Default America Trading Rediculas.

Ok, first I want to say, i'm one of those people who swapped from Euro to America for the sole purpose of getting into FoW and Underworld, i'ld join korea if i could, but it doesnt give me that option lol.

Anyway decided to go over to Lions Arch to get some good deals on some new weapons, when i saw my very first fruitcake selling a Vamp Sword hilt 3:-1 for 120k, thought hrmm probably just a typo, misplaced the 'gp' for a 'k', anyway turns out thats what he really wants, i said 'pfft good luck selling that'.

Anyway went over to gwonline weapon upgrades to check out whats max on various upgrades, i'm not sure if its accurate page or not, but i'm looking at a vamp upgrade thats 5:-1, so imagine if that fruitcake selling the 3:-1 upgrade had a 5:-1, i think everyone would go broke lol.

And all this was observed within an hour, during the next few days, i seen people selling rare non max dmg weapons for +65k, with only 5% chance on some of its bonuses, i seen charr drop better weapons with better stats on it then a person with this sword.
But hey i know your paying for the Yellow writing on the sword :/

Anyway, just want the communities opinions on it, DONT BE BIAS, i want your true opinion.

What ive sorta nutted it down to is this, in Euro the price you pay for a godly weapon would be about 20k to 40k, in america put a base10 on that.

I'ld appreciate it if you didnt say "if you dont like it, go back to your euro servers.", coz really its not what this topic is about.

*Rant off*

Well considering UW and Fissure drops are horrible now, and I really hate farming (and it's getting harder and harder to each day), I should just move to Europe server and save me a few k on some items. Maybe I will actually trade stuf now.

And yes, you hit the nail. People buy just for the fact that it's RARE/GOLD or it looks COOL. It's as simple as that. No one wants the collector items that are better than half the trash in the trade channel. But to each his own.

Kind of interesting how things work out. I guess the closest parallel is comparing the value of the rupee to the value of the dollar. Same planet Earth, but different communities and different prices.

Granted, there are factors that affect those values, but I think it's the same basic premise. US servers might farm more, to buy higher priced items, inflation inflation inflation. Also, US and Korea have a large influence on HoH and underworld/fissure loot.

Makes me want to consider swapping servers for a while, though

Actually, some people do want collector items, but they are looking on the trade channel for the items to get them.
I don't trade at all, and I have not ever seen any items being sold for even 50k plus (the farthest I have gotten was the mission after droknars.

Perhaps because the severs are in Texas and evertything is bigger in Texas, including the prices?

Serious now ... runes were being traded at over 100k until the trader come along and ended it, same have happened with rare materials and the same happed with dyes.

What happen is because the only source of upgrades and (many) weapons is by trading the market prices will be player demanded, if people see a that a upgrade goes for over 100 plat they will ask the same, they dont care if its fair or not because there is simply no place to check what the suppy/demand is ... thats why after a few days runes that were being sold at rune trader drop from 100k to 20k.

It also did not ended trade, people still trade dyes, runes and materials since the trader buy/sell price is not the same, people simply sell under the trader selling price but over buying price (win-win situation).

as you know america and korea always get favor of the gods, & euro gets favor like twice a week, so swapping to america would be beneficial for ppl in europe wanting to goto there more than twice a week lol.

though you can only change your account 5 times.

Well there is language barriers ... take canadian quebec players that likely rather play in european french districts that american districts.

Of course the reason of european players moving to american severs is that so far the only european team I seen taking HoH on a regular base and keeping it is Rus Corp guild, without favor we cannot reach the bonus map (that even drop nerfed still have the highest XP rewards in the game that we can do over and over again) so by moving they can have access to those maps in a more regular base, since most europeans take english as a second language there is no barrier.

I briefly joined the us servers for a while, decided that the majority of people I had teamed with (in comparison with Euro servers) were so much ruder and more immature - so I went back after a week or so. I'd rather use henchies than team up with some of those ones again.

Yes, I realise I'm making a sweeping generalization and the majority of people on the US server are just as mature as on the euro servers (who also have a certain number of twats within) - so apologies to them.

Anyway, you only need to change servers if you are into pvp, otherwise dont bother. It is a worrying trend to hear of English speaking Euro players leaving to join the US server - just another indication of how the WaW system is fatally flawed in it's use of real life areas.

As to the plight of the Euro servers - never going to be as powerful as the two othere servers. Many different countries, languages, cultural differences, ect. Beginning to see as many Nordic countries being represented on the English servers as there used to before the language split.

Good job I dont really give a monkeys about PvP (apart from it's effect on PvE)...

vamp sword 3:-1 is the best you can get. only two handed weapons go to 5:-1.

you shouldnt assume everyone from quebec is/prefers french. there is an anglophone community in quebec as well :P.

a lil side note: the french spoken in quebec is quite different from that spoken in france. Its a bastardized version of french, mixed with some english as well

As a very educated man, who has studied sociology for many years, I feel that I am qualified to tell you why people behave in the manners listed above. Specifically Kha's comment on how people pay alot for gold items because they are 'rare' even though collectors items are often better.

Brace yourself, here comes the answer: People are stupid. No, Im not kidding. If there is one thing I have learned throughout the years, its people are stupid. Individuals can be intelligent, groups have a hard time though. So, whenever you encounter something that doesnt make sense, just remember: People are stupid.
