Secret of Weapons Identification
I am not sure how many people know this trick, but since I think this may be useful to some players deciding whether to indentify their rare items or to sell them, here's a little trick I've discovered. Actually an unidentified item works the same as if it have been indentified. That means all stats of all unidentified items are determined when they're dropped NOT when they're indentified.
Here is an example of testing an unidentified blue Accursed Staff.
1. Original Condition, notice my health is 455.
2. After putting on the unidentified Accursed Staff, my health increases to 475.
Then we can assume that the staff at least contains a +20HP staff head/wrapping. Let's identify it to see if it really is.
Bingo!
This trick works the same on all mods on all other weapons, like insightful staff head (increase in energy). Some weapons are needed to be tested in field like Vampiric mods (health degen, health gain when hit). For gold shields, try putting on enchants/ try to be hexed, check the changes on your health or the average damage you receive. It's a little bit troublesome for testing damage bonus mods, test it with a clean weapon with the same damage range, record the average damage points you do with the clean and the unidentified weapon in different conditions (Enchant/Hex/HP >/<50%). However it's almost impossible to know the exact percentage of damage bonus.
Anyway this trick is for those who think it's worth the time to check on the weapon in order to make a profit, I hope this will hope you.

We had this discussion a while back... I can't seem to find the thread though, I'm burning through all the possible words right now.
EDIT: Found it!
