First, Anet reads the forums. Check the forum leader list and you'll see two people, one from anet, the other ncsoft.

Second, by coming to these forums and expersing the difficulites he's having with the ingame trade chat, he's doing something about it. He's already found other people that have the same type of problems with trade chat and even inspired people to suggest ways to fixing it. Anet will see how many people are having problems with chat and trade, they will see the suggestions and they will do something about it.

I'm sure Anet welcomes everyone to e-mail them about their problems and suggestion. But no one should discourage the thread maker from experssing himself, especially when the majority of this thread agrees that something should be done to fix trade and spam.

That's the thing here. Very few people are disagreeing with him, yet he feels the need to flame those that do agree with him. He's flaming someone who, granted didn't read the thread to see that what he said had already been stated, agreed with him. And that isn't the only person he flamed who agreed with him. I fail to see how stating that asking people to stop isn't going to help the spam situation is disagreeing with the OP, yet there it is... he's calling people morons for the use of a single word. Yeah, that's really how to get any sort of support whether or not someone agrees.

the peopel who get flamed deserve it. wether they agree or not is not the point. everyonen who was flamed had suggestions like "go to another district" or, "yea i know it sucks but we have to deal with it"

to those people i say BS. we should not have to deal with it at all. it is in all areas and districts now, and has become like a plague.

and by the way your calling someone a jackass is not real helpful either and only makes your posts about anothers flaming worthless.

These are community forums. They survive and thrive because of the community. A community that insults each other has a bleak future.

We encourage threads that take a hard look at the game and suggest improvements. As I've said many times in the past, we're not Arena Net, we can't implement any changes, but we can provide a forum to collect your opinions.

However, when those opinions become rants, tirades, or one-sided bullying, they cease to be productive.

Please keep your posts constructive, or they will be deleted. That includes the TONE of your post, which is critically important to getting your point across. If you'd like a lecture on tone, I can talk with a few writing professors and get some material together for everyone to read. Otherwise, watch how you say something as carefully as what you say.

Name calling is just the tip of the flaming iceberg, but it's a pretty good indicator that a thread is degenerating.
If you see a problem with a thread, report the post or PM a mod. Or PM the offending poster and "point out" the issue. Don't rile them up by calling them names, that just makes more work for the mod staff and will not help the problem at all.

Tone people, tone.

lets say its your garage sale, you just graduated form college and you need to sell some of your old furniture because you are getting married and already have a sofa, lounge chair, kitchen table, etc...

you put up signs on street posts? you put up signs in store windows maybe? hell you might even put up a sign in the post office... now how is this situation any different than someone going into the local channel and putting up 1 wtb blah blah, or 1 wts, blah blah. i admit, again, i even said this in my original post, yes people abuse this. but the only reason they do do it, is to maximize their chance of selling their item. and half the people on here flaming me for putting up my Honest to god opinion about the matter at hand have done the exact thing they are bitching me out for. so next time some of you want to make a post make sure its got some useful information in it, or maybe even a thought out response to a debate question. or whatever the scenario is, make sure your post is relevant to the issue at hand and not just a...

If there was someone monitoring the ALL chat so they can warn and even remove trade and spam messages, then an evenvorment could be created where people can chat and conversate in towns.

I remember I went into town one day after an update to TALK about the update, couldn't, people just spamed shit, especially trade. It was a real let town. Heres a world with 1000's of people, and I can't even talk to them cause of spam.

I know, unfortunately you're talking on deaf ears. I think the game cool, and really pretty don't get me wrong. But it's a clear example of 'let's give the people exactly what they want' and they abuse the $%^& out of it.

I'm expressing my opinion, same as you. It's a useful opinion, not just a flame, regardless of the fact that you are cursing me and calling me names. If a majority of people want something to be a certain way, then it can be made to be that way, if Arena Net agrees.

Freedom of speech doesn't count inside a proprietary world. You make a big deal about how you comply with freedoms: what does that even mean? Am I breaking some law of free speech that you aren't?

Don't get all uppity just because some people don't like how you do business. I have as much right to say I don't like how you do business and intend to boycott you as much as you have the right to do business that way unless Arena Net stops you.

actually if you re read my post ( i doubt you even read it the first time since you oh so horribly missed the point, or just read it wrong) i never cursed( unless you were referring to the " ... save yourself from looking like an ass. in which case yes i cursed but it was not my intention to use it as a curse word, but only to use it as an example of what some people call a donkey or a jackass) and i never actually called you any names, i said...
1. make your post worth it, not just your opinion which actually is just a flame no matter which way you cut it. try and make it an actual debate, not just in my opinion....(like my post i said i can see why people are annoyed im just saying some people are freakin out over such a small thing)
2. make your post count so you dont look like an ass, not YOU ARE AN ASS... which would be a flame, and yes you do have a right to call me names... you shouldnt have to because this is a healthy argument. calling people stupid or telling them they suck because they think something would make you a bigot, no matter what you say your post was, its plain and simple, you would be a bigot.

oh and since you didnt get the freedoms thing i was saying im free to my opinion just like you are to yours, but calling people stupid or telling them they suck is not an opinion it is an insult and a derogatory comment.

oh and another thing, if a certain countries laws dont apply in proprietary worlds, why is there a chat filter? or an age restriction? i thought the game had to be made compliant to fcc regulations for american production.. id call those laws that apply to proprietary worlds... so why not freedom of speech, etc...

well a month has passed since i start this topic and the spam in local chat has gotten even worse. it now extends sometimes to dist 20+ it is more than rediculous how anet does not seem to care that this annoyance has gone beyond reason.

join us in the international districts. There are generally atleast a few people looking to quest and there's NO spam in the chat channel.

I believe arenanet will address this problem in the next update. God I hope they spent their time doing something more productive than nerfing protective bond. A new trade system should have been top priority.
