Dear Santa,
I just found enough inspiration to actually write a poem about you!

Flying through the sky painted in black
Giving what others desire out of his sack
All the while expecting nothing back
Kindness is something that he'll never lack

He rewards the kind and punishes the bad
Some are happy, others are sad
Some are peaceful, some are mad
But almost everyone is glad

Guided by a red light
He only comes on one night
Seeing him is quite a rare sight
See him again next year you might

He is pictured as a man in red
He comes while you are sleeping in bed
All the legends about him had said

He eats cookies and milk
and gives presents, some made of silk
Even though we all know him well
We all wonder if he will ever tell

The truth of his name
Isn't that a silly game?
He will always be the same
No matter what others claim

He will always be known as Santa Claus.

"You have to go to bed," "You wouldn't want to miss Santa would you,". "Of course not, replied Kibo. "Goodnight" said Elderthor. "Goodnight" said Kibo. "I hope I see Santa Claus"

Dear GW Santa,

I originally wasn't going to share this story but it definitely had an affect on me and the power we all have to help others. Here goes:

I was in Ascalon City one day when some kid was spamming chatter in my native tongue trying to find people of the same cultural background. I responded to him to see if he wanted to team up or needed help with the game. The kid then starts asking me all kinds of weird questions; are you a gangster? are you a thug? do you know any gangs? etc. I was thrown off quite a bit of course as this isn't normal GW type questions. I thought he was trying to cyber-bang or some stupid crap like that.

Anyhow, my family (cousins and uncles) have had gang affiliations for generations so I'm quite familiar with gang life. I responded honestly to his questions. I finally had to find out what his obsession with gangsters came from.

Apparently some gangsters at his school were making fun of his gf in front of him and he tried his best to stand up against them but he got beat down. After that, he was constantly being harrassed and bullied. It was practically an everyday occurence for him and he would have to literally run home or ditch. It got so bad he was thinking of joining a gang for protection. This was in June and school was about to get out so he was extremely scared about the last day of school. The gangsters threatened to kill or hurt him bad on that day.

I told him tales of what happened to my cousins (jail lifers, one killed, etc) and convinced him that joining a gang would be a bad idea. He agreed, but still had a problem with the gangsters.... he had to walk home because his parents who also newly immigrated could not pick him up. He didn't have any friends or family in the city and since he was only a sophomore he didn't know anyone with a car. He thought about snitching on them but I knew that could turn out even worse bringing the problems to his home.

Luckily I had a friend who was in grad school not too far from his high school and arranged for him to be picked up immediately and dropped off at home.

Thankfully all went well. I haven't chatted with the kid in a long while but the last time I did it sounded like things would blow over. Most of the gangsters were seniors so they weren't going to be there next year and he was entering a Magnet program which would separate him further from the gangs.

If that's not enuff for ya Santa I also do my part in giving stuff away, helping people with missions, and all the good GW Samaritan stuff I can do.

Now if I win.. COOL! But if I don't please at least let me know if what I did cancels out some of the bad I did this year =P.

Sincerely,

Malus

Man... you made a long-time forum lurker slink out of the woodwork for your most exciting holiday event.

Dear Santa-Claus,
No one knows what monks go through. Except you, of course, Santa. I've been a good monk this year. I heal those scarred by the fire of the searing with the holy light of mother Dway... er, I mean with the holy light of whichever god YOU acknowledge, Santa. I do my part to fight against those smelly evil things like Charr and Grawl. My how Grawl do stink... you're not bringing them anything for Christmas, are you Santa? They smell like onions mixed with Mergoyle droppings. Okay, so I'm not great with a weapon. I stabbed brash Uncle Bonetti with a Rin Blade once... accidently, of course. But I do heal valiant Ascalons who fight those stinky sub-human things, Santa! I even heal people with names like "XX Killer XX" or "I Pwn U All." Sometimes I even heal those people who call me a "n00b" for not using Healing Seed or their favorite monk skill. Verbal abuse, Santa! You don't know what its like to bend over backwards so very nimbly as I am able to in order to heal ungrateful types like "U B E R P W N" who vocally express their regret for not bringing the healer henchman. By the way, Santa, all monks know that that Alesia is nothing more than a non-union strikebreaker! I hope you're not bringing her anything. I know! Your Christmas gift to Alesia should be a warrior who runs into hordes of enemies and dies only to blame her for the Searing and the struggling Krytan economy and Prince Rurik's body odor and many other things that are not her fault. I'm not saying I'm perfect, Santa. I'll admit that I made a few mistakes this year. I know that it was wrong to misplace that Sir Tydus's helmet and then accidentally push him into a swarm of Charr arrows. I would replace his eye if I had the right spell, Santa! I also know it probably wasn't a good idea to invite Bonfaaz Burntfur to Captain Greywind's family reunion. I healed those third-degree burns, though, Santa! No, I am not a perfect monk. But, Santa, I do deserve a very good present this year for healing all those people that no one else but Alesia would stoop to healing. Ask all of the boisterous, self-assured warrior/monks who always find their way into my pick-up-group, Santa! Ask them who healed them when the other monk told them to get a life and left the game! It was me, Pervius Wang, who endured the abuse to the end. Here is my Christmas list, Santa. May the light of your chosen deity guide your way.

