Sorry to be crude but no spell has been rendered useless, I am sorry if you just can't understand the idea of SLOW; you know crippling shot, deep freeze, shards, illusion mesmer line, etc... The only thing that has been rendered useless is the "OMG I Can button mash fire spells and winzor!"
Aoe's spells have been nerfed. What is the use for firestorm. So the enemies just run away right? It just clears aout an area now. Fire storm omg I hit them twice before they ran and that's worth a 15 energy spell witha 4 second cast? are you seriously kidding me. Fire is a joke in PvP and PvE was the only place it was useful. Now its totally useless. I don't feel like going fire/water for snares. You are biased against fire spells because I guess you feel left out. Well you know what air isn't that great either. Having my lightning orb at 16 air magic hit for hmmm 28dmg isn't really encouragin. Earth well I must be on the front line for that to work effecitvely and that doesn't work out to well even with armor of earth. Kinetic armor requires another skill slot and me to spam stone daggers yay ftw. Water is useless since the damage still sucks ass and its just an underpowered version of fire now. Not every mesmer is an illusion mesmer. Dom mesmer's don't have snares. Why in the world do I have to chase the enemies with my warrior? If they run away then I could simply just walk through the missions without them attacking me. This update is total shit and better be removed soon.
I can't BELIEVE the bullsh!t level in here. Have you guys at all played the game since the update, or are you just venting anyway?
* Mobs do NOT scatter at the slightest sign of danger. Mobs do NOT always run out of AoE's. They will get out of the AoE _unless they're doing someting_. Enemy _casters_ will also sometimes run from warriors, usually they'll try to kite the warrior into aggroing adds. Well, as all of us who've played PvP know, human casters stay and fight when warriors attack them. Right?
Yes, you can no longer send a warrior in front to take all the aggro, then nuke the area around him in complete safety. Amazing. Human players would stand around beating on a warrior who's got the backup of two monks and three eles, and ignore the casters. Right?
Mobs don't stay in AoE _which do damage_. Well i-farkin-magine that. I mean, we human players always stay in the AoE of Whirlwind, don't we?
Have you guys noticed mobs don't run out of Ward Against Foes yet?
This isn't a patch against soloing. It's an update of AI. Tactics which relied on exploiting weaknesses in the AI don't function any more, for soloing _or_ in teams. Deal with it, you lazy bastards!
Now, there are two problems with the update: the fact that monsters run from one-hit AoE (that's a bug), and that the erratic running leads to the movement prediction failing (so it looks like the mobs are teleporting around).
Both issues are easily fixable, and hopefully ANet hops to it.
Everthing beyond that is due to the most common source of errors wrt computers: SBTK (sh!t behind the keyboard).
That one-shot AoE spells cause them to run is a bug, and will hopefully be fixed soon.
Another bug is that the erratic running they do makes the movement prediction fail, so it looks like they're teleporting around. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon too, because it's annoying.
Other than that I just see lazy people complaining that the tactics they used which relied on exploiting weaknesses in the AI don't work no more.
Would YOU stand around beating on a warrior who's got the backup of two monks and three eles, all while the eles are dumping AoE spells on you? No? Me neither. I don't know about you, but I'd run out of the AoE, and attack the casters.
So why shouldn't mobs?
If you're a caster, and a warrior attacks you, do you stand still and take the beating, or do you run around and try to shake the warrior? Me, I'd run.
So why shouldn't mobs?

I tested this last night after the update. I tested this againt today. Hmm go and test the shit and see. Mobs do scatter at the slightest sign of danger. OMG balthazars aura at 0 smiting run!!! Ignite run!!! throw dirt run!!! The update makes them not sure whether to run there or back. hmm they just go back and forht and back and forth and when I come after them I must chase them. F U C K THAT! And btw most human players do stand in whirlwind aoe. The RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing ai is already cheap. and yes they cheat. Lvl 28 aataxes. Nothing can be over lvl 20. If people want PvE to be like PvP then take out ALL THE FRICKING MOBS WITH LVL 20+. PvE is not like PvP and cannot be.
I think the idea behind the update is common sense...enemies will flee AoE spells, but the total nerfing of farming will lead to an increase of people buying gold on Ebay in order to finance their weapons and fissure armor.
I will expect ecto to increase ridiculously and the uw solo necro build to replace the monk build (until they nerf that too of course). If the aim is to eradicate farmers then a price restructuring will definetely be needed...normal play will not earn you sufficient money to buy expensive items.
I have over 1500 hrs of gameplay...I love it, but this update went a step too far.
Didnt really like the update, wont keep me from playing GW tho. It basically made it easier for ppl to run others, and harder to farm. Guess ima have to start running ppl for gold.

