Giver, by far. I use collector's items so anything that isn't perfect gets sold/given. Anything that won't fetch a lot will just get given away.

No point in wasting time and you help someone also.

I enjoy being able to give stuff away, things like a low req. firey dragon sword especially, because someone new to the game wants to have one of those cool looking swords.. much harder to give a flamberg away, or a mursat hammer (in the lower areas). And I'm always amazed at people who buy from me and I end up getting more than the price I asked for, so in that respect, I'm happy to take.

I give away all the purple and golds I would've merchanted anyway to friends / guildies. I used to try to give to noobs, but ironically it always took me a while to find people willing to take free stuff. *shrugs*

I'll be a giver if you beg and kiss my feet, give me an ecto in return, or you are a nice guildie. Bring back the old(like one of my guildies) thread baby!

I'm definitely not a taker. At best I like to find all the items that I use, and do not like to be given them and I never buy them (sorry, all you traders out there). Only time I accept items is from close friends.

I am not a giver either. I don't sell any items to strangers, only to merchants and traders (haven't figured out what to do if I ever get an abundance of green items, as the merchants don't give squat for those). And I give good items away only to close friends.

What I don't like is people asking for money. Play the game and earn money through drops! And I really dislike the party member who asks for that weapon that just dropped for me.

I guess I play like this because I don't have expensive tastes, and do not spend a lot of time farming, buying or selling.

My honest answer is that I'm mostly taker because I don't trust strangers. Familiar players don't need the stuff I can give for free. I rather teach them to farm anyway.

However, I'm not a beggar. If someone offers something for free, I will take it if it is something useful.

Mostly a giver.

Guildies get whatever they need unless it is super valuable, I'm not rich but can buy what I need.

In a PUG if someone asks for something I usually give it to them.

I am not afraid to ask for stuff from Guildies and always offer to pay or trade but they usually don't need anything. It is usually something weird like I need a Frost Griffon Wing or something like that.
