No matter how you look at this its all about stategy.
If you copy my build and then face me with it I will know exactly what weaknesses to exploit while you have no idea how to run it.
Builds are not everything strategy is.

The winner of courtyard and Halls are more cerebral. You have to size up your build against hte others formulate a stragetegy to hold altar the whole time or to run in and cap at the end. Its just not random. If one team yer up against in courtyard is ranger spike, you cap right away, cuz even in yer hero dies, you know ranger spike can interrupt a hero for 10 straight minutes. There are times when you lose for dumb reasons or you get teamed up against, but thats part of what makes hall of heroes what it is. You have to be prepared for EVERYTHING. Thats what makes the builds hard to come up with. Tombs would be way more dominated by one single build if the variety of levels was gone, The altar maps are what prevent IWAY from winning non stop, they cant protect their hero.
As far as the pvp bugs, yeah trapping on top of bridge hurting people below is the most aggregious error. That should have been fixed before this game hit stores.

You read that wrong. Top guilds *run* iWay and Minion Factory in tombs. Or they grab henchies. Or premades. Or otherwise just mess around there and don't take it seriously in the slightest.

At least from my perspective, "at times" is roughly 90% of our matches on those maps. There's a reason why we made stupid defensive builds when we cared about tombs - because you're always going to be playing 2v1 and you absolutely need pure defense in those situations. Now, I just don't care and bum rush someone everytime. I mean if it's going to be stupid, might as well enjoy it.
Peace,

I lose more on relic runs than altar maps.
One time when we beat a top 50 guild they started yelling this is guild wars not guild run. I agree, but thats the way it is

observer mode is good coz we all see who are the good players and bad players.
i also agree that its not the build that matters. it's the players who execute the build.
and why only the top 100? i think they should make it top 200 or top 300.. watching the same guilds fight is boring..

Great going Anet.
Sure, this will level things a little, but that is no big deal. It may reduce the number of players running random Pug builds and encourage FOTM builds ('As seen on Obs)', but this may also lead to more evolution in the HoH.

I can imagine the Bandwidth and Memory space its taking to replay these battles. Top 100 is fine. All the features they give us and am so glad they do it for free.

I never said that would be a problem. I think all of Guild Wars will benefit, but suddenly studying film is part of that game.

yah the scariest part of gw now is how you look as an individual player under observer mode.
but on the other hand, you can get some decent feedback through it, looking at yourself 15mins ago and seeing what you needed to do differently and what you did well and should keep doing.
ie. i noticed a single monk keeping his team up just through purely excellent prekiting, i said so in observer chat, and he was there and said thanks hehe
so yeah it has the power to improve everyones game i think.

Well then tough, if your build is so sacred you should shove it up your *** and not run it, at all.

Think about this reality. Top guilds run a decent build for a few weeks. Mediocre guilds copy the build to use in battle. While this is happening, the top guilds are using a smurf guild to develop another build that actually counters the build they were 'giving' to the mediocre guilds.

Would like to see the ability that u need to pay faction to see a battle.
Instead of people just watching it unlimited, even the ''newbs''
POPCORRRNN, and other fastfood for the movie..FTW
But back to the point, how can you become good in GW, how can you seperate yourself from other good players?
Good weapons?nah..
Making up good builds by yourself..?nah...
Using teamplay and timing?I guess, but every1 can learn that in a short period of time..

I spent all day yesterday watching GvG battles, (the tomb ones bored me), until I decided, in the middle of the night, I really should get on with the Xmas quests.
I paid particular attention to watching Mesmers, Rangers and Monks, and I can honestly say the builds they use are no different, (maybe one slot difference sometimes), to how I set up my skill bar.
I am not saying I am as "uber" as the top 100 guilds, in any way shape or form, but it goes to show that one can think along the same lines as them. The difference in rank comes with, in my humble opinion:
a) Voice Comms
b) Practice, and frequently playing together.
I think it was great to watch the different setups, and how the great guilds go about their business; I was also astonished to see that not all of these top guilds are amazing, and some made elementary mistakes and poor decisions.
It truly is compulsive viewing.
What's a Tele again?
EDIT: The know-it-alls in the Observer Chat crack me up.

I love observer mode. its quite addicting. I actually got to talk to a couple ANET devs in one last night. Good times. The onyl proplem i have in them is the people that ive met from off here and peopel that know me from being in there from having pvp'd with them or against them, or other guilds that know us.... i ran out of room on my friends list.... good times

I've seen the top Korean teams get smashed by Euro no-name teams, and have seen Guild battles where top ranked guilds get it handed to them by noname guilds with ranks in the 700-800s or higher.
All of this I would assume is making these top ranked's work harder, and making us not see them in ..quite so "goddly" a manner..
Its easy to say [Team X] is high rank or whatever, they must be making these creative builds and owning..and its totally different to actually see them..and their running Common IWAY in tombs at about a 50/50 success rate, or their fighting guilds 700 ranks behind them most of the time.

lol best strategy I saw so far...
One Guild made themselves look like n00bs so 2 of their teammates could get at the guild lord while the other team was thinking they were winning.
I need Team Speak. lol

Hopefully Observer Mode teaches all its viewers the horrors of Err=7, and then maybe we could get some spiffy support behind reconnects or something.
