I hate seeing so many noobs who just refuse to learn. All the classes are balanced and have their own ins and outs. There isn't a single sucky class in the game. They all have their strenghts and weaknesses. I personally hate being a monk, especially in PvP. "Rez me you n00b monk!!!!11" has come up on many occasions, several after I was dead . One time I got a similar demand, and I ctrl-clicked on my life bar and it said "You are dead" Then I get "I don't give a rats @$$ if your dead rez me"
Never underestimate the power of stupid people.

It's a great tongue-in-cheek post, and I'd be wrong to admit that I didn't have one or more of those frustrations with the other classes, or overlooked one class in favour of another when assembling a PUG.
For my sins though, I intend to try out every class in the game anyway.

I'm seeing some people here saying Necros don't run out of energy. My necro who is not quite Ascended has a lot of energy problems. Are you talking about using the elite Offering of Blood? I can see that would be very helpful, but otherwise, Necros don't seem to have much energy management.
As to the OP saying good luck to necros who want ecto etc. My necro is almost ready to solo the UW, I just need to get ascended so I can get in!

I'm a mesmer and love being one becuase everyone hates them i was in an arena and it was just me a level 8 E/Me (im only an ele for the energy stoage) against a level 10 W/E he was full health and i had about 50% helth, i cast empathy and backfire on him, he was dead in no time and i had full health. And who is it that runs in and casts backfire on the monk and kills him/her when she tries to heal, or uses power leak while a monk is using ressurect to stop it, what you said about mesmers not getting any credit, SO TRUE

I agree with everything said in the first post.. except for the warrior hating monks and monks feeling the same about warriors, i look at every player the same no matter what class i am.. sadly this is not the same for everyone

Being a necro in PvP is funny because no one knows if you're even doing anything. I was like patting myself on the back for a well played lingering curse on an over-buffed Ghostly Hero in a King of the Hill match and a few key putrid explosions but people were like, "Luna, did you do anything that whole time?" I stopped doing UW before the 105/55 hp monk build came up because playing monk in UW was AWFUL. It's impossible to convince people that it's hard to heal 3 tanks with 2 monks...especially when pretty much each tank needs constant heal/prot spams. Same thing every time: "WTF monk...where's the heals? Why didn't you heal me as well as you healed so-and-so?" despite that he claimed to be a tank, yet had no evasion stances. Being a warrior doesn't by defualt make you a tank idiot. I hate Warriors when I'm a monk

Yeah if you are about to go into a crowd of elementalist creatures. Let your tank rest and send the ranger in. They have atleast +70 AP and +30 AP vs elements. ""(If they are not poor)"" They take like 30 less damage.
And monks can do the invincible thing.
But generaly all you need is a good tank (Warrior) and your team is 50% off to a better start then the average team.

Elementalist? Well hell if they would 2ndary Necro they'd have unlimited energy now wouldn't they?

Actually... the only really worthwhile energy regen spells, Blood Is Power and Blood Ritual, are "target other ally" only, and can't be used on the caster. The wells are ok, as long as there's a corpse around... but corspes usually fall closer to the front lines, and so those wells are really meant to target the melee characters - that's why they have farily low energy regen, but high health regen. Just an FYI from an underappreciated N/Mo...
And yeah, the OP was spot on. I've even been guilty of one or more of those biases myself... when I ran a warrior, I really hated pets since they got underfoot so much. It wasn't until I played a ranger secondary with a pet that I realized it wasn't the pet's fault... it was the poor targetting practice and bad timing of the owner.

This is somewhat offtopic... but it really depends on what type of Necro one plays. In PvE, a lvl 16 Death Necro with lvl 8 or higher Soul Reaping pretty much never runs out of energy - at least I can't remember the last time I ran low on energy. I know a lot of people think Soul Reaping sucks, but out of all the characters I've played, my N/Mo is by far the one that has the least problem with energy management... of course, I'm mainly a PvE player too. It's quite different in PvP, with fewer corpses around and putrid explosion stopping the ability to raise minions, but that's where a really high Soul Reaping can make the most difference - at lvl 12, three deaths (enemy, ally or npc) is +36 energy, which at the right time is nothing to sneeze at.

As a warrior, I don't hate monks. It's because of monks that I can bring in a different skillset other than stances and multiple healing skills.
I generally hate other warriors to be honest. It's a lot easier if one warrior sits at the front with everything on him, and the monks worrying just about one character. Then come the AoEs, necros drop Mark of Pain, Spiteful Spirit, mesmer with a chaos storm or two. Meanwhile I sit with one healing seed on me and I'm fine. Throw in one other warrior who runs away when his life starts to drop and the entire equation is doomed. Now the enemies are behind me, chasing and knocking down the rest of the party. Energy gets low, everyone starts dying... ugh.
It was interesting when I was in a FoW group with two other warriors. We were constantly having problems until the other two warriors left. Then, everything went smoothly.

Actually I had that very same experience -(maybe we were in the same group). Two warriors bailed out and we had 3 monks 1 warrior, an Elem and .... I forget. But it was incredibly managable.

My favourite character to play is a Mesmer (with Ele secondary, initially, now Monk). It got really bad after ascension, going to ToA was a waste of time, everyone would expect you to be nuking, which with a Mesmers energy resource is undoable. Lets just forget recognition, for the work you do do in stopping monks, bosses and any other magic user. Many times I have left PUGs after missions, due to the amount of abuse about not pulling my weight and others claiming that thier nuking/tanking was out of this world.
Another issue is generally, the only credit I get is that my Mesmer is hot (well she is), but I refrain from ruining teenage dreams by revealing I'm actually a guy.
I'm just glad that my guild mates all actually recognise the uses of Mesmers. This is mainly due to me being the only Mesmer at the beginning, and being in many parties with them, enough so they miss me when I'm not there. Now we have a fairly large amount of Mesmer primaries in the Guild (for Mesmers that is).

When I first started I made a monk elementalist, since thats what I used in the free beta and it worked pretty good. My whole gimmick was charging in to clusters of monsters, heal myself while splashing out aoe nukes. It worked rather well for me. However, while doing all this my group mates would be dying. They constantly would ask me what the hell kind of monk I thought I was. I normally wouldn't heal them, because I needed my energy to nuke those bastards and heal myself. I used a sword and a shield at this point, since I really didn't care much about stat items this early on. So I got to yak's bend I think and then decided I'd rather just be something else.
I've played a healer in every rpg game i've played and I'm used to people giving their incredible insight into what I am doing, but I guess enough is enough. I made a mesmer monk and that worked out great. However, during this whole game experience I have found henchmen to be much more reliable, much more competent then most actual players. Quite boring not having the random sayings of other players in group chat, but thats why we fill the friends list and join guilds hmm.
Anyways...
