Level Cap
Why is it only 20? Or will ArenaNet extend every 3 months or so? I hope they do.
I know there will be a GW exspansion every 6 months so that ArenaNet can make some money without montly fee. But no worries $30 every 6 months isn't as bad as like $90 for 6 months in WoW.

I'm not complaining either.
And won't people get to lv 20 in a matter of days? Then what are we gonna play GvG for the rest of our lives? I hope there's some big exp to get each level in the final version

what's special about leveling? why do u want to keep leveling forever so bad?
and people say getting to lvl 20 is when the game really starts
edit: if you want to compare GW to an FPS, FPS games are like starting at lvl 20, and what do u do?
just a little analogy

GW is not about reaching the next level, or reaching max level, for that matter. Level 20 is when you stop getting attribute points and health each level, but a large portion of the content will be balanced for parties of level 20 characters. In most games based around leveling, once you pass the level range for an area, that area becomes pointless to play, so when you've achieved a high level, 90% of the game is below your level. In GW, you'll reach level 20, and have a large portion of the game that is challenging to go through, all intended for level 20 characters. Rather than grinding for the next level, you'll be able to play challenging missions and explore the world. You can still gain skill points to learn more skills so you can play around with different setups for your character as well.

Definitly, it really became aparant to me this past weekend that Level 20 is really when you can start playing game for real. Up until that point, you're more or less figuring your character out and making some friends along the way.

Yes, for PvP and GvG, having level 20 as a cap seems good to me. It's actually bad to have it too high since it would balance PvP gaming for the number of hours spent grinding, not how good player you are.
As for PvE, remember the only thing an increased level does is increasing your attribute points, health, and mana, but due to how the game is designed with the main focus on character skills and tactics, this is where the actual replayability and gameplay can be found. And as far as I know, you will gain attribute refund points and skill points even after level 20.
Also, while you wont see a level number increasing every now and then, something that can't be measured -- your own skill with the character you're playing will continue to increase for a very long time, as this is a hard game to master. And as long as you face challenges in the game and can tweak your skill setup to try out slightly new strategies for your build, and try to perfect your item setup, who cares about if a value is 20 or 21?

In most games, as you level you have to go to new areas to get the same challenge that you were getting when you started the current area.
In Guild Wars, after you finish the first 25% of the game you are at max level and the remaining 75% is "the New Area".
(This doesn't count content provided by expansions.)

Yeah anet wont be making buttloads of cash like EQ people. nearly requried expansions plus a high monthly fee. though this could be offset by the fact more people would be attracted to buying the game and accesories due to no monthly fee so they could make jsut as much

Good point, but I actually like PvE. PvP is still superb though.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not here for leveling up. If I wanted that I'd be playing FFXI. I'm here for the beautiful world, the deep combat, the awesome GvG and for the friends I'll make.

I have been playing Finatl Fantasy XI since December of '03, and I'd have to aggree with you about the fact that most of the game is about leveling. The max level in that game right now is 75, and once you're past 30 or 40, you're lucky if you get a level every couple days or so. I'm more into games where everyone has a (somewhat) equal advantage over the other, so you're judged by skill, not time played.

When I first started reading it all, I was like.. a level 20 level cap!?!?!? But then I cept reading. THIS IS AWESOME! I CAN'T WAIT TILL THE NEXT BWE!!!! It will be my frst time ever on GW! ^_^
Yeah, I haven't played FFXI But yeah, I see what you're talking about. Yeah, I have EverQuest. Eh... its ok but I mean, I have had it for a while. Like, leveling is HARD.... I can't paly that often but still... and like, I don't know what to do! So leveling is all I know. Actually your guild, say your a paladin, you go to a certain paladin guildmaster (NPC) and they tell you certain things to retrieve and mix in a kit and then like make armor and stuff. THATS ALL I KNOW! And like you are suppposed to be able to do stuff in the Lost Dungeons of Norrath expansion like wheb your level 15. But I was told its very hard to find people for LDoN stuff at that level. I am thinking I wasted money on EQ... yeah.. GW ALL THE WAY!

Agreed...in a way...I just would like the them to maybe add like 5~10 in the next exspansion so that something new will come. But I'll still be a GW addict without it
To hell with EQ... GW is supreme!

I agree that the level 20 cap is a great aspect of the game. I hope the devs will add new content, new map to explore or PvP, new items, new monsters, new quests as sequels in the story, in future chapters. I am fully happy I will be allowed to spend my time on something else than leveling. I can figure out the leveling process to 20 lvl cap as my school time to learn a particular profession. Is there anyone here who really love school that much?

I imagine that having a high levelcap (or none at all) goes against the entire idea of a no-subscription online RPG. According to some of the interviews, the creators of the game wanted the player to be able to play GW at his own pace, switch to other games and then return to GW.
If the game had no levelcap, you'd leave Guild Wars in order to play a newly released game and then return to see that all the people you knew were sixty levels above you.
