They also don't appear in your list as party members. They either appear under the "Allies" section, or not at all. The only people or NPCs that appear in the party members list are ones you recruited in town before entering the mission.

Though, the disconnect is odd. Maybe your team leader kicked them out?

You can't kick people out except in town, in which case it just removes them from the list, it doesn't leave them in but greyed out.

Kai Sa is a player. In fact, he's a level 20 W/R, currently standing in the Thirsty River staging area, and he's a member of the guild XLAW. (Just call me Dreamsmith, P.I. )
It must have been a disconnect bug...

Devona, Mhenlo, Aidan, and Cynn never go above level 20. They show up in the primary party because they are Henchman. Anyone npcs that join your group that arent henchman go in an "ally section" at the bottom of the list.

Possible Dev :p
I played AC2 for quite sometime before all the nerfing they did the very first time which messed with people's characters and many people left the game. However, before all that occurred randomly in groups doing missions we would run across a Dev or someone involved with testing and doing things with the game. In this case we were in a PvP zone and he challenged us. In AC2 our whole group went after him and he sat there and laughed. We couldn't hurt him then he killed us all. I'm not saying that this happened here, but just saying it could be a possibility. Who knows but I will agree with the bug idea until we actually see or hear more about characters with a level higher than 20.

My bet: The engine continues to count levels up to a higher level cap, just in case of a future level cap increase, but until then labels the player as 20. When he disconnected, the game stopped displaying the class and level label for a moment and you saw level he could actually be.
So I guess I agree with the general consensus.

The character name was "Lvl 22 Kai Sa" notice how the L is capitalized.
Too easy and not worthy of a thread. Sigh.

The 't' is capitalized for the ally as well, there is no level displayed for him if what you said is true..and I trust Dreamsmith when he says he saw the player.

That would mean my bear which is name:
Lvl 20 Pet Tedz is also fake... OMG i got a 1337 hax0r pet...
Na i think like the rest its just that it keeps on counting... and i think for a good reason, because (IIRC) you need more xp for the "virtual" lvl 22 then for the "virtual" lvl 21 ... so the levels have to have different names for the game to keep them apart... so the game keeps counting but for us it stops at 20...

So you're saying there's a hack out that allows players to bypass the character name rules (digits are not allowed in a character name)? Also, how'd he get rid of the "W/R20" that should preceed his character name? And what does the capitalization have to do with it? It's capitalized the same way it always is (see the entry for the pet, for example).
No, I believe it's the same Kai Sa I saw earlier today, standing around in the Thirsty River staging area trying to get picked up for a group. And he's only level 20. Obviously, there's a display bug that can occur when you disconnect sometimes. It may even be as some have suggested: he's filled his XP bar twice and gotten two more skill points since reaching level 20, and somehow that fact becomes visible if you disconnect under the right circumstances. Should go back and ask him...

just fyi i just talked to him just a sec ago. lol! very nice guy. i figured he was chinese cause of his name, and i know a little so i asked him what lvl he was. he's lvl 20 and he said he's lvl'd twice since he's been lvl 20. and he is indeed a warrior. that's about all i understood.

Yeah it was a bug true enough, a cool bug though. One time some guy asked me to party up in Kryta and it said he was a lvl 1 r/e, obviously I declined this party invitation while pondering about how the hell someone like that was even here, as it's impossible to be that far at lvl 1...then he joined up and was lvl 16, go figure.
Neat though, if nothing else.

It's numbers, doesn't actually mean he's level 22.
I think this thread should be closed, the correct information has been layed down and now everything else drifting is little chit-chat.

Like i said in my first post, its a disconnect bug, dreamsmith here basically confirms it by spotting before mentioned player.
Not a dev, ally, npc or anything else. Just a simple error caused by a sudden disconnect. Plain and simple.

It's most likely a bug, as if it was an npc it would have been under allies rather than party members.
Edit: Sorry for trying that, but I like to be certain..of course I did not mean to imply you would lie to us like that.
Second Edit: I just realised..it can't be an npc anyway, as they do not often make a habit of disconnecting.

They coule reverse engineer the game and pull out the font.
