on a more practical side: it is possible to debate forever on whether ethics is bound by numbers... (people have been debating this since at least Plato) so let's not do that in this thread...

Thoughts on this: The Lich was a very powerful mage so maybe he alone was a great enough sacrifice to throw a deadbolt on the door. Also the Scepter floats up and disappears when we run like the dickens, maybe that's what closed it. Also it is a different Bloodstone then the one in Fen. Maybe this one is a lot more potent, seems like it would be surrounded by all the volcanos and such. The white mantle couldn't get too/didn't know where this one was so they were just going with what they knew.
I'm of the arguement the Mantle/Murrsat were doing the right thing, we just mucked it up for them, then did em one better. But it would seem when we catch a boat back to Droks we would have different enemy spawns. Like the Mursatt would be all "Welp our job's done...I'm goin to Disney World!" and you wouldn't see them anymore...of course that would make it harder for playing with your newbie friends to constently have lvl 24 char/undead etc reeking havoc whenever you played with them.

People, did you not get a little booklet with game instructions and lore when you purchased your boxed copy(and I don't mean the CE), or did you just buy a CD key. Many of the question about the White Mantle and the Muursat, and about Orr and the Vizier/Lich are answered within each areas respective little lore section, read it sometimes and some of those "gray" areas are no longer so "gray".

I agree. The book have a lot of information about what happened to Ascalon, how the Charr arrived to Orr kingdom, how Orr kingdom was destroyed and why there's no Charr in kryta..

I personally always wondered why, the SECOND something else came up, we shift focus to another fight - Like the Charr isn't a problem anymore..
It just seems too slapped together, and seems like your forced too fast through some parts of the story.
Not to mention roughly half the quests dont jive with the main mission plotline.

I am a big RPG fan -- so yes, I always try to read the background info. Unfortunately, I think the info contains too much spoiler. Effectively as soon as the Sceptre of Orr showed up, I realized who the lich is and he's going to end up as the final bad guy.
This, of course, made the whole White Mantle, Shining Blade / Evania thing pointless.
I mean, why even have the vizier named Vizier Khelborn? why not name him Magnus Mage or something, so at least there is the possibility that he is not the undead vizier?
Or maybe Anet just expect no one to read the manual before they play the game.

When did the white mantle join with the murrsaat, they werent in the jungle with them...? see the greay area? 1. When you go back to ascalon in one of the titan quests you see King Alser whatever-his-name-is making a last ditch effort to stop the titans and their charr allies this resolving what happens to ascalon once you leave.
2. answered earlier
3. personally this a true gray area i guess we have to wait for chp 2
Now for my rant:
The problem with this game is it seems to be bunch of random good ideas thrown together to make something horrendous. They added stuff like OOhhhh.... Ascenscion that sounds cool we can through that in somewhere, gotta add dragons i mean like their sweet and powerful and just over all hot stuff, and we gota make a great plot twist, so lets introduce you do this real creepy guy hlf way through the story and then in the end lets make him try and takeover the world. They took alot of great ideas and coppled them together andjust flat out ruined it. In chp 2 i hope they ask for indepth gamer help so we can become really adddicted to this game and spend like 24 straight hours jus to beat it
end rant
Begin Questions:
1: What makes you chosen? Ans? could it be you have the king of Orrs blood in you so you can control the bloodstones?
2: Where did the sceptor of Orr go? Ans? could glint have taken it?
3: Why do the Charr worship the Titans? Could their be another gate of komalie that THEY are trying to open?
4: Do the old gods ever return? Ans? No freakin idea why! Do you think i asked?
5: Where is Cantha? And Who/What lives there? Ans? Another world that the gods created after tyria?
6: And most Important: WHERE the HECK is GWEN????????????

Well we just played Chapter 1 out of unknown amount of chapters.
Maybe all those questions will be answered in later chapters.. If not, it leave place to imagination. I always like when there's unanswered questions in stories. So people can make their own assumptions and you always end up with lot of cool stories. Just like in this thread with mursaat maybe being the good guy. Or in an older thread Gwen working for the charrs to avoid being killed by them.

Well, to all the people saying "what would you do if you were in the mursaat's shoes?"... Well, what if 8 mursaat were to form a party and kill the Lich, wouldn't that be the end of it, no sacrifices required? I seem to recall that's how someone ended up going about saving the world.
And, in any case, sacrificing 10 people a day every day until the end of time means you've taken a lot more lives than if you had just let it all go down the crapper from the start, killing 6 billion people in the process. You'd just choose the path that's easier for you (as in... "Am I one of these 6 billion people? Yes. Am I one of the 10 people to be sacrificed today? Nope. Let's think, then... should I sacrifice 10 random people, or let the world blow up with me still standing on top of it? Well, let the sacrifices begin!")

Think about it:
We believe the terrorists may have weapons of mass destruction =
We believe the Charr are planning something outside the Northern Wall (Pre S)
We will go to war with Osama and terror = We will drive the Charr from this land
ALLUVASUDDEN.....
We are going after Saddam Hussein, who is a threat to freedom = We will fight
the White Mantle
We have stopped Hussein, but we must now put an end to the Al Quida (sp?)
= We must now face the Mursaat, and open the Door of Komalie
Current state of the war = Err=7
