we should get past the idea of refering to the henchies as having AI...because they don't

I help my gf online a lot of the time, and while I'm helping her I go on and level up my 2nd and 3rd chars through missions. Since I'm more than 75% afk I always take henchies and lately I've been more or less guiding the henches from one area to the next and then going afk and letting them do all the work! And yes, they're quite efficient.
I keep asking Thom to join my guild but he won't answer

I dunno, I still find that henches do some of the stupidest things. Running through lava, and I used Rebirth on Lina to pull her body from the burning fire, and as soon as she's out (With her skills recharging and barely any health) she runs back in to ressurect a fallen mesmer in our party, and ends up dead again.

perhaps there should be a chain of priorities:
1-stay alive
2-heal weakened members (if applicable)
3-fight threats
4-resurect fallen members (if applicable)
5-/dance

this is nothing new at all. all they did was change the way the henchies follow the main char.
also, i have on MANY many many times had my henchies (after i died) keep fighting, focus on one enemy at a time and defeat the entire enemy mob with out my help. Many times I've laid there dead watching my henchies kick ass. so I'm glad you are happy with the henchies but like I said its nothing new.

I like the idea, but there should be some calculations going on:
Most importantly, I've always had trouble with dot skills. Especially fighting things like dryders and the like. Dot on the entire party sucks, especially with a healer hench. I've seen them actually use protection spells instead of healing seed or just plain healing. If theirs a dot, fix it with a regen spell. If the entire partys dropping, use heal party first. And for the love of god, if theirs no threat, and everyones health is regenerating, resurrect before making sure everyones at full hp. When I die, I expect to be promptly ressurected after everyones out of harms way. I don't want to have to wait until everyone has full hp.
/dance just seems like an added bonus.

The protector doesn't have any healing spell. But what she has is divine favor. So everytime she casts a protection on you, you're actually healed, if only for a little.
As for dying, the AI actually promptly attempts to resurrect you. At times to a fault.

yes... it seemed like there should be a #5, but I couldn't think of anything And it would be funny if all the henches suddenly broke into dance when teh party didn't move for a few minutes.
Calculations would be necessary of course. When there's no danger res should come before heal, and when there's a dead monk, the monk should get the first res (to help with res).

Actually Protection Prayers have 3 non elite heal spells (2 that require conditions) and 3 elite heal spells (1 that require conditions)
But I have noticed that the prot hech will use Reversal of fortune.
Not sure wich elite spells the hench uses

You do not get DP when you die within the first 20-30 seconds of being rezzed.

Hrm. I too noticed the Lina connection. (Pre-Searing Academy Monk)
However, she's now of a much lighter skin tone, and much lighter beehive hair. If there IS a connection, I think her look could at least be updated to be recongizable. I, for one, wouldn't mind seeing a dark skinned henchmen. :P

Well theres also little thom. I'm sure every player made this connection if they've done a majority of the quests. It seems like that soldier is a little less portly than our henchman pal.

Heal Area! Heal Area!
Back to topic. I haven't really noticed substantial improvements in henchmen AI.... they blocked my path once...

I don't usually either, but did bring it one time and found a good use for it. One of my party was a necro. Between battles I would concentrate on the undead she raised and heal them so that we were maintaining a nice sized army of them.

Hi I am new on these boards but not to the game and I am on Guild Hall.I am a beta tester that goes back to Feb.05.I would like to know your thoughts on a Hammer Warrior as an AI so that there would be 3 to choose from and with some good skills.

i agree ... i do love that update re: henchies AI ....
funny story though I have to share ... l was in U/W playing my monk with my guildies running quests when I was heading back from the mayor to go get the monuments quest when we came to the stairs with the hole in the ground (you know the one everyone like hiding in) ... well guess what happened to me as I joyfully headed to descend down the stairs ... I went up ... and up and up like the broken henchies lol ... when they use to run off into the sky. remember those days. guess Anet flagged me as too powerful and swapped alesia and my role. Everyone was laughin so hard no one could get a picture then blammo I was in the lead back on the ground. Flying is quite fun I must say!
