Ok, I would like to start a serious trade about the economy update.
So please, don't flame here. Thanks.
Today, the economy has been "fixed". Like GW players asked, now the merchants buys your items at *decent* prices.
It means they won't offer 25 gold for black dye or superior absorbtion anymore.
This update is good, I think that everybody will agree with me.

But this "fix" has came with something else : a "reset" of the merchant prices.
That means : everything costed... 100 gold.
Ectos, shards, runes of superior vigor,...
Of course, more items were bought, more the prices went up... but slowly.
That means, some people just bought *insane" amount of rare items (ectos, runes) for *ridiculous* prices.
A few examples : 700 ectos for 200k , 100 ectos 50 shards some sup vigors for 100k , ...
The result is : some players earned some *millions* gold in ... 5 minutes. Without ANY effort.
I think there are 4 kind of players now :

- The players who are very rich now, by rushing the merchants during 5 minutes.
- The farmers who missed that, and *may* feel... fvcked.
- The "casuals" players, who don't really care.
- The PvP players, who don't really care.

For my part, I'm a farmer who don't like that game anymore.
Just go ingame, and type /age. Then look at your stuff.
Now, immagine : your stuff * 100 in 5 minutes.
How do you feel now ? Personally, I'm thinking I wasted *LOT* of time, and that almost everything I've done is useless.
Fissure armor for 100k (60k + 40k materials) is a joke for me.
Now for 100k what do you have ? 10 ectos ? Immagine that some players get all what they needed for fissure armor for 100k.

I enjoyed this game, even if they nerfed too much things IMHO (fresh golems, drop rate...)
Of course it has never been fair, but my mind is that a such game can't be fair, because of lots of things : ebay, "old farming" (fresh golems) , ...
But the difference is that needed an effort (time, spending real money...).
This "fix" allowed some players to get *insane* amount of cash (counted in billions) in 5 minutes, without any effort.
I have a question : could you sell an item for 50 ectos (in your mind ~500k) to someone who bought this ectos for 20k ? Personally, I couldn't.
Like someone said, it's like if you tried to climb the Everest, and at the middle, you see an elevator full of tourists, climbing it in 5 minutes. While you're still stuck at middle.

Fissure armor was a real challenge for me. In guildwars, you're not different because you got a *BETTER* armor, but because you got a *DIFFERENT* armor. You are free to feel this as useless as "gold fellblade".
For me, wearing fissure armor meant wearing something different like all others players, and is like a "reward" for the time spended collecting items. It was an armor worth more 1 billion (even if in old days ectos/shards used to cost 2k or maybe less). Now I don't want anymore to wear it, when I know that players made a "stock" of ectos for less than 500 gold each, while I was spending time (uw solo) or money (at least 10k each) getting them.
Why paying an armor more than 1,000k while some players will pay only 100k ? Why buying runes 50 , 80 , 100k etc while some players just paid 100 gold each?

Like I said, the game was already unfair, but now it's something different due the lack of effort and the insane quantity of unfair gold created. I just feel sad when I type /age , because I know that players got 10000 times what I got by spending 5 minutes. I really feel that I wasted so much time.

Please, don't tell me that having billions gold is useless, because gold = you can buy everything you WANT. And I'll ask you : what's the point to continue playing after beating the game ? To get more powerfull I presume. And if you have the gold, you have the "power".

I don't want to play anymore, because I make something like 30-50k in 1 hour (maybe less, maybe more, depends of the drops), and what is 50k in 1 hour compared to 10 billions in 5 minutes ? You must admit that it's nothing.

Can you spend some weeks/months collecting items for 1 fissure armor, while some players collected enough for 10 armors in 5 minutes ?
I can't.

Can you spend some days/weeks/months collecting gold for buying the weapon you want, while some players are able to outbid you at every moment, and while they can buy now the weapon they want, because they collected all that gold in 5 minutes ?
I can't.

Can you keep playing while some players got 1,000 times what you collected in month by spending 5 minutes ?
I can't.

Good luck, I hope Anet will do something, even if I'm sure they won't, because they're not really able to do something against that.

I agree, I was gone while this happened. While it doesn't really matter to me it destroyed the economy because everything became set. Meaning that everyone got to start from scratch except for one thing. they already had the stuff from the last time they started.

So no matter what you'll always have those extra hundred thousand ectos and all the other rare items hanging over your head whenever you play guild wars.

While I sympathize with your feelings, a thread bemoaning the same things you are was closed earlier. In the interest of equity, I am also closing this thread.

My advice? Take a month or two off. Then, hopefully the economy will have straightened itself out, the new areas will be in and you'll be ready to play again.
