Yep, besides the King's Sword of Haste, the most duped item on the original Diablo.

I hate it when sellers ask you to "make an offer". Give me a base price since you obviously have a minimum you're willing to take for an item then I'll dicker with you. Otherwise, I won't bother.

I asked him what the requirements were and he told me. I asked him how much he wanted for it and he told me to make an offer.

I asked him what the damage was on it and he proceeded to tell me that he wasn't going to sell it to me because that was a "NOOB" question. I asked him why it was a "NOOB" question and he said because I was a caster and damage doesn't matter.

I laughed at him and told him that he was a moron. Everybody knows that damage is one of the determining factors in the price of any weapon. The amount of damage I do may not matter, but how much I was willing to pay for the staff did matter on the damage.

Luckily, in my experience, these people are few and far between. But, they are always good for a laugh.

That person is very, very stupid, I mean, why wouldn't anyone not want to sell to a noob, you can rip them off! (never done it myself, just so you know)

Maybe, he realized that I wasn't a "NOOB" and he was looking for one to screw.

Oh Mr. Elite Player, I'll gladly pay you 150k for that 3-6 dmg smiting staff.

ya. I'm picking up on that from the other two as well

GW is the first online RPG i've played...so I really don't know what most of the terms being used mean or where they come from.

Thank you ... this is exactly the answer I was what I was waiting for .... so why is it if we have hackers with such great knowledge sounding immature these days? I am a programmer and I prefer using proper english because ... I guess ... Im a n00b idiot?

I don't understand why when in a town people use this to refer to items? Using hacking language would incinuate that your item is not actually ligit, and so on likely worthless. To me people are using the terms to 'sound' powerful ... but the terms outdated and would resemble someone saying wow man that sword is 'rad' or 124D. Do you understand where I am coming from?

I absolutely used the terms and the "speak" in the late 80's nd early 90's....but I used them for their intended purpose. I very rarely use any of those terms unless speaking with someone I knew in the early 90's...and then we're only joking around with eachother. There was a purpose for it then...10-15 years ago encrypting things was very very difficult...you couldn't just push a button and bammo it's encrypted...there was a long process, and this "speak" eliminated it.

I absolutely understand where you are coming from...the term "no0b" aggrevates the hell out of me...but mostly because people are using it incorrectly now.

thanks ... it just semms odd that in the towns and even in these forums when people refer to selling items they continually use theese terms lol ...

I would rather jump in and buy when i see 'max dmg fellblade +15% when health>50% armor +5 etc' than 'Uber fellblade for 1337 warrior, no n00b offer' lol ...

they could very well be the same sword ... but imho, I would personally cut to the chase when it comes to business. I know ... I'm an old fart ... lol ..

this isnt to say I haven't travelled with many good players. Thoroughly enjoy most companies, daily I'm more addicted to the funny groups we get, the great conversations, humour ... side jokes ... alotta good ... but the towns need some thinning out imo.

EDIT*********** to the response below me ... *******

hahahaha ... yes, yes ... I am sure they are kids. as with about 75% of the complaints I have read refer to either child like behaviour or or flaming remarks because they are still immature ... most disgruntled posts I see revolve either around that or 'i was travelling with this group, ran outta energy, warrior died ... started shouting U NOOB IDIOT U BAD IDIOT MONK GO LEARN TO PLAY, WTF RES ME U MONK ... IM DEAD IM DEAD IM DEAD RES ME U IDIOT*

.... the remarks and comments revolving around this type of behaviour are abundant to say the least. We all like to vent but realise that as much as we hate the lingo, GW is free ... free for me, free for u, and free for your kid or neighbours kid, or somebody's kids to play too.

(as much as I hate it, I have to live with it, selective hearing, that must be my next skill to learn)

generally the people using these terms are still kids...you'd be hard pressed to find an adult saying things like "Selling Ubler Doobler Godly fellblade...no No0b off3rs"

Let's not forget the LFG group messages - in caps, naturally. Or the people who just say "LFG" ... so, am I inviting a Yetti or an eggplant to my group? Maybe a Y/Eg, with mystical ninja powers? I can only hope...

Also, again in terms of a mission area; when people spam for LFM messages. "LFM tank be good!!11!!" It's stuff like that which will lead to the much-loved W/Mo in your party. "I am the invincable" - obviously not phrases like that as that is proper spelling. I personally like to, when looking for a warrior, say roughly:

"Beat your meat! We're looking for a tank for _______" Now, not descriptive - but I think from that you can tell I've lost seriousness when dealing with PUG's!

---

In terms of "leetspeak":

Gosu means "skilled" in Korean. Originally used predomenently in StarCraft, the age of SlayerS_BoXeR, Nada, Yellow, and a multitude of other amazing players. On a side note, the "Boxer Build" is blocking your choke with 1 Barracks, and 1-2 Supply Depots to provide a block against the early Zealot/Dragoon while you build your first Siege tank in TvP. And yes, I've made 3 posts today that all have a SC theme. I just felt like it today Check out my "133t" Carrier post :P

theres too many idiots in this game
yesterday
i was trying to buy some scales to get a new armor
this guy pms me, saying he has some
i ask how much he wants, and he asks for an offer
so i give him an offer, i say 10 each
he says he needs 15 each, so i say fine, ill buy for that
then he starts saying he wants 20 each, he told me he would sell for 15, and after i agree he tries to raise it
i say no, you said 15, and thats the highest ill go, he says fine i meet with him
we start the trade, i put in the gold, he puts in the item
then cancels it
i trade him again
same thing happens
then he walks off and says, im not selling it, i want 20
then i say, ill find another to buy from
and, trying to help him sell, i tell him that next time he should say how much hes selling for if he wants a specific price, NOT do what he did and give one price, then raise
and he says "i dont need your advice. good bye. good bye. c ya never. im blocking you."

what the hells wrong with that idiot?

ahhh you guys are funny ... that story just cracked me up .... maybe he was affraid you would magically rip him off with your Y/Eg skills or play some jedi minds tricks on him. *Chuckle*

LFM .... is spammed almost as much as ... 'What the hell is wrong with you monks? just accept dammit, Monks are so arrogant'

I love seeing those ... someone looking for monks, then insulting them, then starts calling for them again.

Or how about ... and my memory fades me, but I believe someone has already stated this at the beginning of this thread ... the guy in town who curses the ears in the public chat ... even after being asked to whisper, then curses at anyone defending why he can curse in public chat, until the whole town ignores him .... eventually calms down ... and starts recruiting for his guild again.... lol ... I love it.

LFM is looking for monks? I always though it was Looking For Members (for the group). that would explain why i dont get responses to it then.
