I currently have a Healer, but he's not a monk primary.
Angelic Favor, Ele/Mnk
lvl8
4 Energy Storage
7 Healing Prayers
3 Protection Prayers
Instead of healing in big chunks, his specialty is spamming.

PvE but I want to eventually get into GVG and Arena.
Main Healer. Currently level 12 with 9+1 in Healing, 5 in Divine, 1 in Protection.
Secondary is Mesmer for Insipration Magic (not using it quite yet, give me a few levels).
Guild is Higher Order (HO) and I am willing to play outside the guild. When I am not doing my own quests or helping out a guild mate I am usually in the Ascalon areas seeing if other people need help.

I found a Rune!!! Rune of Minor Protection Prayers off a Dwarven helmet. It increases my protection prayers by 1. So, I canned Inspiration Magic.
7+1 Healing
3+1 Protection
7 Divine Favor

I am presently set up as a pure monk. I wouldn'y say I'm 100% pure healer as a few points are in Smite for missions/quests involving undead and general self protection. Willing to help if available.
May use E skills later as more points are aquired.
Tried to do Villany of Galrath last night and we lost. I was the only Monk. This is definitely a time to have 2 Monks. One for Healing and one for Smite due to the large number of undead. Oh, and at least 2 really great tanks and a good elementalist/mo for the mass attack. If anyone needs this quest let me know.
Later,
Zilm

You're right 2 monks is needed. However, I don't think smiting is the way to go. I'd rather have one Healing monk and one Protection monk.
I'm a "pure monk" also. I think that is the best way to play a monk. I tried using Mesmer Inspiration spells for better energy management, but I found that using protection prayers is the best way to manage energy. If you prevent damage you won't have to heal as much. If you don't have to heal as much you won't use as much energy.
Healing and protection prayers is the best way to defend yourself as a monk. A monk can't stand up to a warrior or other melee characters. The purpose of the monk is to keep the group alive. Even if that means you die in the process.
That's the Call of the Monk.

First:
Character name: Inacurate Neko
I switch skills for PvP and PvE.
I can effeciently and easily serve as either Primary Healer or Support. Depends on my mood and my skill layout.
Party, though am looking for a TIGHT run long-term PvP, but playing PvE too Guild. Am also thinking of starting my own, looking for people who like to play Monk and want to test a few ideas. [email protected]
Secondary Profession: Elementist. I use it for absolutely nothing, lol. I might drag Lightening Javelin once or twice with me into PvE for the Interrupt, but that is it.
AIM: Inacurate
Secondly, your comment is true but kinda not, too. I can, and have many times easily tanked while one or two warriors are beating on me. Without another healer of any sort helping me, and with one skill, too. :P
Two words: Heal Area.
You think up the rest....

Yeah, it depends on how powerful the enemies are. If you pump yourself full of Protection and Healing prayers a monk can tank.
You say Elementist is usless. Dude, use firestorm. When you con up on a group of enemies Nukem then start protecting and healing. But you do have a point. I no longer use my secondary on the harder missions and quests. I do nothing but missions first then go back and do the quests when I'm way to poweeful. That way I can test out other spells without taking much risk.

I've only recently discovered the joy of playing a Monk. I have two chars, neither with Guild associations [mature guilds considered]:
PvP: Filla Busta Lvl 20
Mo/E that specializes in not just healing, but in removing your hexes and conditions as well. It's a template build, but I'm skilled enough at it to keep good players alive (now if you're stupid, only god can save you)
PvE: Otto Bodie Lvl 7
Mo/Me that works a room pretty decently and keeps the humble players breathing. Still looking for my energy management Mes spells, but I do more dmg than I take and still keep a group full of meat shields around (FYI: "Otto Bodie is targeting 'x'" means kill the guy attacking me).

