Getting gold is harder now ;o so much for that character that I made for the sole purpose of getting my 15k armor :P
I'm kinda upset I bought a second copy for the storage/character space, too.. parts of the update I liked, others I didn't, but what's done is done.
.. and I haven't even finished the last 3 missions. Just thinking - what lies ahead after this, repetitive PvP, or repetitive PvE. What was I thinking when I shelled out that extra 50 dollars.. (yes, I know it was my own fault) :0
still haven't acquired a guild hall, either.. wooboy, based on the current rate of acquiring gold through missions and feeble attempts at solo farming where they 'fixed' the difficulty, if I play about 10 hours a day I'll probably have one by, say.. September.
assuming I don't get annoyed and throw myself out the window first..

Easy? You're one of those people who thinks grind=skill.
"Only 1 infusion run"? Because doing it more than once was so much fun and required any real thought or effort.
Good riddance.

You get your first Signet of Capture when you start a quest in Lion's Arch, and one more as a reward for that same quest. After that you can buy additional ones for 1 skill point and some gold from that same quest giver, or from some merchants (such as in Quarrel Falls).

wait.. why can a character get 3 of them.. i thought that you can only capture one skills from a boss monster, i would think logically that the recharge rate is at less 1/5 so that mean you only need one signet of capture to steal skills from boss

There are more than a few elites you can/will/want to capture.

I have to disagree, too easy no, less running through the same areas, less frustration yes. Galraths quest reward, 4k, nice reward, there is another quest that offers 2.5k, what does it matter, you are supposed to gain xp quick, you are supposed to reach level 20 quickly, thats just a bonus.
As for the infusion run being too easy now, if you actually read the update you will find they have done it to make it harder. Your FULLY INFUSED armour now actually only has the effectiveness of 3 old infusion runs, so the mursaat and jade armours will actually HURT more when you fight them. This will make the end game harder not easier.

But it seems people want repetetive frustration, so they will refute your logical argument as they have irrational desires

Are you in a one-man guild? With just 10 people in the guild pooling gold together you could have a sigil in 2 weeks. And if no one is willing to help with sigil acquisition, maybe you are in the wrong guild?
I agree that the changes reduced repetitiveness, not challenge. Stances, which used to not show up when used by a boss mob, were extremely hard to get for no logical reason.
I am just a little concerned that by going further, Arenanet might remove the excitement over finding a 'gold' item by making it trivial to get any item. But then again, I trust them to be smart about it. I still want to be excited about finding a gold item in 3 months.

Hmm, to make it simple...
To unlock skills you have to play PvE.
They make skills easier to unlock.
They make runes available to all, but you need to find and unlock if you want to uses on PvP character only.
Hmm wait a min, I also have to create a warrior in PvE to unlock skills for PvP, hmm I can play that character in the PvP arenas and instead of "grind/Farm" for runes/skills I have them through traders and quests.
If they have done anything, they have made the PvP only characters even more redundant, they are there to taste PvP, if you want to seriously compete use a PvE character.
They have actually leveled the playing field, no more " I can't be competative with out x, which means grind/farm "
Also FACT the high end armours that cost 15k only look different so what do you actually need gold for???? If it takes 2 months to get gold for said armour, so be it, it is only looks and doesn't make you character any better, will not make you win more fights.
So if you cant sell all your runes to others and make hugh profits because they have them already from the rune trader, so what??? HOW exactly is it going to make a difference to you character and your game???
The simple truth is that some people will bitch no matter what. Rather than it being a lovely day outside, it is too hot. There are a minority who will live their entire lives never statisfied, I feel sorry for them.

A part of the game is getting too easy... But, it's not the part the OP is looking at.
I got a few characters on their way in PvE. I play them with a good fellow who has already done it all. Most of the time, it goes like "ok, today we're doing this, it's going to be tough as hell, you'll see some tough critters, and we better take that kind of skills to make it".
Then we start... And it's just easy. As in very easy. It's not really challenging at all; group size has been reduced, sometimes it looks like critter level is down too.
The first example... Everyone used to say Ashes was a bit tough. Now, do you hear about it at all?
I have not download the update yet, so maybe I got it wrong. But when I see
Quote:
Adjusted monster spawns in Talmark Wilderness, Ettin's Back, Ice Caves of Sorrow, Riverside Province, Sanctum Cay, Majesty's Rest, Stingray Strand, Nebo Terrace, The Arid Sea, Prophet's Path, The Scar, and rebalanced spawns of Caromi Tengu throughout Kryta.
|
I am concerned that they have made it even easier... Maybe I am wrong (I'll know tonight when travelling around), I sure hope I am, than they made critters a bit more challenging to beat, and groups a bit larger.
Last time I died in PvE was when I agroed all the hounds at Krypta Gate when going the piggy way with a level 14 warrior . Well, once resed, I looked at it again, had to think a bit about it to figure out a way to do it. I don't mind dying, it just means I did something wrong, and that I got to think about a way to do it right. That's the challenging part.
That's the part which is going too easy... Not getting the Runes, upgrade and all that. That, I don't mind. Hey, if players get more Elite skills, better runes and upgrades, maybe it's time to give some more levels to critters, increase their group side, and make the game more challenging this way!
Louis,

I think this update is fine. I don't care about the rune trader.. That wont stop me from going to find the rune i want instead of buying them.
Im very happy about having to do only one infusion run.. It was getting boring after the 2nd time. I think they could have put 5 bosses in the map tho. So you kill each boss for each piece in 1 run. The raised damage from Mursaats is also very good... They were too easy it was kinda dumb. At least now i have something to heal when killing Mursaats.
Villainy of Galrath quest reward is maybe a bit too much.. but who care?
I'm a bit sad about capture signet tho. I liked that we had to Capture skills when the boss use them. It probably make more people happy than mad anyway.. So its also good in my opinion.
Ale? pretty funny. Its virtual alcohol and it almost make the same effect as real alcohol. As if you read chat in shiverpeaks town, everyone is happy, laughing, singing songs and talking about how drunk they are.
I think it is a pretty funny useless add-on.
About monster balance is some maps.. i don't know. I havent been in those maps yet since the update.
Altho i went to Majesty Rest today and was very disapointed about how few undead there is in this place now compared to beta.

Im not leaving the game, but I agree the devs just made this game so easy its sick, all because of the pvp kids(just like 4 year olds who dont get their way). The game was easy even before the patch. I dont understand why people where complaining. Granted,I am a casual gamer so I dont have time to farm all day but the infusion runs werent that hard and capturing skills was easy.

I think many of the people that are complaining about the changes are the ones that spent many hours to accomplish the same things that others will be able to do much quicker now.
If you really enjoyed doing infusion runs 5 times, with usually 1 moron who does not skip (even when shadows are killing everyone), then there is nothing stopping you from doing it over and over, knock yourselves out, goobers.
As far as capturing elites go, you think that took skill? lol the only skill it took was keeping the dumb boss alive and hoping he uses his elite. I always thought it was stupid and am happy they changed it.

yeah i cant stand it when peoeple are whining about how it takes no skill to capture an elite now...please
you make the usually long run to the elite, and before you had to nurse it along until it cast your spell, sorry but waiting around for a spell for 15min requires no skill and is not fun at all
this is much better, save the cutscene issues

This is funny because, in case you haven't noticed, the boards have really caught fire after this patch. So evidently there are a few more people who were looking at GW the same way I was. Albeit evidently incorrectly.