Pervius's List:
-A glass eye for poor Warmaster Tydus. I didn't mean it, really!
-A spell that will render party members grateful for my healing services.
-A gift basket for Gram in Fort Ranik. I forgot to pay him for that Salvage Kit...
-A few guild members who are online more than once every month.
-100 platinum pieces.
-A new suit of armor for Necromancer Munne. I spilled a little bit of Vassar's cologne on it and she won't wear it now. An accident, Santa, I swear.
-A unique piece of equipment for the Christmas holiday. I never got one of those cool jack-o-lantern hats that people got on Halloween.
-A merry Christmas for the smelly Charr. I know they seared Ascalon and probably caused Orr to vanish in a puff of smoke, but that doesn't mean their little Charr-lings don't deserve some nifty Charr Carvings on Christmas day.

dear Sant Akhilleus,

i am neither rich not a good farmer either so i tired to help people in my own way.. i aid people in completing quest and (my favorite is final blow, shiverpeak stragglers ,seeking the seer ..quest that leads to mission because alo of people are having trouble not knowing what to do next)and mission and help people when they ask for help in my very best effort.i ve practiced a a lot of trial runs like the droks run and the Toa to sanctum runs,to help people but i still fail.

.well at least i can give my weapons that i have not used to other people.i also like to give upgrades because some new players didnt know where to get them (i also told them that they can get it from blue/purple/gold item using expert salvage).Still i think that is still not enough to be deemed as worthy to be called samaritan.but i wil answer anybodys question with all my knowledge so that i can help them .noob or non noobish question ..for me all question are good questions and (unless it is really an out of context question ) and i ve helped a lot of people solve their problem just by giving advice to them.To me advice is better than money because they will earn more than money with my advice.i also recall the first time i met u in person ..in beetletun ..u were giving tips about playing the game such as using axe as weapon or sword weapon for a warrior
..i still remember that ..and i passed on the knowledge to other people so that they can use it as well . A good one was the importance of battlerage{elite} after that i rushed to cap the elite knowing how good it was.
So i helped some groups of people but still i cant beat other people that has more money or more skills than me ..but hey its still a worthy effort right?

Dear GW Santa,

I’m Starfire, the naughty child of a naughty child, and I have come to claim the following deeds as my own accomplishments.

As a Monk,
I let my teammates die so they can serve me in death as Bonefiend-slaves.
I resurrected them only after their drop was available for everyone.
I charged them 20 coins of gold for every Orison, 50 per protective enchantment and should they have died of their own foolish devising, I made them pay me even more for sucking up my precious energy on one of those Rebirths.
I tank the Underworld in first person perspective constantly, drinking Dwarfen Ale and Absinthe en masse to elevate the Smites experience.

As an Elementalist,
I enslaved Warriors to be my personal Gearholders.
I bonded their Essence turning them into mindless manabatteries.
I reined chaos and destruction by refusing to let go of “Area of Damage” spells.
I spamclicked my Energybar on a 30sec basis, so others could witness my 100pt greatness.

As a Warrior,
I aggroed all that could be seen at once.
I have never and will never wait for those peasants to regenerate energy for their petty magic tricks.
I rush noobs for free all across Lornar only to teleport out of the group two yards before Camp Rankor.
I carry vampiric weapons all the time without mending. Aaaarrrr Heal Me!

Furthermore I hail to the Mad King as the one true ru10r of all Tyria. I shall bow to his judgement and his judgement alone. These are the words of the Starfires and their one true player Klaus, the only rightful Klaus in the entire world.

Dear Guild Wars Santa,
This year, Tyria has faced many challenges. My guild has taken on these challenges head on in order to keep peace among the land.
Many struck out from Ascalon, but only few have made it very far.
As an officer, I struck out with my warrior/monk to face these perils head on in order to scout the way for my guild mates. I then re-fought these dangers with my ranger/mesmer. I worked with henchies and with other questers of peace. Many were nice, some were naughty, and Alesia needs new armor. She keeps tanking thinking that a heavy sword wont cut through her monk robes.
But I digress.
The costs of helping guildmates and the random lost soul is taxing upon ones purse, but not upon ones heart. The quests go by faster and you make allies when one is willing to help and share with others.
If you were to shine your view upon me and my guild as worthy good people this year, it would make my guild joyus and such a present will be shared by all in my guild. We wish to continue our quest to bring peace to Tyria and to help those around us. Plus, Gwen keeps losing her flute and tearing her cape, they are mighty expensive.
All in all our guild will continue even if you find one more worthy than us, but please bring good cheer to them and wish them safe travels upon our dark and dangerous world.
a child heart,

Post The dead, the greedy, the unwealthy and the saviour

Dear Guild Wars Santa, a story for you

One day a group of people were being run by a runner who happened to be running for free, they were in the northern shiverpeaks. There were three of them being run, Jadan The Warrior, Jack Unreal and Ceria Feller. As the runner ran, the three being ran were fighting monsters. Jadan The Warrior rushed a bit and was surrounded by Ettins, he managed to kill one and a sword appeared, a golden fiery one. Before Jadan could get it he was killed.

