The answer to eliminating inflation and stabilizing the economy is an obvious one. If Anet would set the traders to sell commodities at fixed prices(regardless of what those are) and also provided them unlimited inventory, gold would be steadily drained from the economy while commodity hoarders would reap no benefit. If only such a solution could be implemented in the real world...
Why won't you make the simple, clever changes that would make this game so much more fun Anet?

Or he can wait a few minutes for the cheeseburger resupply caravan to show up. Hey, there it is!
Now, his cheeseburger is fresher too.
The biggest thing is for ANet to keep the resupply lines for the merchants active. I can only buy so many cheeseburgers before I runout of room for cheeseburgers. If there are more cheeseburgers than I can by, Joe will still get his fill of what he wants.

and what happens when that truck comes in for resupply and Joe is out nursing a stomach ache and John Millionaire comes and buys the entire stock.....joe goes hungry again.
The economy is never going to stabilize at this rate. if ferarris were 200 bucks you'd still never get one because some millionaire would be out buying the entire lot before you got a chance to. That's what happens when items of seemingly high value drop drastically in price. They are ALWAYS expected to go back up....and there will ALWAYS be someone there to buy it before you get a chance to.

No, the point of Runes was to give you a boost in one stat at a health deficit.
Guild Wars has always been about give/take. Nothing in the game gives a sizeable reward without a drawback usually.

Yes, but you combine a superior rune of _______ with a superior vigor rune and you haven't really lost anything. But really, that's besides the point.
Yes, GW is about give and take. They GIVE people the great farming spots, the great drops, and recently the cheap, but great commodities, and now, (directly or indirectly), they TAKE it away.
GW = Give-and-take Wars
that was another rant...oops! I may be on a roll

So now John Millionaire has all the cheeseburgers he can store. Hooray for John, here comes the next supply truck, Joe's in line now and John has made nothing in way of a profit. You can out-supply the hoarders easy enough. Besides, it doesn't work that way in the real world. J. Millionaire already knows it's rediculous to hoard something with a continual resupply. People only will hoard things that remain extremely hard to get or are no longer being produced.
No one bothers trying to hoard cheeseburgers.

As far as I'm aware, ANET doesn't ever restock anything at their NPC merchants. Merchant stock is totally driven by player supply/demand. Once those who bought all the stock from the merchants start reselling their goods at a profit, the prices will go down and things will become available again.
The most amount of money anyone can have is 1,400 plat per account. Once you reach that, you actually have to start giving money away...
This is a good fix. Just give it time to work. The most important change is that *now* you can actually sell a product to a merchant and expect something reasonable. (As just one example, before the fix, steel was selling for 12plat/10 from the merchant but you could only *get* 180 gold for 10 from the merchant. Things were really that idiotic.)
Thanks ANET!

Think about it. Take 5 minutes. No, take 10. If you (not saying you, just saying) saved your gold before the economy supposedly "raped itself", then none of this would apply to you at all, as in my case.
Instead, all the "leet" badass obsessed people who simply MUST have the 900 million plat armor go around acquiring that, and the sword that is 9 feet long, all in some mad dash to impress....anyone whow ill be impressed.
Then, when they see something they honestly NEED, or WANT, tough shit. Farming has become too tedious for them to repeat, so they complain about nerfs not yielding enough returns, or the merchants are on crack and not buying their mats for decent prices. All of it comes back to the idiot who HAD 450 plat but spent it on "American's Pixel Idol".
Therefore, the whining is beneath me.

I consider this as much of an exploit as the one at Augury Rock... BAN ALL THE ACCOUNTS THAT BOUGHT STUFF FOR CHEAP! <-- Only reasonable thing to do.
Oh... And what the hell is going on with rune traders? Is ANet putting pseudo-runes on them to give some set prices. I see them up all the time but no matter which superior I try to buy, they ran out of stock. Aside from Sup Vigor and Absorption. If that's what's going on I hope ANet gets raped with a rake... And I'm not talking about the nice end... I'm talking business end.

Most of you don't understand that the problem isn't the new economy prices, which are good, but that EVERYTHING went up for 100 gold each (ectos, shards, runes... evertthing) for a couple of minutes. Immagine a player who bought 2k ectos for ultracheap prices (200 gold each, even less). They just turn the merchant out of stock. You want ectos ? Thoses players will sell you, 10k each.
Profit : 9,5k / Ecto
Time spended : 10 minutes to buy 2k ectos
I don't understand how can you thinking that "normal".

You know, that almost makes logical sense. The point of contention would be, if they are actually exploiting and to what end. Because if it could be tracked to online sales, then banned in kind due to EULA violation (which would be clever) then it could happen from either side of the coin.

the question is "was it a bug or not ?"
did Anet do this on purpose or not ?
IIRC when you see a bug and do not tell Anet but take advantage of it, it is an exploit

I would assume that the people are purposefully exploiting the market for their own gain. Once again, ANET has made the rich richer and the poor poorer. Oh, how I love the economy.

a way to solve the economy
going right into it
1. set a sale price for all items(materials).
2. in most one player game a player resells an items for half the but amount. since half seems to little make it 75%.
3. with the economy reset. i thought it was great. yay fair prices. then they were all sold out because of hoarders. solution:infinite trader stock.
this to me was an easy way to solve everything. it seems to me that anet wanted to simulate a real-life market with all the problems. hmmm. this is a game to be enjoyed i don't want real-life problems.
it may have its flaw, but i believe it will make the gaming experience better.
agree or disagree, responses are invited.
