Where do you PvP?
Ick.
Last night, as well as this morning, I had some bloodlust for other players. Hopped over to the Tombs with my monk. A healer/protection/smite/whatever monk. Couldn't find a good team. When I asked what build they had, they started the timer. Bastards.
I hate doing it, but on 75% of the teams I went with, I left because they couldn't manage to coordinate or even kill the ghostly's. I don't mind a group getting to know eachother. I do mind being in a group with a bunch of morons THAT ALWASY TPYE LKIE THIS!!!??.
Two hours went by. Not a single group even remotely intelligent. I realize that there are LOTS of people, and I will EVENTUALLY find a good group to join. So I'm strip-dancing with a bunch of other players when I finally get into a group that tells me they have a "balanced" build. It seemed balanced to me. Hell, even had a Necro and a Mesmer that worked together.
We hopped on TeamSpeak. We weren't spikers; we just wanted to coordinate our efforts for effiecently. Took thirty minutes to get the group together. We finally take off. Got +8% MB after the Heroes. Nice for a first try. We end up beating a team in the underworld, and then we go on to the KotH battle, and lose -- but not without style.
We return to the ToPK and two people just leave. WTF? Another thirty minutes to get people in the group. Repeat the above.
After three times, I said "I have to go smoke some crack now to settle my nevers. Later guys. It was fun." And I went to an International district.
I saw a bunch of french people talking and using the errant "noob," "pwnt," and "n00b" in sentences. Yet I found myself being PM'd by someone who asked me if I was a patient player willing to try my best. He asked me what I had to offer his team. I told him I had all skills available, and would do whatever he asked.
This player actually said: "What do you feel most comfortable doing as a Monk?" I fell back in my seat and replied "Protection+Smite." Cool. This international group went to HoH twice in a row with me. It was awesome.
There are multiple points of discussion in this post:
(1) Taking so long to get into a group;
(2) Clicking "Enter Mission" before I can finish saying "hello";
(3) Ditching groups without so much as a good-bye after we lose once (even after a win);
(4) International districts seemed more well-mannered than American districts.
What are your experiences and thoughts with the above four points?

At my guild hall whenever I get the chance, sometimes at the Tombs, although I can never find a half decent PUG, and sometimes at the random or team arenas - because making funny builds and then owning a team with them and being called a "h4x0r" is fun.

I like pvp'ing in the random arena it's fun, fast and furious. the tombs take too bloody long to setup and go. I'm still waiting for that random group button. Oh yeah and when i do go for tombs i use my monk and yell out "random PUG team all are welcome! self invite starting right away once i get 8 for the heck of it" usually i get a whole group and go in 1-2 minutes and guess there where others just bored also and wanted some quick action. I chose monk so i can usually get the group past at least the beginning ghosts with ease. Also with a res spell to keep em going if they fall, rebirth would cripple me too much being the only monk. but then we get owned pretty fast from a well organized team. but hey, i'm just doing it for the fun of it and it's very challenging keeping a 8 man team alive as long as you can. lol!
yeah i like things really busy.

For Arenas, pair people according to rank and/or guild ranking, have three arenas and merge "shards" into the same game, separating only (1) rank up to 3, (2) from 3 and up, and (3) possibility for players rank 6 or above and guild ranking top 50 or above to choose a separate arenas.
This however, does nothing for tombs since it would end pairing lousy people up.

That the good teams and players all hang out in the international districts of tombs is one of the worst kept secrets of the game. If you're looking for a better PUG, don't even bother stepping foot in the American districts.
Unfortunately even the PUGs are heavily based on who you know. If you want to get onto a good team, I'd suggest that you just watch for good teams forming and try to get onto their vent server. You won't be on the top of the list as an unknown, but eventually pragmatism takes over and you'll get in on a run if they think you're competent. Show that you're competent, and, well, things go from there.
I guess I only addressed point 4 - that's because I have zero experience with points 1-3. I don't take blind invites in tombs, even when pugging - I message the leader asking what they want, and I only even think of joining of a constructive dialogue gets going. Anything else is a waste of time.
Peace,
-CxE

This happens often in American / European districts, that´s why I am always trying to find a group in international. However it´s getting harder to find patient and non-leaving players even there. So I solved it this way : I don´t go to Tombs with random pugs, only with my guildmates and with players from my friendlist. When we form a group and still missing someone, then we begin to look for some random people. When some of the invited random players is good, he goes on my friendlist for future play, however the majority of my group must be formed by people who I know.
We have often searched r3+ people as they are usually more patient, however making exception isn´t bad idea. Recently we have found a good protector who claimed to have 11 fame to r3. However as it came out, he made with us his r2. But he did so well that we passed it without comment and he went on my firend list for future playing.
So to get to the point : this whole fame/rank searching is very overrated. You can get some r4 jerk who will leave right after losing (even if it was that "losing with style") and some r2 well mannered player who has to lie to get in decent group.

First off, I want to say that you are perhaps the first intelligent human being I have ever met who did Hall of Heroes, and probably the only one I'll ever have the fortune of meeting.
(1) Taking so long to get into a group;
Definitely. I feel that something this challenging cannot be conqured by random individuals and needs to be set up. But since I have not met anyone smart enough I have no guild or any friends I can rely on for this type of thing.
(2) Clicking "Enter Mission" before I can finish saying "hello";
Exactly, if you don't know what's up then how will you even plan to win one fight? This is destined to fail against actual players and maybe even the ghosts.
(3) Ditching groups without so much as a good-bye after we lose once (even after a win);
Happens a lot. I really dislike this, that no one can commit to something even at the slightest hint of failure. It's really quite sad that people are this pathetic.
(4) International districts seemed more well-mannered than American districts.
I hadn't noticed. When I read that from above I thought you were going to say that you woke up from the dream. I should go there more often, and maybe even see you there? I'd be glad to work with people who can work out a system and a plan instead of recruiting many warriors and monks and what not and going in without a plan. Everyone seems to do it so it's difficult unless i'm in an active guild.

Im from Europe and basically most of the teams in the English District suck. ( i said most ok). So i got to the Int. district and I find that most of the teams that are winning favor for us are there, these teams are better organised and people there are always spamming out there skills/builds making it easier to form the group you want.

I find my non-GvG pvp in international tombs and have pretty much since I started doing tombs.
I have no-idea what prompted me to go look in internation when I first started Tombsing, but pretty much never look anywhere else.
I think it is like a basic intelligence test - if you know enough to go look for groups in international then you are already a cut above the rest. Sadly it also has been diminishing in recent times for PUG's as it has become much more common knowledge.
But then I probably do something like 90% GvG, 8% Tombs, 1% Random Arenas, 1% occasionally farming Trolls.

I wish there were a way I could blacklist an entire group so that if I join it, and all the players are idiots, then when I see them around in tombs again, they show up in a special color that lets me know they suck.
