Warning In Trade
Do you guys ever come across complete jack a*ses in trading who intend to scam you from the start cause you are a little fragile lvl 5 female necro?
Today, I did.
Well, I was advertising a couple of swords with good fortitude pommels.
+25, +26, and +28.
And this lvl 20 "Mr. Macho" warrior with pimpin cape comes up to me and says "400 gold for your sword with +28. Take it or leave it."
So I tried to talk some sense to him saying nicely that +28 pommels are "just" a little more than 400g.
And guess what, he calls me a "noob [email protected], max is 40 for swords. go read the manual" and insists "400g, take it or leave it."
So to take care of his major jack a$$ness, I offered him a "better deal". I showed him a long sword of fortitude (+28 hp) that I got as a reward for a quest (these items cannot be salvaged btw.) and said, "ok, 400g"
He of course took it without a word and msged me, "noob, you have been ripped".
and a minute later.... "wait, I will sell this sword back for 200g, you make 200 profit" <--- LOL.
So much for his proness.

The sheer brilliance of that is so perfect I cannot compliment you in mortal words. You are my hero!
I would have said "we'll see" after Mr. Macho said you had been ripped.

What i just tend to do is ignore them. People that like ripping others off are either stupid or desperate, when you keep talking to them in an organized manner while keeping them annoyed, it'll tick them off really badly . Just imagine!
You: You know this is worth more than 400g, just because your poor doesn't mean you should try to rip people off
Him: _______ is ignoring you
You: You should also know the manual doesn't list item prices... geeze your dumb
Him: _______ is ignoring you
You: If your desperate for money, you should try making some friends and hunting together
Him: Has logged off.

people who insult me don't get anything - no healing, no res, no item, no trade - not even a thought about how pathethic they are. ^_^

I believe the point here is that Mr. Macho was TRYING to rip her off ... lying about +40 fortitude grips ... then cleverly she dealt him a taste of his own medicine.
I congradulate you ... quick wits will always get you far in life.

No, that is what I would call "getting a taste of your old medicine" It doesn't really matter about the money.

Hey hey, stay with the topic guys. You guys should be congradulating Younggun87, not me.
It doesn't matter how you look at it. Mr.Macho is a noob. Maybe he's a noob who tries to scam others. But he's still a noob. In my previous post, I was just pointing out the fact the younggun87 was so proud of himself for scamming 400 golds off a noob.

But...
Isn't it cool to scam noobs, but not cool to scam newbs?
Edit: Not that I ever try to scam anyone personally.

No, really I think you're trying to pick a fight here. Mr. Macho isn't a noob, he's a guy that apparently is attempting to trick new folks into selling eq for far below its market value.
As far as I read YoungGun's post, all he was telling us is not that he made 400, but that he returned some karma to Mr.Macho.

That's just classic. Very well done.
Mr. Macho doesn't sound like a noob. Just sounds like a jerk that is trying to take advantage of "newbs". He got his just desserts.

I love it I love it. you are now my goddess. all hail your mighty stroke of genius. I may just hold on to a few of those now just to do that to these jerks.
Oh and the Strat guide Does list the BASE values for the items, which is what you get for them from a NPC. Not the upgrades though.. but if you use an ID kit on it that is also revealed to you. I do that with everything I get to sell now, so the sale remains fair when it is inevitably resold.
Remains fair how? well they are trading for a item that is only worth 100gold and they are selling it for say 6000, well in the trade widow it is plainly seen it is only BASE VALUED at 100gold and the other person cancels the deal right away. It keeps others from getting ripped off CONTINUALLY.
NPC traders for customized weapons upgrades are SORELY needed in the game.