Lazy is what you call everyone who didn't like the update. Btw this will never ever work. Running away from all aoe's simply doesn't work. Since everyone wants to make PvE and PvP the same think about it this way. If the monk is at 50 health left and crippled I would go after the person even if they had balthazars aura or something like that on them just to get the kill. but tha ai doesn't think like that. It can't think like that. What aoe dmg would anet make the ai acceptable to such as aataxes can take up to 25dmg per second of aoe's before running. then this would simple be exploited as well. Anet needs to test their shit before updating crap like this. They simply don't understand the PvP metagme and the PvE. It is anti-botting/anti-farming and they simply used the excuse that the mobs were standing in the aoe's and it wasn't "real". You know what anet you can't and never will get bots out so stop trying to make the players that actually play the game's shit.
As soon as I saw how it worked, I knew most of the players out there would hate it.
**WARNING. ABUSE COMING TO THE AVERAGE PLAYERS SENSE OF SELF-WORTH**
Why? Because most PvE players out there suck at this game. There are a lot of good players, but.... a stunningly large amount of ones that just shouldn't be playing skill-oriented games (Doubt that title for the game? low skill level cap, no godly items, easy-to-acquire elites makes for a VERY skill-based playing field). And this will make it harder on them.
Sure there's problems. But it's a massive improvement. I know that most players out there would rather have the enemy AI just stand there and use soap in the Meteor Showers, and hold umbrella's in the fire storm, but... too bad. Realistically, if little peices of FIRE were falling on your goredenginewhatever head, you'd MOVE. And if any of the people whining about the game ever elevate to PvE, I hope they don't expect monks to stand in their Maelstroms until their life is "at 25% or less" and then move.
And to the farmers out there... I don't think Anet cares about you whining about the griffons and aataxes running away, considering they don't support the idea of farming in the first place. Secondly, since some of us don't listen to them in this regard, it's NOT HARD TO FIND A NEW WAY TO FARM! Smiting is not your only option, and AoE is not the only type of effect that can make you mass amounts of money, fast.
1. I think they'll care when they get millions of complaints about how AoE spells are completely useless now.
2. That a few hundred (to my knowledge) are semi-quitting now due to the fact they can't Farm now...
3. I did still use my Invinci Ele build, and change Smiting spells to Fire or Earth damage but it's wayyyy too slow and not effective.
4. Farming was fun.
5. Again, AoE spells are just rendered useless now, everytime there in it, half a second there in an AoE spell they run out.
All I got to say is I believe anet will change it back since as soon as they lose 1/10 of their player base due to them being patch happy they are gonna try to get them back.
this new patch is killing me how can i get money now ZzZzZ Gw was so fun and now its like LAME common change it back your gonna lose like allot of people up in here
Anet is also big on a saying about Guildwars. They say Guildwars is a game that is determined by skill, not hours played. By taking away farming its become quite the opposite.
Its another anti-farming update. Anyone who actually believes its an update of ai is just wrong. They made it so that its hard to farm. Then they pass it off as an ai upgrade which it is not.
Seems to me that by Anet trying to get the monsters to play in a smarter way, they are catering to the PvP'ers here. It's more like practice for those players. To the PvP'ers I say, "Enjoy the part of the game you play for, but if you have opinions on the PvE aspect....keep it to yourself, and if you voted in this poll...thanks for screwing up the results."
I was looking to actually get into WoW when a friend of mine brought up this other game I had never heard of called Guild Wars. I checked out the site and noticed they seemed to push the PvP side of the game more than the PvE. I didn't like the sound of that and told my friend so. He assured me that PvE was great and so I bought it and have enjoyed myself immensly.
Now they go and change things and it only seems to benefit the PvP'ers who want to rush through (getting runs here and there), makes other players play the style more used in PvP. Fire Nukers are almost never seen in PvP, and now thanks to the update have become almost useless.
But farming...what's the problem? If you've finished the game and still want to play,it's the perfect thing to do. Those who complain about the economy and the price of things should just consider using their heads and finding ways to make money instead of bitching about it.
Sorry, I'm sure that these points have been covered already but I can't keep up with the posts here. Most of which seem to be by people NOT in favor of the update. I've seen this happen to other games I've played and I hate that it is happening again.
One last thing, maybe Anet hasn't thought about the fact that people try to solo or use less than the maximum amount of party members because alot of people are stupid and have no idea what TEAM play is. They won't listen half the time and leave as soon as things go bad. It's not all about getting better drops, though part of it.
Anet is also big on a saying about Guildwars. They say Guildwars is a game that is determined by skill, not hours played. By taking away farming its become quite the opposite.
That makes absolutely no sense. Farming = repetitive action that you do over time. Without farming, you actually have to use skill to kill mobs and get rich.
How do we all feel about the revision to the last update?
Reasonable? AoE seems to work fine for me now that the monsters are less sensitive. They won't stand around and die, but they don't flee like cowards, either.
