Yes, I agree with you here. I know that over the course of the game I have given out money, weapons, raw materials, even runes, to new players, or players in my current party. If you are a new player, willing to learn, I would be happy to teach you. Our guild, occasionally recruits new players. If they are willing to learn, they can become great, competitive players.

I would be more than happy to assist anyone who desired help. Currently I've been playing my ranger, so I would most likely be on Kaya Longshadow. You may also find me under Erray the Magestic. If you need help, and all you can find in the dreaded chat channel, just send a message.

i love newbs. they're so eager to learn to be a good player.
Yes, there is no greater feeling than seeing a new player become an experienced player. And helping them is rewarding. Everytime I help a new player, I tend to get a rune of some sort. The gods of guild wars seem to be generous to those willing to help the new players haha.

Yeah I've had problems with this as well. I find it very amusing when I'm being threatened over an online game. This seems to be the lowest that a noob can fall. Not only are they harassing and insulting a person they don't even know, but they don't even know where they live.

Also, I have recently been in a party that was full with noobs doing the southern shiverpeak mission. Two of the party members were fully infused, and needed to take out 2 mursaat and 1 jade armor. I was hesitant about doing it, because no one else in the party was infused at all, but seeing as there were no other option, I knew that we needed the entire party to help. After losing several people during the fight, we ended up losing, because the noobs were each focusing on a different target. We didn't even kill 1 of them.

Again, I am more then willing to help new players. I occasionally do give in to the desire for money, and charge people money for long runs. If it's shorter than a run from ascalon to lions arch, you're guaranteed its free of charge.

What I don't understand is that the level 20's always seem to linger on the right side of the shiverpeaks. Doing a quest, or even a mission over there with a level 20, it will take no longer than 20 minutes for a mission, and less for a quest. So basically they're making 500 gold, for doing a 5 minutes quest. Wow.

I find the different emotes, yes, including the dance, humerous and enjoyable. While I do find that they are often so overused taht they become bland and unoriginal, I find that removing them would be extreme.

I also don't think that we should give the spammers another reason to complain.

The thought here in this part of the quote, that any "idiot" can make it to lvl 20.......is not necessarily true. Some players, for one reason or another, just won't make it.

Players just don't hear about them much; those who don't make it don't like to brag about it.

There are no godlike characters in Guild Wars.

I'd like to know what a classic newb is. the internet itself isn't very old, let alone online games.

... There's a difference between newbs, "noobs", and elitests, and the rare good players. Newbs are new players that just joined up, and don't know much about the game. They usually aren't very good, but they have the right to suck - they're new. "Noobs" are players that are just general assholes. These may also be newbs, but it's not a requirement. How big of an asshole you are doesn't depend on how long you've played (in my case, it's grown ). Elitests are players who think they're better than everyone else. These are the assholes bragging about their "godly" sword which has 1 percentage point higher damage mod on it than my drop, and he doesn't know it's a collectors item. They may not suck, but they're usually asshats who aren't much better than the average player. The ever elusive good player knows what he's doing, very well, and doesn't brag about it every second he's doing it. I haven't seen a lot of these since release.

I don't like the various bastardizations of the word newbie because there's a lot less stupid sounding names you can call someone you don't like in a video game.

You know, words that people can actually agree on the meaning of and who it applies to without getting into arguments over internet jargon.

Chances are, myself, or any other skilled player could take down another player with supposedly "Uber" weapons. (This of course excludes the warriors and rangers seeing as how they rely on weapons to do their damage haha) On occasion, I enjoy going into the random arenas, to test some new skills or equipment, and hope to find a balanced, mixed team of individuals. Instead, I find myself surrounded by people yelling random obscenities and people who don't realize that if there is a monk on the opposing force, they're not going to do anything to that warrior. I've had people that debate that the Mesmer should go first, and I can see their point, but there is really no excuse for attacking a warrior. Myself and most of the guild wars community, generally understand that the target order is: Monk - Mesmer - Elementalist - Necromancer - Ranger - Warrior, with some targeting changes due to effectiveness and build. I am amazed that most of these noobs are often in a guild, and can't imagine how that guild would rate if they were included in the gvg team. This is the problem with people spamming their guild. By mentioning that you have a guildhall and cape, they think that it signifies talent and intelligence. If they really had intelligence and talent, they would realize that spamming their guild across the chat, they would have no knowledge of abilities or the maturity of the players willing to join. On a final note, I would just like to add, that I am not prejudice to new players. Yes, there is a difference between a noob and a new player. New players are willing to learn, and can follow simple instructions, as opposed to noobs who spam random useless crap, and insist that everyone else is a complete moron while they attack a useless character.
Noob is not a word

I call them by their rightful name, asshats or tards, self imposed mind you.

And the post directly after the first is a godsend of sage wisdom

I don't believe talent has anything to do with this game, or many others like it at all. I think competenecy levels do, and the ability to follow a procedure through to logical ends, and the fact that so many people that are capable simply choose not to has got to have SOMETHING to do with it.

Talent is for the guy who helped write the game code for us. Talent is not something you exhibit on a pixelated avatar fantasy.

I think the overall community aire about this game has really soured my experience. If it is not someone complaining about the economy, it's someone else ranting about "you they he she it we have no talent".

It's game. It is not a wife and kids. There is a real difference. No, hubris is the problem, and star search be damned

It doesn't take much to get good at this game, just basic comprehension of the rules, and that comprehension stems from the realization that you are not a one man army.

You are not the all powerful, omnipotent god-emperor of the world with your W/Mo.

If more people would see it like a team game where you have to serve your role in the team to its utmost, it would be a much better experience for everyone.

... but most players tend to think drawing penises on the minimap is much more fun.

[Ah, the children from 4v4 arena. I know them well. Hate them all. n00bs with twinked out characters. n00bs who don't know when to shutup (why is it that the guy who talks the most shit is the first to die, no matter what team he's on?). etc, etc]

Lol this is so true, if someone talks crap before the battle this is the one we agree to kill first and over and over if he's rezzed. lol Quite hilarious and he usually just abandon's the group haha.

One particular one shouted out in the timed 4x4 lava map that we might just as well quit now because they had a superior warrior and monk and had won 7 in a row up to us. Heh, so we just waited till the time ran out and our Ele went over to the bridge and dropped their monk in a couple of seconds, we won. hahaha That was the most rewarding victory of all I think cause he smack talked the whole time before the timer ran out. lol

ok , some of you sound like elitis players , i mean , have you all win the hoh ?those are the real godly players ,....
i think most of the times , only the leader is godly , the guy who made the especific build with especific skills , the master mind ...

on topic , i love doing desert missions and island missions , i think its where newplayers need more help , and are amazed when team works and mission seams easy .. ultra fun
for those who have problems finding people that help add my char name : neoteo ex animo
ill be glad to help

about the chat spaming , maybe its not a bad idea to make a filter in " all " chat
WTS , WTB , would give a messege like "please use trade chanel " even if people could use other terms , at least , it will make them know its something people are trying to avoid , cose not all players read forums , so most of them might not know that its anoying ...

You've just lost all credibility. And by the way, you might want to run your posts through a spelling and grammar check before you post. This is one of the few of your posts that I actually understood a little of.

I have truly been guilty of having that oversight in the past, and I agree with you about that 100%. It seems easy for us here on gwg and other spots to assume that because we posted something, those in the game should instantly catch on to the trend, practice or what have you.

Thanks for making me realize that

If you are the judge of 'credibility' posting garbage like that on purpose, we are all damned.
