You CAN get the uber weapons with max damage mods and all that quite easily, just not as fancy. Can anyone say COLLECTERS? I hear there are the most marvelous ones in the crystal desert. For 5 mountain troll tusks I can get a max damage req 9 shortbow with +15% when health is above 50%. Only problem it is blue, and an ascalon bow. WHO CARES? I stuck a 5:1 vampiric string on that sucker. There is stuff that would go for 50k+ if purchased from a player. That is how Anet intended it to be. If you really NEED that extra 2% damage, go find a collecter or quest for it, if you haven't already got it by the desert/shiverpeaks.

Doesn't the bow string go for a comparable amount to that now?
What we really need is some way of letting PvP characters get stuff for PvE characters (PvE characters can PvE characters and PvP characters, and PvP characters can aid PvP characters. One last link)
BTW, I farm a bit. This is for ten minutes or so, before I go back to helping friends out with missions and stuff, or training up my other chars. For me, farming is fun because it forces me to find a build that can, using only 8 skills, beat enemies of a higher level, normally in groups. It's a challenge. I don't do it to get a godly uber sword of godslaying.
EDIT: Had a look on the trade section. A 5:1 Vampiric Bow String went for 75k.
Check it out here:

Its official though, PvE is only that, player vs enemy, meaning you only should play the game to finish it, collect skills and from there concentrate on pVp. Farming or any kind of game interaction outside of doing quest for XP, finishing the game, pve is almost non existant now. Drops have been nerfed so bad that in a few weeks or month, items will probly sky rocket in price since drops are between here and there. Only the rich can afford things and the game is currently overrun w/ newbs who want their 20k fellblade w/ 15>50 or a stormbow w/ mods for 5k. I don't know about you guys, but hearing from people "this is getting boring" kinda makes you reflect on things. Game is only 2 months or so old and have faced more nerfs than most games out there. THey're hurting the people that who aren't hardcore pvp, game isn't just about that, thing were so much better a month ago, its just horrid now, why cant they just leave something that isn't broken.

Did you even read and (more importantly) understand my post? You know, the part that says "The swordsman's helm in the desert was the hardest to come by simply due to the rarity of the sand wurms. That doesn't mean the rest of my gear was that hard to come by." How about we use the most extreme example to represent the normal situation? I'm sure you don't see the problem with that, do you?

Good for them. At least they aren't here crying about how the devil ANet has destroyed their game/house/dog/reason for living.

It is pretty easy. I have done it before. I think you mean that it's not easy for you. I quantify work as something that requires investment of personal energy for some desired result. Farming is not work as it's not required by any means. I haven't had to farm for anything to be sucessful and obtain maxxed equipment in this game. So sorry you haven't been able to figure it out.

No, you need a hearing aid, you missed the point by a mile. I'm saying the influx of newbs dont realize the rarity of things and want to buy things cheap. The sellers who do know the value want to sell for such. Its a chicken/egg situation. Also, if you have been farming at high level, more than likely you are very far along. Also, having items priced as such, keeps newbies away from the more powerful items ingame. Now thing is, w/ the continued nerfing.... err updating, things will become so expensive that those newbies that started out will at some point be never be afford to do anything or buy. Trader prices are whacked, they say its due to supply and demand that the AI balances the prices. However thats not true, trader prices rise so drastically yet never seems to go down, even w/ people selling to trader.
All I'm saying is that problems that have arised/accumulated wasn't such a problem a month ago, they ruined the game w/ their updates that weren't necessary. Some updates were good. W/ the factions/improved interface and bug fixes. However they should've left everything else intact.

Reason: added the magnitude symbols so I wouldn't get flamed for multiplying vectors; I have no little arrows to indicate vectors

I love how people feel the need to express their hatred for one another through this game.
"I cant play this game day in and day out on PVP, but i deserve the same benefits as the grinders"
No.....you dont, anyone that thinks you do is, pardon my saying this, a child at best.
We all want this gay fairness and everyone is afraid of having a little bit of variety in the characters.
"Well yeah you can grind for four hours in fissure and give up 300k to get this armor that only looks a little better, but we're not gonna give it better stats. That wouldnt be fair"
^^^ WHAT????
What isnt "fair" to me, and I'm probably off topic but what do i care, is that kids can join up on pvp and jump striaght to the top of the pryamid with no work whatsoever.
Whereas, the PVE'ers, who struggle and play quality game time to get armor that should help you excell, get jack sh*t. It's bogus

I still don't understand... a newbie can't afford the best items, that's a good thing, right? why do we want to have best items affordable to newbies? if they can't afford it, they should play the game until they have the level/skills/player skills to hunt for one themselves, or get similar quality items for trade, or enough gold to buy.
Still being a newbie myself, I have no problem with being so poor and can't afford the prices for a GODLY MAX DMG DRAGON SWORD being spammed in local channel. I know I'll get on my hands on one when I need it, by one of the means mentioned above.
I have limited experiece with trader prices. but it does both increase and decrease from what I've seen. I was checking silver dye prices. few days ago traders were buying at 700+ gold, last night they were offering 200 gold.

If its skill and not hours played, then why bother trying to blend PVE and PVP?
Why bother having a PVE period? If the only point of the game is to climb the pvp ladder then lets just take out pve entirely

Computer Science...what an oxymoron
Nizzim: you fell victim to a marketing scam that the rest of the PvE community did...except for the minute faction of people that KNEW it was a marketing scam but didn't care. The PvE aspect of this game was simply to "trick" RPGers into buying the game. You've never wondered why it lacked so much in RPG quality?? It more than makes up for it in gameplay...but the gameplay was built and designed around PvP.

/dance doesn't do anything, but it's fun.
Dye doesn't do anything, but it's fun.
Having beautiful graphics doesn't actually do anything, but it's pretty.
Having 20 types of sword that don't behave any differently doesn't broaden the combat system, but theyre neat.
A new set of armour is for esthetic purposes, like dye, multiple types of sword, axe and hammer, and all the emotes.

yes but dye and dances werent just half assed ideas.
Those have been in mmo's for a long time
Having armor that takes longer to get should be better, thats the flat line.
Algren: damnit, you're right. Why didnt I see that? DAMN YOUSE ANET
