Griffons do drop lots less than they used to.
I've tried Riverside with my wa/mo but getting past the mergoyle/icetooth took forever to figure out a good build for with the skills I had, and was a giant pain, so I kind of gave up on that.
It seems to me that just like it was in beta, the Divinity Coast drakes consistently drop the most gold and purple items-- now mostly midrange sheilds and high end staves and focus items-- and if you don't get one, it's likely that one of the six ettins at the end of the run, the way I do it anyway, is going to drop some purple and gold pauldrons. Of course, the run takes awhile, and getting the eye of janthir and all that crap takes fifteen minutes while actually killing the mops takes about ten, but its still worth it-- even if only as a break from the griffons.
