Report it, cos the general idea is that it's only affecting Europe. If what you say is true, then it could be a more widespread problem..

well, i tried loging in, and my game closed fine this morning.
guess i was trying to log out in a HUGE lag spoke saterday night. >.<
still getting lag from 5 to 7 seconds in lakeside country.
i have played many games that were multiplayer and a few that were mmorpg, stuff like Soma, Mir and price of quin had bad lag, but i shall tell you the worst lag i have ever had.
was playing Neverwinter Nights. in the action section. a server that was UBER, even befor the level 40 was added.
there was a special area that only 5 level'20s could go into, and had to have a DM present for the quest to get going.
everything was fine, the usual 1-3 seconds lag sometime, cause the sever had 5 lvl 20's and in the NUTSO area and another 3 lvl 20's i the rest. this was befor they found out how to deal with 20+ lvl char lag, and what 20's and 100% imunity ect can do to the servers.
then, our group got into the last area befor the main boss (i think)...i had argued with someone cause i had fllen prey to the nasty Transiton door...if you just ran through, it was fine, but if you clicked on the door, it sent oyu to the last area..nasty.
when i got back to the group, they were over the bridge, so i followed...and got into a fight, and died, and waited.....and waited.....15 mins and THEN the resurect screen came up, so i hit it, and....another 15 mins and then the server crashed.
now thats Total lag ^^

Please, all you people like this poster - please save us annoyed european players some more frustration and STOP posting your ignorant comments. If you don't have lag, continue happily playing on your american servers but save us your arrogant attitude, k?
1. NO, lags have nothing to do with ISP. My bf and myself are playing GW on 2 computers here, and we often don't get lag at the same moments. And sometimes when we do, teammates from other European countries get them too.
2. This was just too stupid to even comment on, sorry (I wonder what could have caused my PC to run the game perfectly for 1 month and then suddenly become "incapable to run the game").
3. European servers flooding with people at 3 AM? Yea, ok ... I'm just trying to find all those people in the half-empty city districts - must have problems with my sight.
/sarcasm mode off
P.S. Many people have reasons why they don't want to and won't move to american servers. why should we be forced to?
P.S.S. sorry for my comments - it's just that those all-knowing-ignorant comments really tick me off -.-

first off wtf is your problem, i was simply stating MY THOUGHTS
secondly, don't flame me, b/c i know mods are reading this
third, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it, keep it in your head where it does the least amount of damage possible
if you don't like my thought on this subject then stop whining like a little *fill in blank* and find something better to comment on
AND like i said, bandwidth problems with isp's are not with EVERYONE it's only a problem for some isps
last of all, i am not "all knowing" and i am not "ignorant" so don't call me either

This was out of line for what he suggested. Nothing in his post was a flame or arrogant. In fact, I read it as a sincere offer to help.
Secondly, no one is asking you to move to American servers. The spirit of his post was similar to what you're going to get from ANet when you send in your support ticket.
Someone offers you some concrete suggestions that are commonly given to people experiencing game lag and you call them arrogant and ignorant. Pretty rude if you ask me. If you were my kid, I'd make you apologize.

How come, playing from my unflooded low population density region of the Highlands of Scotland on a 1mb line, and experiancing no internet problems or lag spikes with other games, I have problems communiacting with and only with A.nets servers.
Im talking about when Im running around solo be it with a new character in Ascalon, or grinding some cash with my lvl 20, I experiance frozen gameplay, lag DEATH spikes?
Now surely if there was some kind of physical problem between my PC and your servers this would either A: stop the service altogether, or B: be noticable during my average days internet usage (looking up various sites from numerous places, playing other games with people around the world etc.)
It seems strange to me that lag 'appears' to be at its worst at the time the EU servers 'appear' to be at their fullest.
I have not submitted a report to A.net about this, because I dont feel handing some 3rd party information about my PC is going to be of any use resolving a problem that is originating outside of my PC.
Thanks for the reply, but if you cant give us any accurate information as to the real cause of the problem, and can only speculate as to possible 'natural issues' then Im afraid you appear to either know nothing about what your talking or your hiding something.
Now what exactly is the issue here? You do know what the problem(s) are? yes? no?
If so can you please inform your PLAYERBASE of the exact nature of these problems?
I personally have no clue what this means
'From what I understand, there are issues beyond the game that are at the root of this problem, which, if you think about it, is sort of confirmed by the fact that it's exclusive to Europe, don't you agree?'
Could you be more vague? Many things to my knowledge are occuring in Europe at this time, which thing sort of confirms the issue lies beyond you immediate control?
10 Days after the question is raised and this is the reply from A.net regarding the problem?
0 answers, yet more questions, we in the European servers still have no clue what the problem is, if A.net knows what the problem is, and if it is going to be fixed.
Btw Europe is not Botswana. If A.net are not constantly concerned with the stability of the EU, Korean and US servers every waking minute then they are newbs to running MMORPGS.
This has to be some of the worst handling of an issue I have seen since I started playing MMO's, yes even WoW could sort of solve an issue within 72 hours.
So to end my post, could we please get some REAL INFORMATION about this problem, and not perhaps sort of vague statements that 'might' be blaming the weather, perhaps.....
Wow

