Minor rune prices are completely out of hand as well. I can't understand that.

They're also incredibly common and even new players can get a couple per ascalon mission.

Please don't take this in a bad way but runes aren't ever needed, at least until you've completed the game and want to go to UW or FoW with some special set ups.
I wouldn't ever sit around waiting for a rune, just go out and have fun. If you're doing a build as if for PvP buying a rune won't help. You can't unlock a PvP rune by buying it.
Just check in every once in a while and you'll find one if you're looking specifically for UW or Fissure.

The new AI @#$%ed the whole damn economy. They're designed to be there to sell you runes/dyes/materials when you can't get them off players. Now they're just driving you to buy from other players, who pricecheck with the NPC before they advertise.
Devs! You're turning GW into a giant gold-sink! STOP! You need to rewrite the whole damn NPC AI system, because all it's doing right now is @#$%ing up the market.

Fluxuating economy is one of the things that makes this game fun for alot of people. Otherwise, collecting black dye and such is pointless, and people would have a fluxuating economy OUTSIDE of the traders. Remember before there was a dye trader? How much was black dye selling for in beta? Like what? 500-4k? Dude that's equivalent to like 40k now a days because everything kept changing and you only had 3 days worth of black dyes from the entire community. This game is designed for skill > time, if you weren't smart enough to buy it when it was cheap, that's your problem. Business skills are still skills.

I can't decide whether to laugh at Ristaron's post or not. Quick, someone call Blackace and get him to tell me whether this guy's being sarcastic!

Thank these guys who had to brag about how they could farm underworld alone, and who posted their build on public forums. If those guys had just shut up, the drops in UW wouldn't have been nerfed, and the prices for superior monk runes wouldn't be so high...
Once again, thank you guys.

I want to second this post. My wife plays with me, but honestly, one of the things she loves the most is trading. I'll come home to find her with a grin on her face and a, "Guess what, I not only unlocked all superior monk runes for you today, but I made 100k while doing it!". She's amazing when it comes to finding deals and making trades, and if prices became static I think she (and probably others) would feel gypped.

I agree, I think it adds an exciting element to the game...especially because I feel that most of these items aren't absolutely crucial to enjoying gameplay. I like watching the fluxuations and trying to time selling and buying at the right moments, etc. Now that I see I can sell a minor rune of minor tactics for almost 5plat, I'm debating whether to sell it and cross my fingers that I can salvage the one I have on my current armor or keep in just in case of the Oh so disappointing failed salvage...

I saved a few Superior unided runes, and I had two sets of armor (i made on out of my "nice" set before I knew that armor didn't matter with protect bonds). So I am going to salvage one set and probably ID the others ,spam them or just sell them to the trader since most people won't pay that price, they certainly aren't going to pay 50K for an unided superior rune even if the price for all is 40K or more, they will at for it to drop and buy it then.
I have been doing it awhile. With limited success, but finally got it tweaked. But not so sure that the post effected the drops. I think routine does that as well. I used to solo and do OK just in the chamber and the first set of smites (at that time I used to get wasted sometimes even in the chamber) But I usually got an ecto and an item. But after getting killed and going right back in the drops turned into demonic remains really fast. So I went to other areas and got 4-5 purples and golds, until they dried up, and got a lot of white stuff.
But I took some time off due to boredom and just not playing the game daily. Got the mo/war out of dust and went back into UW. Cleaned up on ectos for a few trips, but the items dropped were ot good. But after a few runs even the ectos stopped. I was getting 2-3 buy killing everything, but now I get 1, and a few trips I got zero.
So I think it has something to do with how many times you go into an area and how much time you spend there. I hope if you keep dying within 3-4 minutes it doesn't count, but if you are there for 45-60 minutes over and over again, it might effect your drops.
This is theory but seems logical since the "better" I got, the worse I collected.
If they really wanted to stop it they would put a mesmer build in there somewhere, like they did at all the griffon runs. You last about 3 seconds if they see you with that build.

its funny. 2 weeks ago, 30k for a set of all four. a week ago, 50-60k for all four. last night, 120-130k for all four. if someone horded them, they could make a fortune.
