An end to selling.
Fugettaboutit.
Keys will be dropped, which will unlock chests giving out rare items.
No one will need to buy items again. There will be plenty to go around.
Actual trading may pick up... selling will die.
I think I like it.

I've always been a fan of gold items myself, but never bought any... not worth it imo. I like the change coming

Check the review of sorrows furnace at IGN.com.
There are going to be keys dropped that open chests containing rare items. Everyone with a key gets an item from the chest.
Plenty for all!

Selling will continue. Just because you get a key doesnt mean youre gonna get an item you need or want. So there will still be people wanting to buy certain items who havent otten them themselves. Besides, the keys are going to be rare and expensive drops as anet said in the release notes. I have a feeling they will drop about as often as scrolls do and I for one have never been in a group that one has dropped for let alone picked up one on my own.

The additions of keys and chests found around the world is a gameplay addition to fix the problem. These keys are expensive, but will also be dropped by creatures. Chests hold nothing but uncommon and rare items for players to use.
Even better is that no one will have to fight over a chest in an area. Everyone will have a chance to search it with their key (should they have one) and grab a nice treasure.

Expensive... as in you can purchase from a merchant? (Or locksmith... heh heh)
Expensive implies you can buy one.
As for not having what you want... I can see a new era of trading... hey, my axe for your bow... ok kewl...
I think it's time to give ANet credit. This just gets better and better.

The ign report did imply that they'd be for sale, so we'd have to see

But, on the other hand... the price will be less than the merchant selling them.

Go go wild rumour mill. Let's wait and see how they actually implement this, and how it affects the community, instead of jumping to conclusions based on a few IGN propaganda lines.

Question.
Did Guild Wars actually announce this update or this just something you heard from someone else who heard from someone?
I do agree that the selling system is not very good but it will be tough to implement a good one. Please elaborate on the key/chest thing. Or post a link to whereever you got this information. Thanks.

Anet has talked about it in some of the Sorrow's Furnace info, and the IGN report about SF talked quite a bit about it.
