change it to *anyone who has gotten to accension or droknars forge* can dye their armour black, then i will agree with that.
Rayea: if you are only lvl16 you don't have enough experience to benefit from an Aura either...so it's not even relative to your situation.
yes, you did say it was the case. you said because i had not the skill and/or the exp, i could not comment on it

I said you were asking for something you wouldn't be able to have anyway...I am nowhere near 1mil exp..so I couldn't have it either. black dye is not expensive...ANYONE can be dyed black. I was dyed completely black after I bought my armor in Ascalon...MANY MANY people are dyed black. It is a personal choice to spend what money you do have on black dye(and when I bought it it was far more expensive than it is now around 6K).
Aniewiel...I did not call you a simpleton...only that our views of the world are different.
Dax: what other purpose does the aura serve?

so, how much time did you spend in pre searing to be able to do that? considering that the most an item can bring there is 20 gold?
i must be blinde to the black, because i do not see much of it.
which server section do you play in, usa/uk?
when did the game come out for you then?
i have had it since about the time it hit the shelves in the uk, and have admitedly, not spent so many hours on it as i would like, but when did i ASK for an aura?
i am simply comenting on something that other people have asked for.
are you sigesting that i confine my comments/suggestions to things that only *I* can benifit from or gain?

what is wrong with people?
People that play this game more than others, even though you all think this game should be balanced in and out (no matter how stupid and non-innovative that is,) do deserve something to show for what theyve worked for.
If they earn 1kk, give them something like an icon above them. People that see that will want it, and play more. Big deal? That doesnt hurt anyone. Then once a lot of people get 1kk, give them a reward for 10kk. Like a glowing aura.

Well, I suppose it could do something..if they wanted it to. But if I get jest of the question the aura would serve only as a reward or a certain look. But does that mean you're running around bragging or showboating?
What does dye do for a person?
What does fancy looking armor do?
What does end game armor do for a low level player than anyone can't accomplish with ordinary armor? (a loaded question... but seriously if you can't play through the low level with the armor intended..nuff said)
I think people can be idiots in town too (and I don't even like playin with em sometimes) but for somepeople they are gonna brag and showboat no matter what. I don't think adding a glow would encourage it.

I was refering to post sear Ascalon....I left pre-sear at lvl7...didn't buy the armor until after I had completed a few missions in post...and by the time I left ascalon for good I was completely dyed black...with no gold at all left over. it is VERY much possible...later in the game you will see it quite often.

The game does need more customization, be it in form of auras and glows, more armor, different character styles or whatever. If that leads to people bragging and showing off what do I care? Its just another way to recognize people that I want to avoid anyway.

whats wrong with bragging?
If you work up the money for years to buy a brand new car youre gonna show it off to your friends. So why not new armor or auras or things like that.
People that earn it deserve to brag.

What does dye do for a person? - Gold Sink (anyone can have dye)
What does fancy looking armor do? - Gold Sink(anyone can have armor)
What does end game armor do for a low level player than anyone can't accomplish with ordinary armor? - Gold Sink(anyone can have droknar armor before droknar)
see the common theme is that ANYONE can have these things...AND they serve a purpose in the game...removing gold from an economy that is overflowing with it....an aura is ONLY available to those who spend 14 hours a day in their mothers basement playing Guild Wars in the dark.....this introduces the idea of ELITE...the aura would be ELITE...and anyone with it would be ELITE(not just some social reject with no friends)....
you're going to introduce, to people who have probably NEVER been given any attention in life, an attention drawer.....it's not going to be good for the community...it's going to reward elitests
note *I am not calling all people with 1mil exp social rejects...*

Algren, in another thread yesterday, you indicated that you didn't "care about anyone" else in this game over your real world self. If this is true, why do you so passionately argue against any sort of "reward" for game longevity such as this aura? It shouldn't bother you one way or the other, should it?
And, really, can't -anyone- (to use your argument) attain 1kk points eventually? It took me 4 years but my Diablo 2 character is finally a level 99. Did it lessen my excitement that it took so long? Nope! Did it annoy me that others had gotten there in months instead of years? Nope! Did it make me happy to have -finally- reached a milestone? YEP!

