I wonder if the fact that every time I log on it seems like there are fewer districts is an indicator that change is needed, that tomuch change is happening or what... but I can't help coming to the conclusion that they are losing players. That hardly calls for status quo arguments. If we are seeing a continual exodus I don't think leaving it as it is is an option. The game isn't set up for the grinders who want an MMORPG, so they'll leave, the game isn't really set up for the PvPers either, making them work like crazy just to be able to play the way they want. Congrats, worst of both worlds. For those who like a bit of PvE, a bit of PvP t's fine, but the fact is that while I love many things about GW - (skill based game, the selection of build both at individual and team levels, low level cap and simply progressing by getting more skills) I can see why people would get fed up, and while I'll buy the followup since I will get my money's worth of enjoymeent out of it I would counsel ANet to pick a side and develop it. Either make it clear that you want a long term replayability through a great PvP setup or develop long term playability in PvE - grind, uber rare items, time invested not skill based.

I'm in agreement with Ristaron. Constructive suggestions are fine, but the complaining gets out of hand far too often.

What makes this thread so wonderful? It's just people complaining about complaining. So the first round of complaining is unacceptable, but people complaining about complainers is fine?

I don't have a problem with A.Net. Just most of them. Izzy is the only person I can name that is honest and straitforward enough to earn my respect. He doesn't beat around the bush with bullshit answers, and he's in favor of a game with the goals that they set several years in the past when they announced Guild Wars. He made the most important part of the game: the ~450 skills, and he knows more about the game than the rest. If anyone should be in charge, it's him.

I'm getting sick of seeing these "HEY STOP BITCHING" bitching threads. I love the game also, but people paid for the game, and they have the freedom of speech, so let them bitch away. Better here than in game.

Bloody hell... who stole your cloudsong?
Let's see you program the perfect, please-all MMO according the the every wish and whim of YOUR customers who deserve the right to demand it all because they bought your product. I paid 75 cents, in full, for a Coke the other day, I demand they made a bigger bottle, with less fizz.

bitching is 1 thing, but non stop demanding things is another. look at it this way, if you buy a console game and it has something in you dont like. you bitch about it and stop playing. you dont go around saying you will quit in X days if what you want isnt implimented and sent to stores your going to quit...........

Shake it up and leave the bottlecap overnight. Then empty the cola it into a 1 litre water bottle. You never said you wanted the bigger bottle to be full. Granted, it's a lot to go through just for that one sip of perfect cola, but we'll see through the pain.

I paid for a dvd player and it won't play <insert assorted blank dvd type or foreign region here> dvds, I want it fixed now damnit!!!
See how funny your arguement sounds when applied to something else. Furthermore, I'd like to pint out a small clause inthe EULA that you agreed to when you installed the game and created and account.
Quote:
You agree that NC Interactive may take whatever steps it deems necessary to abridge, or prevent behavior of any sort on the Service in its sole discretion, without notice to you.
|
This is from section 6 of the EULA, you can read the whole document at the following address.
http://www.guildwars.com/legal/user-agreement.html
The game works just fine, you just don't like how it works. I can go in and play both pve and pvp any time I want, even when I first installed the game before I had 3 level 20 pve characters, this hasn't changed. Nowhere on any packaging does the game say that you can do this effectively with every skill in the game, it only says that you can do it straight out of the box, and you can. If you have a problem with something in the game, take it the the suggestion forum. Word your suggestion in such a way that it doesn't sound, look, taste or feel like a bitchfest. Simply state what you believe to be a problem, why you think it's a problem, and perhaps offer a suggestion or two on you to resolve it. Based on what IGN has reported regarding the changes to spirits, it's almost identical to a suggestion I tacked onto a message i posted in Riverside 3 weeks ago.
Here's what I said
Quote:
I do however agree that spirit spamming is a little over the top, therefore, this is my idea on that matter. If a ranger summons a spirit thats already in play, that spirit is teleported to his/her location and no new effect is granted until the spirit dies and is recast. As far as HoH goes, this could result in an almost chesslike battle between opposing rangers as each repositions their opponents spirits to their liking
|
here's what IGN has reported as happening
either
Quote:
when a Spirit is cast, it destroys all other allied Spirits of the same type within its range
|
or
Quote:
Now when you cast a Spirit, all other allied spirits within the newly cast Spirit's range are destroyed.
|
Different, but very similar. I don't know if they used my suggestion, or if I simply came up with a similar idea to someone on the dev team, personally, I'd like to think they're using my suggestion, but it doesn't really matter either way. Make a good suggestion and you will get listened to. Whine, bitch, complain and don't actually offer anything constructive and you'll simply get treated as noise and ignored.

All sniping is moot here. This is a good thread, about a good game that has a bad comunity. Not the game's fault. Not the dev's fault. Not the OP's fault. It is all of us as a meshed unit causing the problems. Some things are game-engine related, some are internet related, all of them however are human-related.
Nice thread. Poor reaction to it. No Surprise.

I cannot express how tired I am of seeing people refer to this game as "free".
As for people blowing sunshine being called "fanboys", this is largely because in the first months ANY COMPLAINT WHATSOEVER, in fact any suggestion that all was not roses, was met with shouts of "this game is perfect, they never ever meant to give you those things" by all the ... you guessed it, the fanboys.

No game is perfect, because no human is perfect. A game is made by umans, thus is cannot be perfect.
Most of the problems stem from the players not playing fairly, not the developers, that's why the rebalancing stuff has to go on.

They launched the game alpha pvp wise. It had an untested system and totally blew up the creamy goodness of the game for a lot of people. That they were pissed off is understandable.
If the two new interviews hold true though, they are fully committed to fixing the game.

Hey, I'm sure the people at ANet have already learned how to ignore the whinging and just pay attention to the useful information. (Especially if they ex-blizzard people ) So we dont have to worry about hurting their feelings or anything.
What we do have to worry about, is making the forums so full of negative whinging that it's too annoying to read them anymore. That's a bit trickier.
I guess the solution is: Whatever you write, positive or negative, make it well written, and make it -entertaining-. (and informative if possible.)
I like cheese!
That is all.

There are severe problems with the game. Many of us has been in from the start. We know this - you don't.
Anet is just guys, like us - highly intelligent, handsome (pretty), and they (we) know best.
We know better. You guys are just a bunch of Carebears like Nash says. He he...
Seriously you the Carebears are just late bloomers and a buch of noobs Too good to pass up .
We (me) and some of the other bitches will make this game better for your benefit.
Say thanks and move on.
OOOOh that felt good.

I was really happy with this game until they decided to nerf the only character i could seem to get anywhere with in the last update. Seriously if they wanted to turn a fun game into hard work with no reward, i take my hat off to them for a job well done.
Definitely a plus that they're trying to fix vendor prices etc. But all that counts for nought when u have spent the last two weeks working hard to be able to afford that last sup rune for your monk. Now, without any warning (which seriously would have been very helpful), I've lost all this cash plus time. If they thought this was so necessary they could have at least warned people. Big shame imo.
That's my rant out of the way. I feel slightly better.
