Europe dominating the ladder
With Esoteric Warriors firmly holding the pole position, The Valandor 2nd (or
3rd, recently surpassed by ZPZG) and a good number of Eu guilds in the top 50, we can say the trend of US and Kr dominating is slowly changing.
I'm guessing Rus Corp, at number 4, has a majority of european players, even though they play on the american servers.
While the "quantity" still gives a great advantage to US (holding the HoH for long periods of time), the "quality" of guilds is on par, if not, recently at least, superior. Language districts problem persists and is as bad as ever (it's still very hard to form PuG for anything), but it's becoming a matter of sheer numbers, rather than good players. Since my old, sarcastic thread (Europe: losers' land) which has been recently resurrected, things changed a lot, and even in the ToPK european Pugs can put up some fair matches and hold the HoH for a reasonable amount of time.
I'm wondering if the situation's gonna last or it's just a "new ladder phenomenon" soon to be gone. Let me know what you guys think.
P.S.: this is kind of an off-topic, but I'm glad old and famous guilds like iQ and Nu came back from a period of gvg inactivity (relatively short for Nu, incredibly long for Idiot Savants) and took their places right in the first page. Since the new ladder started, competition seems richer.

I think it's partially due to wierd playing times. Val and EW obviously know what they're doing but I don't think they've played enough of the good teams either.
The ladder is really instable at the moment. Wait a month and things will begin to look clearer as everyone in the top 20 starts playing each other more and we see who is top and who is not. Treacherous Empire and Korea Friendly aren't viewed as 'top guilds' usually but trust me they'll be there.

Well... yea, since there's actually a reason to gvg now, as opposed to before.

EW seems pretty decent, I haven't played them, but from what I hear they play pretty good.
The Valandor are pretty good, but I think they'll drop a bit as they meet better guilds more unless they make some changes to their build.
I sense Rus Corp will drop quite a lot as they start meeting better teams. They run a ward camping build, which I feel will lose more and more as better teams get used to playing it. Given, I haven't seen them playing anything else, so I'm unsure of their profiency with other builds.

Hmm... just curious. About what mysterious "new better teams" are you talking about? Are they hiding somewhere equipped with their uber and _tested_ (lol) builds?

I met entire top of the guild of ladder, and through the skill of game they are located approximately in this order:
1. Union Team (really good players. plays various builds)
2. Esoteric Warriors (good monks and good build)
3. ZPZG (same build as Union team, but low expirience)
4. Valandor (good build, but only for beginning. weak monks)
....

Personally I'm glad Europe is owning the ladder. It's nice to see players
take control who might actually put some thought into their builds and
skills instead of 'NEED IWAY.'
I think the real reason everyone hates the Eu and Ko players is when we
have the Favor, they get off their butts and take it back. When they have
favor, everyone just sits in ToA and chat bashes Eu/Ko.
If my friends weren't all on the US server I would have switched a long time
ago.

Word on the street is that they run 2 wars with cunning spike, dom mes spiker with shatter, and spike ele with shatter as well. Didnt play them yet but from what i heard they manage insta drop targets consistently.

They're more than 2 (RUS is european, just playing on the US server), they're at rank 1, 3 and 5 and between EW (no.1) and ZPZG (famous for farming out their rank) there's a gap of 124 pts.
Maybe the situation will change as I specified in my first post, but yes, a gap of 124 pts means someone is temporarily dominating the ladder. It's not like EW is out reach but still, they're doing pretty good and have a fantastic w/l ratio.

if you add up points and count rus as europe, eu is still over 1000 pts behind overall in the top 10. not taking anything away from the top team, or any top team, just saying 'dominating' is pushing it.
also, i dont know what rus corp is thinking and if they are eu or not, but to get into the tourney they need to have 5 guys from the same region.
i would love to play a EU team for GW world champion...

Yes. I'm sure you can beat EW or Val easily with both your hands tied.

No idea why Anet considers Rus corp as American guild. Rus corp has hardly 10% on American server. It's Anet mistake which have been for 2 weeks already.

what are you trying to say? we are in the top .5% of all players, are you? anytime you want an unrated gvg lemme know. maybe you can get EW to give you one also then you can come back to the forums and tell everybody who the better team was.

The point is not wether I am a crap player in a crap guild or not. I'm quite sure I am.
But since I am not the one posting abject nonsense, and since I am not the one being deluded enough to think I am in a 'top guild' the burden of proof hardly lies with me. I sincerely do not see what's so great about your rating. If you fail to see the difference between winning 80 out of 82 matches and winning 56 out of 79 you might want to consider taking a basic course in math. Regardless, good luck in the championship!
