Well there's also this to consider. An enemy that's running away from an AoE is an enemy that isn't attacking you. So even if it does take you longer to kill them, their damage output should be somewhat reduced due to the time they spend scattering from AoE's.

Yeah, I just love being lumped in with farmers AND being hit in the face by the developers of the game I paid money for. Awesome.

hah, if it was the farmers that got hurt! A decent farmer is gonna adapt their build or farm somewhere else.
The CASUAL player though.. or the fire ele.. is the one that got screwed over... actually, anyone who made use of an aoe at any stage of the game probably got screwed.

The only reason i started playing GW is because it looked a little bit funner than WoW.Now its not. After having a tiring day its just fun to go around killing things while yawning.i'm also glad this topic isnt a flame war.

personaly i hate this new update. they made farming dead.wat do u do after u have beaten the game with 3 chars? my fourth chars quests are soo boring. i love guild wars. PvP just isnt for me. farming is wat kept it alive. i hade a discussion about the update in augury with a bunch of players. all of them seemed to hate it.same in droks.i understand that they are making it more challenging but where do they expect us lvl 20s, who have done everything there is to be done (quests that is) to do now?

I'll have to come Anets defense and say that I don't think Anet did this to nerf farming.
There have been MANY complaints that PvE is too easy. IMO, that's party becuase the answer to 90% of what you face in PvE is "drop meteor shower on head".
Methinks Anet might have taken it a bit too far tho...

You know they could easily solve all of this by implementing Aggro into the game. I mean real aggro, not the kind that we have in game now. Get a warrior and deep wound an enemy, cause a lot of hate, and the monster sticks to that person. It works like that in most games that are successful and you almost never hear people complain. Learn how to control your nuking and healing and that's all it will take.

I want to know how this affects someone in the first part of the game... say they want to play an ele... they start with.. FIRESTORM!!! which by the sounds of things, is now usless. If anyone has a char in the beginning part of the game where you can pretty much get only fire-ele skills, let me know how it's working out for you.

If I may ask politely, why would you ban someone for flaming? Isn't that something people do on forums? Please explain that.

Griffons was ruined, oh well. Glad I found other spots to make money. I just hope what was said about Hundred Blades isn't true or else may complicate matters (way to make a hated elite ever more hated).
I *hope* that groups will be more diverse, although I've pretty much stopped pugging entirely due to the overall egos that everyone is sporting nowadays. From the way it sounds, the strategy that a lot of players have been learning is completely obsolete? I'm all for change, but completely reworking the mechanics behind the system just doesn't seem like the best approach to the situation.
The idea behind it, makes sense, but it wasn't implemented correctly IMO. Warrior enemies shouldn't flee, that's stupid. How else are they supposed to deal damage? Stick 7 rangers with 1 ele and drop a meteor shower then a firestorm. You're looking at like a 20 second window to kill everything. The fact you stick on Balthazar's Aura and you're dying target becomes like Moses to the water is just silly. Do the enemies still attack when they have Empathy and Spiteful Spirit on them? Do spellcasters still whip out spells as fast as possible when they have Backfire on them? Why target, JUST the AoE spells?
Think about how much stronger warriors and rangers are now that targets are constantly fleeing. We're looking at constant critcal hit damage. 7 warriors and a smiting monk with double echoed Balthazar's Aura. Exploit it while you can if this is how it truly works.

Good point. I played Ultima Online back in the day, when it first shipped. Everyone bitched and bitched and bitched about it, but they all stayed... chaos and disorder is far more interesting than peace and harmony. When Origin finally relented and "nerfed" everything to appease the whiners, everyone left and the game completely imploded. If ANet becomes one of those nerf-everything type of companies, this game isn't going to last. It's happened so many times before, to other games, its merely a matter of time.
I can tell you that I'm done with PvE if this update sticks, and quitting the game entirely won't be far behind. I don't mean this in a spoiled-brat type of way, I just can't see myself spending hundreds of hours playing a game where the rug could be pulled out from under me at any time.
