Default Capes and guilds

I have to know: are there any good guilds who dont have a cape?
Or are there any at all? It just amuses me when people advertise their guild and say" with cape".
Personally I dont think they suit my figure

Perhaps many are still stuck in the past?

Early in the game, there were many guilds, plenty with capes, plenty without capes.

Free Players around asking to join guild, always asking or looking to join guild with 'cool' capes.

So the trend probably started there, then guilds started advertising having capes, and then it added up to capes, hall, and other items.

So, there aren't any good guilds without a cape?

Am not in a guild for various reasons, but a guild who would dare to swim against the stream would maybe interest me.

You can't get a guild hall without a super bib, and thus can't GvG without a super bib. So no, there aren't any good guilds without a cape.

Peace,

You need the cape for the hall, so you can't do GvG without one. I guess if the Fianna didn't have capes, they'd be a good guild without capes... But what's the point?

...Remember sashimonos? (flags)

My guild used to not have a cape, but then, my monk started feeling naked. So I made the most plain and *original* cape. It is pure black, no emblem, and tattered at the edges. I have never seen another cape without an emblem. Simple yet cool imo.

Sidenote: Is there a way for me to lose my cape? Or can I only redesign it? >;( My cape does bug me sometimes...

Hmmm...now I realize from a PvP perspective, you may be correct, but what about from a PvE only perspective? Some of us are interested almost solely in PvE and use a guild just for common social interactions. A guild doesn't have to be for PvP and it can still be a good, friendly PvE-focused guild. My friends and I currently don't have a cape and we're not really in a big hurry to get one. We came over from another game and are mainly just interested in communicating easily during our PvE adventures. That doesn't make us a bad guild, it just means we do things a bit differently than others.

Not participating in PvP doesn't make a guild a "bad" guild, it just makes them different.

If the definition of good = Ladder rankings, then yes, all good guilds will have capes.

Our guild wanted to go capeless... however, you're forced to have one if you want to purchase a guild hall. Oh well, we can live with it.

Our guild, Rangers of Danu, wanted to go capeless as well, being as we are mostly rangers. Alas, to have a guild hall, capes are required. However, there is light to this story, we made the capes fit our characters. Basically, we went w/ the tattered cape template w/ browns for the fore and back grounds, and a light brown for the emblem. We justified it in such that rangers exist in the wilderness, thus will need a cloak that they can use for a blanket or shelter if needs be. Maybe went a little too far into the Role but hey, easiest way to justify the capes to our other members.

the whole cape thing gets to me....I don't want one, and thus don't join guilds. This aspect of the game should be removed....how goes having a cape mean you're established enough for a guild hall??....

I'm almost tempted to join any old guild and just accept the cape...it's annoying to log in every day and see "you have 8 guild invitations"....I get guild invitations faster than I can decline them. Every time I enter a new area I have to see that stupid "You have # Guild Invitations" scroll across the bottom of the screen.

Do you know how annoying it is to have 10 different whispers going with 10 different friends? Yeah, no thanks on that guild = friend list thing...lol.

This would kind of all be a moot point if you could just toggle your cape on or off. Its as simple as that.

When someone at an outpost tries to recruit people because "their guild has a cool cape", I'll always be sure to voice my insightful opinion

I think face tattos would be nice but then I guess they wouldn't be visible on a good portion of characters. But whatever, as long as the price isnt super ridiculous it can work in town.
