Are you saying that there are some monsters who drop candy shards?

of course the Greneth present explode, the story teller in Ascalon telles the story about the Greneth follower giving exploding gidfts and says that Dwayana follwers never accept gifts from Grneth followers.

I hope not, this is so damn useful!
The Halloween stuff is still in so I think that the canes will stay. BTW I just turned my 165 carvings into parchment NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Grawls seem to do fine for me... And also, you can use their necklaces for some items.

Just to throw in my 2 cents ...

Fastest/easiest way IMHO is to go north out of Nolani Academy to farm singed gargoyle skulls (there is practically a herd of them out there) for two reasons:

1) A good amount of candy cane shards
2) Singed gargoyle skulls = Necromancer Malaise in Ascalon city, who only requires 1 skull per collector's item.

Been averaging about 16-22 skulls a trip, 4-6 shards a trip, with trips taking in the 3-5 minute range.

Happy wintersday everyone!

start the Nolani mission, prep yourself, open the gate, and voila! Charr everywhere..... plenty o' carvings, some candy cane shards, sickles/tribal axes, minor runes, and dyes (though it seems they lowered charr hide drop rate?)

actually a relief from other farm-exploits

Default difference between shards?

does anyone know the difference between the 2 different candy cane shards? one of them says salvage item, and the other (from winter gifts) does not. has anyone tried salvaging the salvage ones? i would, but im afraid it would give me junk and be a waste of a shard.

I know they both can be traded for weapons, and that's all that matters to me

Don't bother salvaging the salvagable shard. I tried with an expert kit, and only got a single pile of glittering dust.

Really? Mine acts like a longbow with a low arc. It hits enemies on the edge of my aggro ring, where my shortbow hits a bit inside that ring.