• Nickname: Jana
• Character name: Jana Marie
• Character Focus: Monk/Mesmer
• PvE, PvP, or balanced?: Balanced - lots of healing for PvE, even split of Healing & Protection and a little Mesmer Inspiration for good measure.
• Would you serve as the main healer or are you more geared towards support healing and some extra function (please specify your other function)? Main healer & protector. Can also fire a mean staff if people are not getting pummled around me.
• If you don't have a guild, are you looking for a guild or just a party every once and a while? I have a guild.
• If you have a guild (and hopefully you want to play with people outside of your guild), what is it's name/can we have a link? Knights of the Silver Flame. Link: http://knightsforums.servehttp.com
Optional information, such as:
- Your secondary profession: Mesmer
- The focus(es) of your healing build(s), if it's anything but healing: Build is based on healing (in PvP some protection spells too and even a divine one) with some annoying mesmer spells (both pro and anti hex) to keep people honest. I really like the inspiration line, and especially the spell Inspire Hex, which removes hexes and steals them for your own use . At some point later, I am going to switch to warrior or something, just to see what that is like.

Name: Flavonas Flaming (currently lvl 17 Mo/Me)
Play style: PvE for now, PvP GvG later
Absolutely commited healer (definately so when I get peace and harmony skill). No offensive spells (unless its required, or possibly zealots fire in the future when i get it.) Currently all attributes in Divine and Healing. Uses restore life for rez.
I was in a wonderfully effective group yesterday who had a El/Mo (Fatias!!) with the energy to spam heal party and orisons. So i was able to sacrifice energy regen to use divine boon to do some massive healing to keep actively targeted people alive.
Mesmer as a secondary but rarely uses it. Sometimes using leech signet, spirit shackle or mantles for known bosses/missions/maps, if I've energy and time to spare.
Currently no guild as I'm still going around meeting new people! Maybe some of you might have seen me around
Have other toons running around too, all with the last name Flaming.

Meant to say Kiss ass reather than kick ass
• Character name
Zilm Trufar LVL20 Mo/E
• PvE, PvP, or balanced?
PvE- Healing 10, Smite 10+1, Divine 9+1 w/15 skill points in the bank. Presently have 0 skill points in Elemantalits. Never played a PvP match. May change to Mo/W. Soloing as a Smiting monk is hilarious!
• Would you serve as the main healer or are you more geared towards support healing and some extra function (please specify your other function)?
I am the main healer. A rare blessing indeed with two monks in a party. Think I've seen it only twice. The Smite is for party protection as well as my own. Retribution tends to keep them from massing me. A pure healer with little defense is THE prime target later in the game.
• If you don't have a guild, are you looking for a guild or just a party every once and a while?
Haven't seen one to impress me yet. Either lack of timely guild help, poor guild member play or quite honestly the endless kiss ass guild chit chat to the leader by one or two suck ups.
I have enjoyed playing the role of the healer monk. Getting close to the end of the game and ready for a character change. I just cant stand any more idiots running wildly around the map, get killed than wont shut up with the "rez plz" or telling me how to play. When the right group gets together rarely are there any deaths during any mission/quest in the game. I typically travel with henches. Smart game play is a true gift from god!
Never hurts to whisper me to see if I'm busy. Remind me you saw me on the Monk page of the forums. As you all know the constant invites as a Monk get little attention from me anymore.

PvE, PvP, or balanced? - Well, a pure healer doesn't change much between the two, but I'd say primarily PvP
Main Healer only

PvP only, Nala Sinquain, and I love her dealer. Mo/N, I'm a necro PvE primy, so I can juice her with some sekzi Necro spells to suck some health for myself when I need to, or use the Sacrifice HP for Mana skill... I have a nice heal selection, but a poor rez sellection... but I do have emergency heals, the one that cuts my health and donates it and some more to the targeted player... along with the basic heal for so many point skills.
I usually bring a signet along and don't de-buff hexed allies; its more efficient to heal them while the enemy tries futily to pound them into submission. I kind of chuckle when they keep hammering on the same guy not reallizing a blonde-haired girl is radiating light like Jesus from behind him.
Male IRL, btw...
