Loviatar, I didn't get most of that. Got the forth part but when did I say anything about dying?
And I know they're cosmetic grind items. But remember, many don't do anything else but improve their looks once they're done with the game.
Also, I'm a warrior/monk farmer, so I'm smacked too mate.

the dying was my part
i was refering to a big mob (8-10+) standing in one spot while a firestorm/searing heat combo fried them and they didnt twitch.

exactly right
I think it's good to make the mobs run from the likes of firestorm/meteor shower, but when the melee attackers run from balths aura? wtf?
a good idea taken too far. ANet will fix it soon, I'm confident.

Because "rich" is relative. While by todays standards 500k might class you as "rich", if everyone (or a large population of players) all have 500k, you are no longer rich. That 100k item would now sell for 800k, i.e the amount of money you need to be "rich" would increase. Large amounts of currency in the game cause it to devalue.

I agree there. Balthazar's Aura is HOLY! You can't escape that!
Ahh, Yamat, you're into something there: My point.
The value will go down, so weapons will reach sky-high costs. The problem is that armor prices don't fluctuate in the same way as weapon prices do. THAT's my point. If they make it so that you're rich when you have 100k, it's suddenly completely ridiculous to try and get Fissure armor since the price of it didn't fall together with the value of the money.

I think the update is great, they just need to turn it off for single hit spells.

351 votes against it? How does this happen then the thread for petition against the update is only 77+ posts long?
EDIT: 91 posts now. And not every post is a vote either.

Ahh but it will... the expensive part of fissure armor is the ecto and shards, and they are player traded... if "rich" is now 200k, either people will stop farming ecto or the prices will drop... supply and demand. Price too high, demand falls; price falls until equilibrium reached.

I think you'll find that's because all the whiners are in here complaining and the rest are out playing the game!

Well not every AoE spell is dependent on time... like someone suggested. Aftershock, Earthquake. They don't depend on time. Rodgort's Invocation too. And Incendiary bonds will work perfectly well because it will still do damage.
The patch is a good thing.

The combat is much more fun now, and a lot more like PvP matches.
EDIT: And mioga apparently can't count.

I tried some missions right now, and the new bot ai is retarded.
Orion casts firestorm, monsters run away, Stefan and Thom follow them and aggro more monsters.
And yes, in over 800 hours and 2,5 millions xp I know how to call targets, but missions are supposed to be challenging and funny. Now i have to call targets hysterically to avoid henchmens to aggro 20 enemies, and this is not funny, is annoying.

I haven't played with the new update, but they must have really changed Orion then. I've never seen him cast a firestorm until the monsters were already dead.

I, for one, am not in favor of redirecting the inteligence of the creatures in each part of Tyria. It is my opinion that redirecting this intelligence to be more useful does have a detrimental effect on the game.
I am not referring specifically to farming. I am speaking of PvE in general. It is difficult to measure how the AI will react in all situations. However, for AI to flee from me, though interesting tactically, will lengthen the objective and make missions seem more tedious.
Of course adaptation, where it applies, will be the guiding factor. Interesting it is though if yer ever in a stick situation and surrounded by baddies, pullin out an AoE may help save the day lol.
