Mmm it seems random as to when it happens but everyone I know has been experiencing lag spikes of 1 - 10 seconds the past two weeks.
Some evenings its been so bad that I've stopped playing because of spikes every 20 seconds or so.
It is especially not fun when you've just engaged a large group of monsters and you have to spend a random amount of time glued to the spot praying that you're alive when the spike ends.

If you are experiencing lag while playing Guild Wars, I encourage you to get into contact with our support team. You can submit a ticket on our support website. It will help if you include which territory you are playing on.

Thank you, Alex, for the reminder. This seems to be an ongoing issue with European servers. I encourage everyone to send a report.
As I mentioned yesterday, -before- sending your report, stop by:
http://www.pcpitstop.com
Test your machine for connection, speed, network stability, computer usage, etc. The site will run an entire battery of tests on your PC. Then copy/paste the results in your support email. This will get the process started much more quickly and bypass double emails.

On the note Aniewiel, you may want to make that site a sticky on the topic of the tech forum.

I don't think this is confined to the European servers; myself and a number of Guildmates (scattered throughout North America, on far flung and disparate ISP's) have been noticing alot of lag and quirky behaviour in the American region as well.

Europeese is the dutch word for european ... you obviously understood the meaning of the question .. no need to bash on a language issue.

I wasn't, how can I have "bashing" on a language issue when I didn't even know it was a real word. I was giving a helpful correctly. You post has added anything to this thread, at least mine did. Anyways nevermind.
Lag spikes tend to happen to me on peak times on the US server, about 8pm GMT. So my best guess is that it the servers overloading. I'm sure A.net have an idea of what causing the lag.
Oh and its RTSFirebat with a capital F hehe

FWIW, I've been having stalls (game slows to stop, then resumes after 10 seconds - 1 minute, and then everything that should've happened during the stall happens in two seconds) for about a week. Sometimes more, often less, but it's there. Last as recently as this morning.
Ever since release there's also been 'rubberbanding' (that monsters and players seem to 'teleport' around due to failed movement prediction) and that's annoying but nowhere near as bad as the stalls.
I'll report the stalls from now on.
EDIT: I play on europeaneeesian servers.

Well it looks like we arnt going to hear a word from A.net about it on these forums, and iv heard rumours that technical support just asks for masses of info about your PC and connection before telling you its probably a problem with ram or something.
Its easy to see these guys came from blizzard.
Going to acknowledge there is a problem as witnessed by an ENTIRE REGION a.net? Going to tell ANYONE whats going on? Or are just going to deny there is a problem until it gets fixed, if it ever does, if it can be?
you get a 0/10 for your handling of this problem as far as Im concerned.

I have the same very bad lag on the European servers. Today is worse than I have ever experienced. This seems to have started with the update of last week. Before that, I sometimes had very short periods of lag (maybe half a second, which was seen as so-called "rubberbanding"), but now it's qualitatively different. As more people have mentioned, whent the lag occurs my character is completely frozen for 10-60 seconds. Today that happened every 5 minutes of play, which means that Guild Wars currently is not really playable in Europe.

Just had my first bad issue a few minutes ago. On the way to Lion's Arch, no enemies around. Couldn't move my guy for 5 minutes, then he started moving all over the place. I'm on an American server.

If a.net would turn round and say 'Due to the school holidays and a massiveand constant increase in player numbers and server load, players may experiance adverse affects' OR 'the update last week caused some unforeseen server tension and/or coding issues have arisen that result in the choppy gameplay some people are experiancing, please bear with us'
Infact any bit of info, answer, excuse, truth would be highly appreciated and welcomed. Gamers like to know what going on with THEIR games, and if anyone has played Eve-Online they will know that a developer that shares its problems with the community is a developer who has HALVED their problems.
Its a new MMO, so perhaps they dont realise that the players can and will understand the problems, and perhaps they dont realise that a community of players who sympathise and understand is better than a community who feels ignored and belittled, but if this is a benchmark for how A.net is going to keep its playerbase informed of game issues then you have problems.
Work together with your players and they will help you to build a better game, isolate and ingore, or make them feel ignorant and ignored, and you will have a playerbase who feels all you want from them is their money...
Now I know this is a bit of a big stink to kick up over a bit of lag, but this is the first issue with game performance and playability on a wide scale since release, and youv been less than forthcoming with INFO let alone answers.
Make sure this is a one off occurance, or you will lose the respect, and perhaps the attention, of many players.
