Default No parties?

Why is it so amazingly hard to start parties up? I'm in Yak's Bend at the moment, and going outside by yourself is total suicide for me, and people tell me my combo (E/Mo) is the best class for soloing. Yet its almost impossible to find a party of 6. Most of the time you are lucky to get a party of 3 and then add 3 useless henchmen. I don't know how people manage to solo killing some of the bosses, but I can't do it. But no one seems to want to party. Out of the 100 people in town, only 5 or so probably go there to actually join a party. Everyone else is trading or dancing.

Oh and while were are at it, what's the point of dancing? It seems every 2nd person I see is dancing. I don't see the point.

Lighten up man. Sometimes there is good reason for dancing. Some people do it for a laugh, to meet new people, to interact with others, or on occasion there's a need for a good victory dance. Maybe if you interacted with more people you would have a better chance of getting a party.

You could easily get well past Yak's Bend on your own though. You may not like the style you would have to play much, but it's very doable. With this party you could do it:
1. You
2. Healer henchman
3. Mage henchman
4. Brawler henchman
5. Warrior henchman
6. Cultist henchman

This is the setup I almost always use, and I'm a monk. I help them out by using my smiting skills and attacking, while calling the targets to get them all to attack. The healer henchman does a pretty good job of keeping everyone's health up, but I have to keep an eye out, and help when necessary. You could do this exact setup if you make sure to help out with healing occasionally, but you could still do some damage with your Elementalist skills as long as you keep an eye on everyone's health in the big battles.

For fun..because all said and done, it is a game. Let people play it how they want.

Just take henchman with you, or go and level up a bit if you're too low.

Don't give up, keep trying. There are players out there who do want to party up. Perhaps choosing the right day and time when there's likely to be more party-minded players online could help, though I'm just speculating. Also, you've chosen a character type that while good for solo play, may not be attractive to some groups... unless you're starting the party, that is. Certain character builds complement others, and so maybe approach specific ones that you see rather than just asking anyone. Also, don't use local chat to solicit a group... whisper people directly and see if they respond. But be cool if they don't, and try not to spam everyone.

Sometimes you just get a feeling about someone. Start to collect a good friends list, and search for them when you go online. You may want to consider joining a PvE based guild whose requirements are something you can handle, just to make the process easier.

If you want to play with a party, invite people. There are so many people standing around in the mission areas looking for groups, but they never play with eachother because nobody wants to start one. I can't help but laugh when I see 4-5 people saying "LFG" and it never occured to them that somebody has to start a party first before they can be invited.

I just don't see the point of getting an MMO game, and then putting henchmen in your party to do thing solo. Why do people do this? Do they find it more fun?

And I do try to invite people, and usually there will be one person saying LFG, and if I'm lucky there will already be a group of 2 people when I get there.

Henchies are a bit wank below lvl 20. Some people (who only play for pvp) complete it with henchies, which seems feasible and equally hard considering the stropping & human error that occurs otherwise.
In terms of the afk-ness, insult them and invite everyone in the are and youll usually get a group.

No, no level requirement. Later missions allow more people.
