You just said you're talking about PvE now, not PvP. PvE is easy. Even if you aren't as good as a real monk, you'll be fine. I always take henchies because of healers like you who insist on being treated like a princess.
So yeah... healer henchies for the win in PvE. Why invite monks for them to drop 10 mins into the missions when 75% of them don't even know what they're doing.
Honestly I wouldn't take a monk unless it's absolutely necessary like in tombs.

-You can't have a hat with +1 to a Monk attribute on an E/Mo.
-If your teammates are taking heavy damage, then Divine Favor will always give you higher healing power per second than an E/Mo is capable of.
-If your teammates are taking light damage, then you can use Signet of Devotion, a FREE 90-ish heal, whereas an E/Mo would have to use energy on an Orison.
-You have the freedom to take any secondary class.
-Your protection spells become more useful, since with Divine Favor, every single protection spell becomes a small heal. You can use Mend Ailment, Reversal of Fortune, Remove Hex, or other protection spells instead of Orison, which saves you time and energy.
-Your Divine Favor spells are only effective if you are a Monk primary.
In essence, you're trading all these things just to make your energy pool much larger and to make Energy Storage-linked spells (of which there are only 3) more effective.

Finally someone who knows what they're talking about. Divine favor is one of the best primary skill in game. Loads of skills linked to this. And powerful bonuses.
If that isn't enough, the +4 to your healing and divine favor from the helmets and superior runes will completely leave your ele behind in terms of healing.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this as well.
Divine boon.
Probably the most useful skill for a healing monk.
With 12 in divine favor, it adds something like 64 health to each spell you cast, on top of the 36 or so you get from divine favor at that rank. That means that if you cast a cheap heal spell, like orison of healing for 70 health, it's now healing for 170 health. So for 7 energy, the orison of healing on a primary monk is comparable to heal other on an elementalist. But not only that, it applies to any monk spell you cast, not only heals. So if you cast remove hex or some other non-healing spell, it heals for 100 health as well.

This was never supposed to be a thread comparing which is a better build for healing Mo/?? or E/Mo it was supposed to be about who healers should heal and in what order based not on class but based on the abilitys of the person behind the character.

I like the thread starters idea and I follow it quite often. On my second time through the game it's my brother who plays the monk, and he just threatens not to heal people if they don't follow called targets/call their own, aggro everything, ignore strategies and the like.

bah My healing Mes/Mo will out heal any monk 14 fast cast anyone? honestly people who think they can tell people what to do just because they are the monk piss me off, YOU can't do shyt w/o the group they can't do it w/o you, so why do monks think they are better? i have played healer chars for over six years in MMO's if you choose to be a healer class then that isyour choice, its not oh ima be a healer so i can feel special, its oh im going to be a healer because i understand a group can't function w/o me, and im not a thick headed idiot who thinks the only way to play is bash em up
however as a healer class you can have some limitations, for one if a group member wont listen to anyone (the n00b) and gets us killed, i leave the group, if people say, ive never done this before 90% of the time, i out. just like any warrior doesn't want a healer who aggroes things and doesn't heal, i don't want a warrior to charge head first into a group of mobs when im spaming ctrl clik on my energy bar
basically imo, if you choose to be a healer, don't get your head to big, anyone else can simply make a monk and replace you, if they choose not to its their problem but monks with the i am mightier than thou attitude piss me off

I know, hijacking threads are bad!
Bah, as a E/Mo with all the Energry Storage you can get, I have 90-100 power (I really don't remember off the top of my head). I'm not an idiot healer, all the MMOs I've played I have been the healer, yadda yadda I was the only healing power me and my husband had doing Ascention, and I was pretty proud of that. When I get into a group for healing for my E/Mo, I know to only have my points into Healing and Engery Storage. We really don't suck.
Yes, Divine Favor is awesome, I often play a Monk primary in PvP Comp. Arenas, with a bunch of Divine Favor you can do like around 40 or more for a spell, not bad. The extra 40 power my E/Mo has makes up for it as long as I know to make up for the slight loss of not having incredibly jacked up Divine and Healing Prayers.
You just can't be a stupid player.