i love how people think rewards are a bad thing. If you suck at the game, you dont deserve rewards. It's as simple as that, stop trying to be fair to everyone.
People that play more and are determined to get something should get it

well after i di a few misions, post sear, i was *still* penyless.
<sarcasme mode, activated>
so my mistake was to not buy my armour *after* getting through a few missions?
maybe its my build, being a Necro monk?
maybe i should just play a warrior/whatever like everyone else.
or am i not playing enough? maybe i should quit work to play all day to afford such things?
<sarcasme mode, off>
i was poor all the way through ascalon, was still poor by the time i reached druids outlook and expect to be poor when i reach droknars forge.
the aura costs nothing but time and effort, and if you dont like the idea of people showing off and bragging, why bother playing a rpg or a mmog? thats what they are about to lots of people.
it human nature to be ether proud that you have something, or to want others to know you have managed something that you consider important.
just because some of us enjoy the benifits of what others will use to 'rub-your-nose-in-it' doesent mean that we shouldnt think about it or even sugest it, simply to stop the boasters from using it.
it just means that were ether humble enough, or sensible enough not to use it for that reason.

like I said...I wouldn't be spending any time around these people anyway....I care about Guild Wars being a game that lasts and doesn't degenerate into a community of 12 yr olds acting like obvious 12 yr olds...which rewarding elitism does. This game was not designed to take you years upon years to complete...it was SUPPOSED to have a level field, balanced, so that no one character is obviously more superior to another. Introducing an auro or reward for hitting 1 mil experience is not what this game or arenanet wanted or intended.
and yes...anyone can hit 1 mil experience...anyone can buy a ferarri..if you worked 50 yeras of your life and never spent anything on anything other than food and a place to live....eventually you would have enough to purchase a ferarri...is it logical or even practical..no.
In theory ANYONE can have 1 mil experience...in practice only those with an extreme amount of time to waste can.
dye/armor/whatever is readily available to ANYONE that wants it...and without much time you can certainly have it.
want black dye? go start a new character and farm the catacombs for it. My necro has 8 black dyes
Reyea...I honestly don't appreciate the sarcasm at all...you assume I play this game alot...or that I am calling you a noob for not having money....take your trolling to other threads....
btw I do not play a warrior.
Nizzim: thanks for contributing....

Yes but not everyone has that much gold, just as not everyone has 1 million xp. I agree anyone can have these things, but my that logic ANYONE can have 1 million xp technically...they just need to earn it.

oh, and how the frell can you get the droknars forge armour *Befor* reaching the place?
go forward in time to when you had already goten there? (ooh, look, bob, a telephone kiosk, whats that doing here...?)(a joke)
now, if you mean that theres some other armour that looks just like the forge armour, then yeah, i get you.
and, the game already favours the elite-ist. it already favours the players that can spend all day befor their screens, wherever they are, be it mothers home or their own flat/house/caravan, simply because they have the time to spend on the game.
am i to call for a re-write of the game, to make it more 2 hours a week friendly? no. i just get on with my enjoyment of my game, knowing that they are *hopefully* enjoying it their own way too.
just because we sugest it, dosent mean its suddenly going to be added tomorow or next week for free, you know.
<edit> i never sugested you played all day, nor that you play a warrior. more that the ones that are doing this are the ones you are saying are the elite-ists. they will be what they are, no mater what we do, or what new toys are given them by the Devs. as to sarcasme, i have learned form other forums that it sometimes is usefull, and i list when i *am* being sarcastic so as to avoid it being taken for me baing streight. if your anoyed by it, then im sorry, its not meant to anoy, ind im not trying to be a troll (jk: i dont have the skin for it, but i might have the bad breath sometimes heheh)
what i am trying to do is take part in a discusion on somethign i find interesting.

given what we know about arenaNets intentions with this game...this statement isn't even logical.....I myself Will NEVER have an aura...because I don't have the time required to reach 1mil experience.....not EVERYONE is going to reach 1mil experience....EVERYONE has armor/dye available to them....and it's honestly NOT HARD to get.
Rayea: You can run from Beacons Perch through Lornars Pass to Droknar. By the time you reach Beacons Perch you are about 1/3 of the way through the game and the Droknar armor is the final armor.... This game does not favor the elitest...it does not give anything special to players that spend more time than it does to every other player. I play about an hour at a time a couple times a week(if I'm lucky)....I have everything available to me that is available to someone that plays 14 hours a day 7 days a week.
