Default GW=d2???!!!

in my opinion, this game is getting wayyy too similar to diablo 2..

first of all, these new green items are almost exactly the same as set items in diablo 2. they're the same color, they have names like _____'s sword or whatever, and there are multiple pieces to it. and i guess you can say that the gold items here are equivalent to the gold in d2, the purple equivalent to the yellows, and so on and so forth.

im not trying to say gw and d2 are the same, gw is definitely better gameplay-wise and graphics-wise, but im afriad its going in the wrong direction? all gw would have to do now is buff fire elementaliists like crazy so they can spam meteor in pvp, just like d2 sorcs do in pk games. haha that'd do the trick?

Incorrect. There are no "multiple pieces" to combine. Just because they added green items, and there happens to be green items in Diablo, the games are more alike?

Yeah, as far as I know there aren't any special bonuses for having a whole "set".

The special bonus is:

"Person XXXX is wield a The Yakslapper."
Same person: "Haha wish you had one" gloats and feels big.

With the way the green "uniques" were implemented, things have certainly taken a turn for the worse. Apparently A.Net took the same approach with the Sorrows Furnace update that Blizzard did with the LoD expansion (and beyond) for D2. The only thing that somewhat comforts me is that GW's power curve is flat enough to handle it, but it's still a step in the wrong direction.

Everything else about the update is great though.

I've yet to hear a solid fact in favour of this. You can't argue that green items are overpowered, since you can't change the mods, and most of them are daft. Nearly every stave has an Insightful/Hale combination. That's just silly. The only Defense/Defense option is under Death Magic and touts an unimpressive 10%/10% bonus to all skills. You can't argue that they diminish the value of gold items, because last I checked, Guild Wars' player base is still retarded. The world's still packed with mental midgets that insist on having gold everything (regardless of the innate bonus).

So why, exactly, are these "green" items so bad?

Plenty of people have asked for a way to automatically identify everything in your inventory at once, so the old Dekard Cane is not out of the question I'd say...

To say that it's become more like D2 due to the inclusion of green items is just silly.
WoW has green items too, and they're more like the D2 ones than the ones we have.

Diablo 2 isn't the epitome of everything bad in a game anyway.
Diablo 2 was wildly successful, and just because it was plagued by cheating etc, doesn't mean that making anything similar to it is bad.

I loved D2, but GW moving in that direction would be a bad sign in my book. Fortunatly it is NOT, and this patch did more to separate the gap between the two games.

It's the equivilent of you saying, "I'm weilding a PVP <insert name here of max item>" as it is to saying, "I'm weilding a Boss's <insert name here of max item>" So it's really just a way for PVE to compete with PVP easier.

Correction to my previous post:

This thread is a MONUMENTAL waste of bandwidth.

I am all for compare and contrast in a debate on an issue that is important to so many people (suddenly and inescapably it seems), but this is just stupid.