Hi, my last post got locked instantly, and although i promised not to speak on the subject again it is driving me nuts.
After Gaile Grays little 'response' saying absolutly nothing on the topic of lag of any real informative nature or usefulness, I have been playing tonight and have found that the entire European tema arenas are experiancing lag spikes that freeze for up to a minute every 15-30 seconds of unfrozen gameplay.
Packing in the PvP and playing PvE with a friend, he logged off because the lag was so bad we could not even hold a CONVERSATION.
Now I dont want to insult members of A.net unjustly, but does Gaile think that saying 'the fact all of Europe experiances these problems hints to a common issue' is funny?
This game, for me playing on the European servers, has at time of writing been completely ruined. I have played numerous 'laggy' mmos, and have learned to put up with a problem until it gets fixed.
However NO game I have played has lagged as badly Guild Wars is currently lagging. There is currently no part of the game PvE or PvP that is playable, and it has been like this albeit increasing in severity for TWO WEEKS.
I am monitering my own network usage constantly, and am seeing usage jump from a nice and usual 1-2% to 75% of my network connection at worst.
These spikes are showing every 10-20 seconds. EVERYONE in the European servers is experiancing this, it has been like this for 2 weeks.
Terminal problems A.net? Unless more infomration is given then us plebs will find the common denominator to be the servers we play on. The game is ruined, and it appears to be confined only to Guild Wars European servers, no other games etc.
2 weeks is unnaceptable. Other mmos drop the whole game for a day or two maximum and fix the issue, even if its a hotfix. GuildWars problems are getting worse. I fear if this continues much longer Guild Wars will be finished. For me atleast.

Well, I already apologized for being mean in my first post, saying that I'm posting this being very upset by players from american servers happily announcing they don't have any lag and suggesting everyone moves to their servers.
When you read that for the 20th time, it starts ticking you off ...
It's sad to see that you, like most players not playing on European servers just don't understand how frustrating it is ... since 2 weeks not being able to do any mission or arena battle normally, because you never know when it'll start ... 2 mins of normal play - freeze ... 30 secs - phew, freeze over, and just half of the group is dead! Let's continue .... 2 mins - freeze for 30 secs .... frantically push some skill buttons, watching them flash and nothing happening - 2 mins - freeze .... yay finally no lag, let's continue ... yay we see Granite citadel already, we made it! - oops freeze! - freeze freeze ...... Login screen with AGAIN an err=something, kicked out of server. And it's only what, 10th time today?
And just try to use the only chance in a week you get to go to UW - the real lagfest has yet to begin.
And it's like that EVERY DAY. Sometimes you'll have no lag for an hour, and then constant lag/crashes for the whole evening. Like many other people have posted, it's just unplayable.
So when you go on forums and read someone suggesting you that maybe your PC isn't able to run the game it feels ... odd.
P.S. BTW, I have done tracert like ANet has asked people to do and emailed them the results to help them solve the issue - so Im not just whining in forums.
P.S.S. calling someone whose age you don't even know a "kid" is no less rude that suggesting someone's comments were silly.
Anyway, peace. My anger is with the lag, not with the people.

I don't know if this has been posted somewhere already, but someone from my guild received this from ANet. Please use this to report your lag:
-------
Please run the following tests while you are experiencing lags. Do not close Guild Wars when you are executing these tests, simply minimize it.
Click Start->Run
Type command
The command console will appear
Test 1:
- Type Tracert - d 206.127.145.228 to perform a traceroute to our servers
- Please send us the output of this command
Test 2:
- Type netstat -n
- Please send us the output of this command
Test 3:
- Type "pathping 206.127.145.228" (this command will run for some minutes)
- Please send us the output of this command
Furthermore, please provide us with the following details on your internet connection:
-What type of connection are you using (Dial-up, broadband, cable, etc)?
-Who is your service provider (AOL, NTL, Zen, etc)?
-Are you using a router? And if so, what is the exact model description?
As soon as we receive these details, we will be able to further investigate the issue you were reporting. Thank you very much for your understanding and your cooperation.

I can only imagine how frustrated you all must be. I know that, given my obsession with the game, it would be HORRIBLE. I understand also why you took umbrage. Sometimes, though, it's best to post when you're a bit less upset.
My hope is that ANet will quickly find the answer to the terrible lag on the European servers so that you can all get back to "normal" (such as it is LOL!). That the lag continues only leads me to suspect that ANet is having trouble isolating the cause.
And, the kid thing was...well, just a statement....maybe I'm 99 and you're 75.

Maybe Anet could allow Europeans to switch servers(USA) while the lag is so bad then reset the server switch counter for europeans.
I personally cant play on european while the lag is so bad and have decided to goto usa servers were theres no lag.

first off i want to congratulate Gwen and the people she plays with/insults other people with, on knowing how to use a person/place/thing as a scapegoat for someone/group/country's problems
"Well, I already apologized for being mean in my first post, saying that I'm posting this being very upset by players from american servers happily announcing they don't have any lag and suggesting everyone moves to their servers."
1. NO where in my post did i say MOVE TO THE AMERICAN SERVERS!
2. NO where in my post did i advertise COME TO AMERICA!!!!
3. if your were talking about me "suggesting" that everyone moves to american servers then read 1&2, if you weren't talking about me, tuff luck your reading this anyway
4. like i said after you rudely commented on my post, i was simply stating MY thought on this subject
5.

i've bolded some terms that you should read
as far as i am concerned you are just as bad as when you replied to my original post if you are badmouthing my ideas of a possible way to fix this
like i said, great job finding a scapegoat....... for now anyway, i'm sure i'll be passing the baton to someone else pretty soon.
also, i doubled posted, so i deleted and put it here

when i read this the first time i almost fell out of my chair laughing, after i finished laughing myself to death i got serious and looked at every post in this thread.......
no apology, but thats ok, i decided to check my PM's
no apology.......
now this apology, did it magically disappear or did you make it then your inner devil forced you not to press the "reply" button or "send"
i don't know what apology your talking about, but generally an apology is given to the person you maime, harm, hurt, w/e, if you sent it to someone else that won't do any good
since i'm on a roll of finding hillarious things about the stuff you say
