Default What about the none-farmers?

What about the none-farmers, arent we going to get some nice items aswell?

I don't farm.. I just help the guild and do missions+quests.. And PVP is quite fun sometimes aswell.. I have found 1 green item, that I gave away to a guild mate, and VERY few golden items..(only 1 golden item I USE) Even though I have 700+ hours now under my belt, I have still not got 1 character with good gear... and 15k currently in the bank...

As I understood it; this was suposed to be a game that was not about farming and grinding and spending 100000 hours getting competative items.
But 80% of my guild is farming, CONSTANTLY and this is what most of the other guilds are doing aswell.
I would love to pvp on equal terms with other players, but for that I have to delete one of my characters that I have spent hundreds of hours on?

:(

I don't farm.. I'm content with droks armor, and any weapons i find, buy or get from collectors.

I buy the cheap mods for my weapons.

You can PvP with PvE characters.

I agree, I play the game to enjoy the missions and have a laugh with me guild mates. I don't farm, have just ascended and have 30k in the bank. This is why one reason I don't do pvp (the other players are more kitted out for it than I am), the other reason is bacause I'm crap at it.

I'm not having a moan, I do what I want to do and enjoy it. I only hope the farmers can say the same.

Storage full of gold items and ecto, 300k in the bank....

Yep, I can honestly say I enjoy what farming has done for me.

The collectors in the game have items with far better stats then most of the gold items in the game. Most people want the "perfect" gold items only for prestige or for a place to spend their extra cash, but with the collectors in the game that are so easy to get things with perfect stats from there is no point in anyone making the "I can't get anything good without farming" arguement.
I am also a little sceptical about you claiming to have "hundreds" of hours in on all of your characters when you only have 700 hours in the game total?
not saying that you can't have that situation [aside from the simple math problem involved] but I have noticed that most people have 1 character that has been played a great deal more than others.

farming can get... slightly repetitive. and sometimes you wonder why the hell you keep doing it, i wen't through about a week of getting bugger all drops. (only a couple of runs per night and always did some PvP or such the rest of the night)

finally the gold items box seems to have been ticked again :P

There are people who don't farm? Can't be, I thought it's just me. Everytime I'm in DWC, it's all about farming. Everytime I'm in some major town - people are selling stuff for 500k. I even heard "My Health is 55/55" during mission - gee, I wonder why is that?

IMO, not farming and hoping to get good items is grinding. Playing the game "as it was meant to be played" is grinding.

I know for a fact that if i never farmed at all, i wouldn't have a fraction of my posessions. Up until the completion of the game (many moons ago ) i had only found one gold item and that was a non-max bow...when the gold drops were more common!!
Farming with a piece of straw in your mouth while wielding a razorstone FTW.

/quoted for it is the same advice i would give you.

You can also farm while on some quests. aka Fissure of Woe gives you quests while down there. Grab some guildies and go for a run when you have favor. Sorrows Furnace has quests to do also. You can check the chests in areas like Fire island chain and Shiverpeaks area as those normally yield gold/purple max items. there are many ways to get some good drops/stuff without farming. but yes farming will help you get the items/armor/runes/dyes that you want to have. hope that helped

i'm a non-farmer and i have some pretty nice items.

what most people don't realize is that you don't need the uber perfect stats gold item to be competitive in the game. what people sell for 100k+ is mostly for looks.

take a look at the weapons crafter in drok. he'll craft you perfect items for 5k and some materials. or get a few of the collector materials and get collector items. those are all perfect in the desert and southern shiverpeak areas. spend a few extra gold and get it customized and you're already doing more damage than most people with awesome gold weapons since they rarely customize.

what about perfect mods, you ask? they honestly don't make that much of a difference. the difference between 10% sundering and 8% sundering is barely noticeable, but the cost is. it's not anything that skill will easily make up for.

so, to all the other non-farmers out there, you don't need the perfect gold weapons to be competitive.

yup. we just have to educate the public so that they realize this and are unaffected by the power traders.

Just curious, what characters do you have? There are lots of farming builds. if you are thinking about deleting a toon and grind it up just for farming, you might as well try to come up with something on your own. I farm, and I came up with four different builds on 3 different characters. Testing out those builds is actually quite fun. I also enjoy trying to come up with new farming builds or any builds in general. Maybe you should look into that.

For PvE, you don't even need the best of everything to succeed. For PvP, just make a PvP character and you get the best available.

what most people dont realize is that the green fire ele offhand "the Kindlerock" goes for 90k. the weapons crafter in droks can make the same one for like 6..... but shhh The collectors 15 in stance sword with a furious hilt and +29 pommel you can have for like 30k total. the same sword being gold and selling for looks is 100k+

I guess looks are more important than function to most people, but they look cool too. for my first warrior i wanted stefans sword when i saw it. i liked the black mid-evil look to it, was happy to see that the collector sword was the same although they should change the long sword in droks to look similar since the axes all look alike

Indeed. It's surprisingly easy to get the 6k-something faction you need to unlock a Sup Vigor and 2 nice mods for your PvP weapon. Really, that's pretty much all you need in terms of items for PvP.

To the OP: my farming efforts have yielded me some 100+ rare items that are currently cluttering up my inventory because I don't bother with yelling "WTS" in Lions Arch for 10 hours straight. Despite all that golden stuff, 4 out of my 6 RP toons use some modified collector weapons (the other 2 are PvP toons anyway). Farming really didn't make me superior. Believe it or not, I am doing it for fun.
