Default Todays Modern "Noob"

What is it with online games today? Everyone thinks that their "Uber L33t Godly Haxxor Pwning" loot make them good. When will people begin to realize that the max levels 20? Any idiot can get there. Or when will they understand that any good item can be purchased or given by a guildy, friend, or other player. Chances are, myself, or any other skilled player could take down another player with supposedly "Uber" weapons. (This of course excludes the warriors and rangers seeing as how they rely on weapons to do their damage haha) On occasion, I enjoy going into the random arenas, to test some new skills or equipment, and hope to find a balanced, mixed team of individuals. Instead, I find myself surrounded by people yelling random obscenities and people who don't realize that if there is a monk on the opposing force, they're not going to do anything to that warrior. I've had people that debate that the Mesmer should go first, and I can see their point, but there is really no excuse for attacking a warrior. Myself and most of the guild wars community, generally understand that the target order is: Monk - Mesmer - Elementalist - Necromancer - Ranger - Warrior, with some targeting changes due to effectiveness and build. I am amazed that most of these noobs are often in a guild, and can't imagine how that guild would rate if they were included in the gvg team. This is the problem with people spamming their guild. By mentioning that you have a guildhall and cape, they think that it signifies talent and intelligence. If they really had intelligence and talent, they would realize that spamming their guild across the chat, they would have no knowledge of abilities or the maturity of the players willing to join. On a final note, I would just like to add, that I am not prejudice to new players. Yes, there is a difference between a noob and a new player. New players are willing to learn, and can follow simple instructions, as opposed to noobs who spam random useless crap, and insist that everyone else is a complete moron while they attack a useless character.

turn off local and trade, and you'll enjoy the game a hell of a lot more, I know I did

actually the order should change based on the team. not always monk first. mesmers will ruin your day if you let him get off energy denial on your monks. he should go first.

anyway not a bad post but it needs to be flexible

I know what you mean, I can't count how many times people've said "Well...you have the 15k armor, you must be good." And then people get mad when I say through all chat something along the lines of..."You don't have to be even halfway decent to get money in this game. An idiot could work up 60k with the right build. It doesn't take talent to look up a monk farming build on the internet and go kill jade scarabs all day."

Noobs are a myth.

Yesterday I got another smiting/prot monk and two IW mesmers on my team. We decided to kill warriors first... we were up to 30+ consecutive until we were bored.

Haha, yeah being able to turn them off really does help, I know I normally keep trade off, and if it really gets bad I turn off general chat. Also, yes, the list was a general order for a balanced build. I understand there are specific builds, but when I wrote this, it was after a random arena, with a mixed team. I agree, though the order should and will change. And yes, those mesmers really are a pain haha. Another thing I forgot to mention, was the players who spam their junk that they want to sell in the common chat. I can't figure out why they can't post it in the trade channel. Is it because they're lazy, or just plain stupid.

Amen Reiden.
Every once in a great while, I turn local back on and within moments I find myself asking, "Why the hell did I do that?!"

Agreed. While I've earned all my stuff, my guild mates would have probably been more than happy to help out if I had asked. It's not hard to get a badass weapon. I've got 3 shortbows all with +15% damage. Granted, they aren't halfmoons, they're the Ascalon Bows from collector in mineral springs (his are short bows, I've tested). And yet people think they're probably crap when they see me with it because I'm not running with a Storm Bow or something.

Ah, the children from 4v4 arena. I know them well. Hate them all. n00bs with twinked out characters. n00bs who don't know when to shutup (why is it that the guy who talks the most shit is the first to die, no matter what team he's on?). etc, etc

THANK YOU! I was talking to someone in Augury last night about this after he was spamming his guild. I was like "So because you're willing to invite anyone into your guild, it's possible that it's full of people who you have no idea or not if they're complete douchebags. Who would want to be in a guild like that?" He had no response to that and continued spamming. Other people laughed and agreed. As far as guild halls, capes, TS, websites... no one cares. I can set up a website easily. I can get a TS server up and running in minutes (though I prefer Vent). Capes? Would prefer my guild NOT to have them as all capes are ugly. Halls are easily gotten as well now.

When I do find a newbie (not n00b), I take them under my wing, show them the ropes, etc, etc. I love newbies. They WANT to learn. They WANT to become better players. They are completely fascinated by calling and assisting on called targets. These are the people we need to protect from the n00bs.

That's exactly why i leave local chat on all the time. Sure, I get the constant wts spam, but every once in a while, i stumble across people who genuinely need help and advice.

And on behalf of those of us who are not overly experienced we appreciate that. I know I try to find things on my own (solo) but after an hour or two without luck ill pop back to the closest town and ask in general. So to those of you taking the time to answer thanx!!

I am another helper of the newb. I've given away countless items materials and gold to new players. I've even helped them in quests, only us 2, to show them exactly what goes on.

Of course they love watching my barrage, and I love showing it, lol. I will help out a ranger before anything else though.

i also like to just leave my local chat on to see if someone needs help. i've helped numerous newbs. some even had just started their character. I showed them call targets and announce and such. i especially like to help newb monks since they've got the most flames and i want them to have a good start. no to say i gave away stuff as well. nothing is more enjoyable then watching someone you helped flourished. i had even discovered a quest i've never done b4 while helping one out.

i love newbs. they're so eager to learn to be a good player.

I only use the term "noob" if they are a) not listening to more experenced player that know what they are doing, b)If they are spamming how Uber they ether look, have a good weapon, or "JOIN MY GUILD OR I WILL PWN U TO OBLIVION" and c) if they are doing something that they shouldnt, and not doing what the group wants(i.e a 10yr old that leaves cause we were "mean" to him, and yes i have had a 10yr old tell me i was mean and left the game crying, because i told him not to attak the mussart first southern shiverpeak mission, come on what a "noob" )

Yeah the angry children in randon arena. Some warrior started yelling at me for going after a mesmer instead of the monk. The mesmer was doing heavy damage to all of us. The warrior started complaining in local how his team wasn't following called targets... the guy never called target! i pointed this out and he called me a noob. So i sat down for the rest of the match ^^;

i blame sonny bono

after cher divorced him, something stirred inside him...similar to what turned anakin...he vowed to leave his mark on the world

he invisioned an army of women doing everything he asked...his catalyst was aspartame, codename: NutraSweet...he infiltrated America's food supply in the early 80's...from then on, any female borne of a NutraSweet-tainted woman was to be sonny's slave

for her service, she was granted an adult body sooner...larger breasts...rounder hips...all that good stuff...at a much earlier age than was normal...this caused the male population to go completely berzerk...ensuing confusion, doom, gloom...here we are in 2005

This is my defination of "Noob" ignorance, eventually everyone should arrive at the same point in the learning curve. However there are alot of people that remain ignorant for there entire gaming career.

What kills me are the LVL 20 noobs there all over the damn place.

When i see something like that in towns, i generally start a war with the person doing it. When i'm around piken with lower level characters, i generally even give them my share of the loot there too.

BTW: If you ever want help, just pm me. My warriors name is Squrl Boy, and my ele is Standing Room Only.
