erm prices in the traders are quite considerably more or same as what they were , seems the only ones that will lose out will be the exceptionally greedy who tried to stockpile minors to up thier price 500+-1k mark which the market trend was leaning too...
imo i think its a good thing & personally i like how the traders keep players prices honest.

Aparently, all runes are up for sale, except the popular ones get grabbed within seconds of becoming available. I've seen a superior vigor, and air, but by the time I get it into the box, its already gone. This is quite frustrating as I want to check what their price is but am currently unable to do so. Funny thing is, I have YET to see a superior fire rune for sale.

Unlocking...well see, when you id an item in the PvE game, you unlock it for your PvP character. When you create a PvP only character you can choose any rune you've unlocked in your PvE game with your PvE characters to attatch to your armor at PvP creation, but like I just said, this only applies to a newly created PvP character.
errr, maybe im making it more difficult then it needs to be, im reading that and I can see how that might not make sense. Basically if you find a major rune of swordsmanship in your PvE game and id it, it becomes "unlocked". If you then on a whim decide to create a brand new character out of the blue and decide "what the heck lets go PvP only" instead of choosing a PvE character, you can then apply that rune to your armor when you choose your equipment. It works just like the unlocking of skills.
Its just that unlocking items on your account doesnt have anything to do with what runes you can buy at the trader, thats based entierly on supply and demand. Who's sold what to the trader and who bought it from her.

It wasn't just rune farmers who were profiting before. the handful of patient arbitragers were making huge profits in the rune market. Well, now you can't get gold by, putting it nicely, 'playing the market,' or more accurately, 'exploiting idiots who set the prices that high themselves.' It's a shame that they got hurt because it certainly was a valid way of making money and more difficult than just pure gold farming but overall the effect of the rune trader was good for previously mentioned reasons.
The people who are going to quit because of this don't belong playing this game the first place. It's not grind wars, as you may want it to be, and thankfully it's being addressed (finally).

Ok, here's the deal on buying from the trader.
Any runes you have unlocked have no effect on what he can and will sell to you. He will offer any that are available at that moment. By the time you drag it into the window, it maybe gone, and thus you cannot purchase it, though.
He will not buy or sell salvaged, but not yet identified runes. So you cannot salvage a yellow piece of armor, and use him as a middle man in trading it, prior to it being identified. This means he will not buy "unidentified superior monk rune". This is the confusion point. Unlocking is irrelevant, identification only applies to the fact that the rune is id'd, and salvaged, and is bought and sold only in this manner.
Everything you see offerred should be similar to what is seen by everyone else, assuming you "click" the trader at the same time.

Overall you just summed up every online game.
All games have the same issue. Because you don't die or lose anything in Guildwars, it will lose interest. Other online games are similar, it still takes time but when you have everything you do end up in a dead end. And if you race to the end by amassing everything asap, well you just F#*&'d yourself quicker as you may lack the depth to make something out of an online game.
Not picking on ya crackerjack, but this line could be seen in all forums on all games where people say that farmers have everything and now that they have everything the game is boring and the game has lost interest and now I am moving on to the next game so now what..... blah blah.... blah....
Maybe if people look back at all the online games they played, they may realise or notice the trends of why people leave. If you believe this will nail GW into the ground, leave, if you belive it will make it more enterating and ocmpetitive, stay.
Just my thoughts.
Cheers

Not everyone is like you.
Let me ask this: What has changed?
The one thing that is (in theory) taken away at all is the ability to make money. Why you want to do this is beyond me. And it's not like it's GONE. You still CAN make money.
Hunting monsters for experience has nothing to do with being max level, and never did. It has to do with that +1 skill point. And, sure, some people will still hunt for cool items that way. Because they like to. Because it's FUN. For them, anyway.
And long before I was ever level 20, I spent hours playing PvP just in the Arenas. I haven't even TRIED GvG yet, but I could spend a lot of time doing that. Maybe YOU can't, but I don't think ArenaNet is about to lose all of it's audience members.
Besides all of that, would you consider coming back for an expansion? After all, they don't need -you- taking up server time when you aren't paying a monthly fee anyway, if there's nothing you like. ;-)

this all just goes back to one of the primary principles of the game: skill over hours played.
Now everyone has easy access to the same runes, not just those who have farmed for hours to acquire them, or to aquire the gold for them.

I doubt I would come back for an expansion, as I don't like the way A-net is taking guild wars. I like the pvp, but I don't want it just thrown at my feet. No reward is so sweet as one earned if you ask me and some famous dude who i can't remember :P I might go back to diablo 2, with so many different pvp builds and tons of items required per char, I have trouble getting bored... only hacked! :O

i agree too..
every patch that comes out is just making it easier for people who cant get nothing.. they increase 1 sigil to 3, now almost everyones gonna have one, theyll be worthless, crappier guilds out there, less competition.. thing is, if you cant win one, you shouldnt deserve one.. now they sell runes too? come on, we're suppose to find these on our own....

How does being allocated a rune by a random drop table have anything to do with earning, and how does less teams on the ladder mean more competition?

Thats as well as someone can sum up my thoughts in a single sentence. I'm sick of the people who keep forgetting this game revolves around the PvP. You want the PvE to be the big point of the game? Go play world of warcraft or everquest 2, or whatever else there is out there. The PvE in this game got boring by level 10. Its not challenging at all, its just something that has to be done to not get massacred in PvP. What do you people think you're going to do when you finish the game anyway? The PvE isnt constantly evolving, so you're basically stuck with finishing missions you havent already done (there wont be many of those), farming (zzz), or PvP (ie: the point of the damn game). Perhaps you can make a new character, but what fun is that? Same shit all over again? Bleh.
The rune traders are something i'm quite happy about. It aids the PvP aspect in huge ways. Not only can i now get rid of the many many runes that were cluttering up my characters backpacks, i can now not worry as much about farming to get a particular rune for a new piece of armor, or farming to get one billion gold to buy that one superior rune no one seems to have except for that one guy who doesnt like the idea of bartering. Simply put, it reduces the amount of time put into PvE (the boring grind part of the game). While theres still a fair bit to fix up in the game, this is a step in the right direction to say the least.

No kidding. When the Rare Material Trader first popped up, he was buying Steel Ingots for 800 gold a piece from me! o.o
And the Material Trader was selling them for a little over 2k for 10. Buy 10, sell them as singles, and you make 6k. Was going to try it, but when I got back to the Rare Material Trader, he was buying them for 30 a piece. However, I did manage to sell 22 steel ingots I already had for 17,600 gold.
Crazy.

The idea is only the best players can make guilds and fight against each other, in other words good competition. Don't anyone DARE say that this is unfair, as anyone pro patch is saying that Gw is supposed to be about skill not grind, and heres your skill.

I found it funny all the people who complained first spoke as if they came off the l33t boat last week. Can't people just type "to" instead of "2". Or "you" instead of "U". What is so god damned hard about it ? Moving your finger up to the 2 button is more work than hitting the o button! It's not lazy, it's retarded.
And about the change. Muahahahaha!! Ok. Seriously, people keep saying what is there to do after you complete the game, have max armor and captured all your skills ? Get rich ? Why, what is there to buy ? The only thing you could possibly do with all that money is sell it on Ebay. Go screw yourselves botboys, you're fuxored!

EVE online does have a free two week trial. Though I never delved deeply into the PvP in my trial time.
Only reason I stopped playing it cause I'm cheap and can't pay a monthly subscription when I have to pay rent and crap, and it was being buggy as hell for me.
