Default Just me?

I don't think you can salvage items anymore... I found a blue long bow of fortitude +26 and it wouldnt let me salvage it for the string...

It must have been a collector item then, I guess.

how do you know if a savage kit will take out from the weapons... like for example a bow, if you use a savage kit, does it give you the strings, or grips?

I don't think you can know ahead of time

I think it gives you the first atribute listed on the item (that is if it has more than one).

Oh, I had assumed that it was random what it gave you. I believe that the first attribute of a bow is set by the string and the second is set by the grip. Is that incorrect?

--edited because I'm the Absent-Minded Ranger--
And on-topic, I've been able to salvage things just fine still. I don't know why it won't let you salvage you bow.

You know... I never drew this conclusion in MY head.... However.

I'm experiencing EXACTLY the same thing. What's going on?

The only time I haven't been able to salvage something, is when it's been a "Something Whatever of Something" but it hasn't said "Something Unlocked". So I guess that item just comes as standard, you can't salvage the "upgrade".

Had a bad experience with that. Saw someone selling a low dmg sword of fortitude, I went to view it. Said it had Health +25 and I was like WOW! Cos he was selling it for a few hundred.

Bought it.. wouldn't salvage.

It's random i beleive. There is chance you get the string, chances you get the grip... or chance you get... wood. =)

but i think you have higher chance to get the grip or the string than the woods... else it would be kinda sucky. Since i salvage stuff, i usualy get the upgrade.

Oh, are you saying you end up with craft materials? I thought he was saying he was unable to salvage at all. Well, that makes much more sense then. I think it's time for me to have a cookie and go to bed before I start confusing things even more.

collectors items and items you get as a quest reward are afaik not salvageable. think again, maybe you didn't find that item but got it as a reward.

Okay, this happened to me today as well. The bow I got is a "Long bow of Fortitude." It was unidentifed in my inventory, of course until I identified. So I doubt it was a reward. I tried to salvage using the expert kit, and no go.

Got the "You can not..blah blah."

So is this a new bug, or are we getting unidentifed things as rewards?

BTW.. I really wanted to add that upgrade to my current better bow which has no upgrades on it.

editted to add: I put in a question to support to see what they say about it. If it is a bug, maybe its something they can patch quickly.

Sometime it do this when you try to salvage too fast after you were fighting. It say something like the "this item cannot be salvaged" but its something else about its not being long enough you stopped fighting... I don't remember exactly what it say.. but it happened a couple of time to me.

I'm pretty sure that this is the culprit. I ran into this myself after they enhanced the quest rewards - there were some that were worth salvaging. The message that I got was that "This item is not salvageable" or something similar. Salvage for regular items was working ok.
