I still don't understand why it is considered "broken"?
I mean, if the traders offer buying price associated to thier selling price, I can see the bots playing the trader farming game and mess up the economy even worse.

hehe Orange dye isn't that bad... it looks really good on a monk. i use the cheap dyes anyway because you are more individual as a yellow necromancer than as a black one. even if you aren't demonstrating how uber rich you are.
however those prices are insane...absolutely bonkers.

It's almost like us "regular" players are being punished for actually playing the game, instead of constantly farming. This fails any test of logic I am aware of.

Just don't buy dyes. You don't need them anyhow, really.

An excellent solution. Ignore things that are wrong if they can't crash your game? Very nice.

I wish everything would just be put at a set price... same with dye, runes go up and down to. One day a minor rune of elementalist fire can be sold to the trader for 890g... then the next its worth 25g...

That he problem they are not.
Trader sells black dye for upwards of 26k, and buys it from you for less then 2k. Why would anyone in thier right mind sell to a trader if its worth 26k.

Imo its no accident or bug. I believe the traders are set up that way to help suck gold out of the economy. There are alot of people that hate trading with others and will pay extra to avoid it.

The solution is simple too. Completely ditch the miserably failed mechanic that determine the buying price. Instead the buying price is 75% of the selling price. The selling price is determined by stock.
No one sells to the trader because the trader will sell something for 3k and offer 1g to buy it. You are better off just giving stuff away at that price.

Hysteria, don't give this idiotic economy more credit than it's worth. It has no rhyme or reason, it's a completely nonsensical algorithm that creates massive fluctuations in prices for no logical reason.
I sat at the dye trade one day for about 20 minutes tracking the sell price for red dye. In that time the price varied from a low of 1 (yes, 1) gold to a high of a little over 500 gold, and every price in between. One second it was high, then low, then high, then highger, then lowest of all, then highest of all, etc, etc. If you had graphed it it would have look like a typical example of a non-linear dynamic system used as an example when explaining chaos theory.
There's no 'system' to the GWars economy, just a broken algorithm designed by someone who hadn't a clue how to code a decent economic system.
