once more less greedy type guilds get to HoH , more sigils will be sold to trader or players & not just stockpiled till prices go up.. as no doubt some guilds are doing.

i think thats the only prob with "farming", that instead of emptying inven at a decent price to ripple down the savings to community, they try to "corner the market" .. ahh capitalism......

indeed i agree that Sigils should be earnt not bought altogether , but current gaming system is these things are supposed to be leading the economy o_O

... assume it is intented that the best players compete during the first months of GW in the HoH. A win there should not only have the "we did it" but the game should also reward it.

Now what do we have for a reward:
special items - difficult because they influence balance
gold - that's not very special - can be achieved by long playing
experience - no
a guild hall - ok. But what about people who own already one. What might valuable to them ? The possibility to give someone a guild hall.

The sigil is currently the greatest reward the game can give to a player, because it enables someone for Guild Battles.
All other stuff (even runes ) just add some bonus for PVP or give a nice look ... and shouldn't be unique.

now there is a player that as a sigil too much. He will
- sell it for its market value to get the bonus for his next pvp
- he will give it to a person that is "worthy" in his eyes
- just keep it for whatever reason

i personally think that Arena underestimated the number of guilds that get founded and by that the desire to have a guild hall.
But they did something against it:
1. they increased the availability of sigils to the HoH winners
2. they didn't implement any more feature in the guild hall that would lead to a higher demand. Imagine they would already have implemented some common storage for the guild in the hall. How much would a sigil cost then ?

to complete it - yes i think the reward for a winner in the HoH should be a Guild Hall. But it is allright for me if the winner can sell his trophy to the price the economy offers. If he couldn't do that - a win in HoH would not be rewarded the same as it is now.
But i don't like those that collect sigils - i would like to see self destroying sigils ( something like to be used within 2 weeks).

However give the game 4 months and i expect all top fights to be held in the Guild Battles on the ladder - opening the HoH for Teams (like mine) that are not so top-edge skilled.
What also might come is a consolidation of guilds.

Patently untrue, at least on the American servers. There are always Sigils available at the trader, with a price that varies between around 65k and 90k depending on the hour and day.

What money sinks are in this game again?

To add onto the list of why sigils continue to climb in price (just like everything else), PvP players do not care about gold, merely unlocking, and are more inclined to trade sigils for boots or unided runes than gold. What are we supposed to spend gold on again?

Sure, and the current reward is a trio of Celestial Sigils and an often meaningless gold item. It's a mechanic for introducing them to the game that has issues but those have been beaten to death. It's also a reward that serious PvP guilds see only as a cash source, as after the first few they quickly lose their utility.

What PvP players want is to unlock stuff. Hence the sigils for boots trade - rare boots often yield superior runes which we can unlock and thus use on PvP characters in the future. I'd also be perfectly willing to trade sigils for skill points if that were at all possible. As it's not I'm stuck with unlocking runes. So if you want to get a sigil quickly, go pharm some rare armors and dangle 'em in a tombs district for a sigil. Should get a taker fairly quickly.

Peace,
-CxE

My new idea on this whole Guild Hall thing, is just make the reward for winning the HoH something different and some cash.

My suggestion.. upgrades TO your Guild Hall.
Winning at the HoH banks you credits, have enough credits and then you can buy updates.

One very cool update would be a Hall of Fame in your Guild Hall. A room which holds plaques saying who you've beaten and who was in that team, Have it so other players can actually go and tour round it!
Another update would be your Guild Vendor. Have items that your guild has found or even made (by adding upgrades) for sale. Let your Guild be know as the major sword sellers in Guild Wars.

It is unfair that people who can't dedicate the time to the HoH can't get a Guild Hall unless they pay for one, it's sad that other people who don't have the commitment they do can get the same thing, and it's sad that people who DO work their butts off to win the HoH's get the same thing as well.

This solves the problem. Winners of the HoH get to bank credits and get cash as a reward. This entitles them to something other people can't get (but not a huge thing).
People who save and save for the celestial sigil get their Guild Halls BUT, to seperate them from the one man guilds who want to show off their cash flow.. every battle they win in their guild hall earns them a lower amount of credits than the HoH.

HoH - 5 credits
Normal Guild in Guild Hall - 1 credit

This stops one man guilds aquiring credits.. cos you need people to actually fight

Why is the price such a big deal? I've been playing for 75 hours or so and I have about 15 plat. If a guild is only made of 8 people like me, then that guild will easily be able to afford a sigil. Also, you only ever need ONE sigil.
