Well when i had finally conquered Diablo 2 Lod and couldnt get any better unless i got all 45 life skillers instead of 42+ and so december before the game came out i started participating in Beta and finding out that gold acctually mattered and having to unlock skills and being able to remake with attributes was HUGE! and no monthly fee..Woot Woot.....i think my favorite thing about picking up the game was seeing in the Beta that skale fins dropped like mad in presearing and then sold to people for most in post cause they were alot harder to come by so first 3 days of game i went skale hunting and ended up when i went to post searing there was a new materials trader i had 900 scales i sold all of them to materials for 1800 gold for each set of 10 i ended up with 170000 gold first 3 days of of release 2 weeks later they nerfed that but that was my favorite thing so far about picking up the game

Well i had been playing another mmoprg called star wars galaxies and was leaveing it as the CU had killed it and had heard about GW so I thought I would check it out. I read somethings about it and thought it was worth trying and I'm very glad I did. I just hope it does'nt get ruined by pvpers like SWG did.

Played Diablo 2 (PvP mostly) and Everquest since they both got released. Just thought it was time to move on so picked GW over WoW just because of the no monthly fee. It was a big plus since I am still paying for 3 EverQuest accounts which the wife still plays daily. She 3 boxes those and I havent played any of them since I got GW.

I understand that you are allowed to have an opinion, and express it on this website..but there is a difference between posting your opinions and whining..
The constant topics and posts about the 'grind' are just becoming boring, and only cause arguments..
And to stay on topic..
I decided to buy the game the day before it's release.
I was persuaded by the lack of monthly fees, and the fact that all of my friends were leaving other games to buy Guild Wars. (To be honest, I can see why. )
I do not regret the decision in the slightest, and whilst I do admit this game has a few problems the developers are doing a great job of fixing them.

So you're whining about whiners?
He asked a question and I answered. The answer was on topic, too. If you have a problem reading something that doesn't agree with your views, perhaps internet isn't for you.

My friend showed me the very first Alpha, so I played that, then at the start of this year I bought a computer specifically for it.
I'm not normally one for PC games, I'm a console girl all the way. But this has stolen me.

The lady ranger on the Guild Wars site kept staring at me until I ordered the game.

I wasn't being called 'noob' enough in real life so I needed a game to boost my self-confidence, or lackthereof.

The low system requirements were also important for me, which I forgot to mention. The only thing that makes it possible to play games on my computer is the 3d card The rest just tries to hang on as best it can...

i first tried it in WPE, loved the PvP loved the xp for a day and PvP my heart out, preordered it and played several of the beta events, but lately this game has turned into a farm, get nerfed, farm get nerfed, omg i can't unlock any skills cause i have to get 20k xp 20xp at a time for 1 SP, i can' unlock any runes cause by the time i find a new spot Anet already nerfed it.
i liked the idea of skill based PvP, but Arena net is dumbing this game down soo much, no one really fights on the ladder (top guilds that is) because its stagnet. and most peopel just skip the pve part of the game because its easier to rush a char to accension to unlock skills than to xp for the SP. and if i *was* paying for this i would of canceled after the SoC update

A friend got me to play it during E3 and I was impressed at the streaming technology and how well it played across the board on dial-up, poor computers, etc -- and it wasn't even into beta testing stages yet! (*cough* I ended up taking a couple of days off work to play more that week.) I thought the lore behind it was interesting and I got hooked. (I'm more PvE than PvP) I kept checking back on guildwars.com to see the game progress. So many things make it the perfect game for me. I'm one of those 'casual gamers', and I like the fact that I can play by myself for an hour after I get off work without having to get a group -- or I can group if I have more time. Like others I'm opposed to the monthly fee for a game I've already 'purchased', so I wanted to support ArenaNet when it came out. I haven't been disappointed yet.

I sure am.
But when the 'grind' topics are non-stop, it does grate on your nerves a little.
At least keep it to one topic, please.

Yes, and I suppose my post was not aimed at you, in particular..just the people who feel the need to stick around on the forums and tell everybody how they are not having fun..
At that point I would just say leave, or pick up a second game and come back to Guild Wars as soon as you feel they have updated enough to make it interesting again..But stop annoying everyone in the process.

I can handle reading opinions which do not match my own, as I am not a six year old.
But when around 4 topics on the same subject are posted daily, and constant posts about it are made everywhere else..it does get a little annoying.
Remember that the game has not even been fully released for two months yet, and I am sure the developers are working on something to make both sides happy that does not involve UAS..so be patient.
I will not post again on this subject in this topic, as it is nothing to do with the OP, and is not exactly fair to anyone.
And to stay on topic (Again)
The low system requirements also caught my attention..no longer do you need NASA quality PCs to play online games.
With 512 of RAM, and a decent video card this game runes fine..(It's just a shame I won't have those until later this week. )
