seriously

not all monks are assholes

despite how i might act here, i'm one of the nicest and most helpful people ingame

i don't demand that my toll be paid just because i'm a monk

more often than not i'm the one paying for everyone

why? because i farm. because i have all of that extra money sitting around, i might as well use it.

Yes, I'm sure this is sooo common among UW monks. You essentially got scammed...and you blame the UW solo build because of it? You can get scammed anywhere, and it's because there are jerks out there willing to do it. Saying the UW-solo build is at fault and that it promotes scamming is like saying the trade window promotes scamming.

UW is a boring place to go to for starters, and even moreso alone. Every time I go there it's with a party in the hopes that we actually do the missions all the way through, but people seem more concerned with farming. If I do ever go back there, it will be with my guild or with a PUG that has intentions of doing missions.

And as a monk player (my IGN is right there under my avatar), don't let one jerk color us all bad. When I used to go to UW, sure people died, but not w/o me trying all I could do to keep them up.

But since people complain about us all the time, let me throw my own complaint out there... Some times I am set up for soloing or farming, but just feel like doing a group mission, or maybe I need the refund points to switch back to healing. How come nobody ever wants you then? All you hear is, 'Wat? u no heal us?' and then your kicked and called names, regardless of the fact that your still better suited for survival than most builds in the game. They can just keep you and get a monk who is a healer. Why? Because any monk set up for soloing really won't need healing, so that's one less person for that healer to heal. Plus our smiting more than makes up for a warrior's stances and strength. People are just narrow sighted sometimes. Outside of PvP, if you are not a healer monk you really get treated like crap. I'm not condoning what the person did to the OP, but I can sure understand how it could come to that.

you got unlucky, that monk was a jerk, but i have a full account of monks that 1 of them will be a soloer, after i get to 20 and ascended and all that stuff....but untill then im gonna be a healer monk with that character, ive met many quality monks in parties before, but you just sound like you got unlucky

One name in particular "-- udder ----" thats not his true name, but since you cant put names I decided to just put the udder part in, if you seen the name you'll know who it is. He joined us to be a healer, he comes in and makes the entire chamber attack at once and he just sits there with protective bond and healing breeze, when its finally clear we ask for rez and he just says "what use are you?" "I didnt bring rez" etc.

Thats just plain mean. If anything we need some kind of thing to announce your skill bar, cause you mostly have to take people for their word, and more than enough people are just there to screw others over.
Don't screw the Monk profession...

What you just encountered there was something called SCAMMING.

It can happen to every single profession. Of course its a shame it had to happen to you. Im sure most of the Prot bond Monks are not like that. I'm a prot bonds monk and i use it, but id NEVER do that. So please refain from trying to say that monks are like that.

When a warrior gets setups a group in UW of FoW then runs off with our money, do i say "OMFG warriors are scammers!!!111" No i don't.
BTW - this has happened to myself 3 times already.

Well JensD if this person is part of your guild I am saddened.

Have something done about that, not many guilds want asshole guildmates unless they want to be a guild of assholes XD

i'm not sure what the monk build is but for protection, maybe you can always bring a ranger with you. if the monk gets out of line, have the ranger spam nature's renewal (assuming it can break the monk build) so you can all die together.

fertile season will work too, gets the HP up and they take more damage...I know I ran some people thought and one was a ranger with a pet and she put up fetile season I went from 105 to 330,and took massive damage. I got away but the rest died. I felt bad, but I told them no spirits.

Obviuosly someone new to the game since they didn't understand why more health was bad(and a pet in UW). I left and let them go back to ToA, it screwed up my refund points some, but I didn't want them to sit there and watch me kill stuff. Even though it wasn't really my fault.

If I get bored and do join groups I let it be known I am smite/solo build and they can sit back and watch and when we get to the monsters I might have difficuly with then they can do some killing. (I then switch armor and try to wand/staff some, and throw a mend on people). But ultimately they join in when an Aatex has minimal life, take 2 hits and are dead. No other monks or maybe a single rez sig then they are sitting around watching while everyone else continues.

There is no pleasing people I guess. I can understnd where PUG games are going to suck every monk and their brother trying to build a solo build, all that leaves are noob monk or monks that aren't that good. SO what was once a hard profession to find pure healer monk, is going to be even tougher. Especailly in UW. FOW is another story since it is very hard to get far there even with practice. I can do the first mission and if I sneak around I can get to the bridge. But that is the limit pretty much so have to hope shards drop early. Spiders are basically impossible even with +4 mend I killed a single spipder but died before I couold get the leg it dropped . ut it was more for satisfaction that the actual drop, now had it been a gold fellblade/scimitar it might have been different.