Ceria had to catch up because she had gone to get a coke and go to the toilet, when she came back she saw Jadan and Jack fighting because Jack had waited until the item changed so that everyone could grab it and he grabbed it, Jadan was really annoyed at the selfish thing that Jack did. Anyway once Ceria caught up she wanted to look at the weapon, it was a pretty good sword, and she really wanted it.

She asked with all of her heart if she could have it, Jack told her that she could have it if she gave him five hundred gold. But Ceria didn't have that, she had spent all of her remaining money on armour at ascalon. Jack was very selfish that day, He stole an item and wouldn't give it for free to someone who didn't have much. Like Jack was going to use the sword, he was a necromancer. The runner had a plan to be nice and get revenge on Jack.

Once they got to the next town the runner asked if he could buy the sword, Jack let him have it, the runner didn't have much money himself but he didn't like this injustice. Once he got the sword he gave it to Ceria for free and told Jack that he was the most selfish person he had ever met, and he kicked him from the group. Not only that but Jack found coal in his stocking at christmas, although it was actually a practical joke that his little brother played on him. His little brother never told him.

The End, Merry Christmas.

This story is based on a real story, except the person who ran them was my brother, the leader of my guild and also the one who runs people for free from Ascalon to Lion's Arch. He never did like asking for money for running, the way he saw it was that if he could help people they could help people in turn, like a cycle. Also in the story my brother didn't have much money and couldn't afford the sword at that time, but i'm sure he would of bought it for the person who really wanted it. Whoever did that selfish thing will hopefully get coal. Oh and i changed the names, not that i knew the names anyway.

If i do win the prize i will share it with my guild, which are all people i know in real life too. If i do win it may be hard, cause i live in Perth which is +8 hours, plus i'm going to a new year's party which makes things hard...

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Addressing to Santa or Perhaps Hanukkah Harry-
My name is Eve Serpentine and I like to run, unfortunately my X-mas may be ruined this year. Being unable to afford the proper attire, I have found myself mighty ill from being sparcely clothed in the Shiverpeaks region. I should have listened to my parents when they repeatedly said, "go run in the desert...the worst thing there you'll catch is a tan!" Sniff...sniff...ah choo! Sorry, since my illness came on my guild has abandoned me and I'm left alone in an empty hall. The worst part is, although I'm gravely ill, I have to maintain my running in Shivers because I need new boots. Oh please, I want to believe in the power of holiday miracles. Happy Chrismahannakwanzaka!

Dear Santa,

Hi, this is Muir Curry the Necromancer. I’m not sure if you remember me, but I’m the Necromancer who put up a dismembered foot (instead of a stocking) over the mantle last Christmas.

Anyway, I think I’ve been a good Necromancer this year Santa. I have been very nice to other people and have given them gold, weapons, upgrades and all sorts of things for free. I have also treated my Minions nicely. I Ascended a few months ago and haven’t cheated once during the whole game! I didn’t even ask anyone to run me anywhere! I also never call anyone a newb, newbie or noob and sometimes I will just go to Ascalon and ask any new players if they need any help. Then I'll help them for free. I'm pretty nice for a Necromancer.

I did have a couple of bad run-in’s with some Mursaat recently, but honestly Santa, they started it first!! I’ll admit that I had to kill them, but you’ll be happy to know that I killed them quickly and that I did it in self-defense.

I’ve been ever so good Santa and would really like something special this year for Christmas—some new armor and maybe a really nice 1-handed Necro weapon that requires Blood or Death magic. But I’m really poor and can’t afford those things. So if you could maybe bring me something nice for Christmas I would really like that. I don’t even want a lot, because I’m not greedy. Just a little something would be very nice and would help me to be a better Necromancer. I would promise to share anything I get with others too

If you leave me a nice present, I promise to leave you cookies and milk this year instead of a shot glass of blood and plate of Charr bones like I did last year. Thanks Santa.

Your Pal,
Muir Curry

Dear Santa,

Sure my name sounds bad but I'm a good person. I helped my friends through Thunderhead Keep even though I've beaten it 6 times and ABSOLUTELY hate that mission. I've also been nice to those new people who just started farming UW through 2 man smites. I've always pointed them to the right direction and stayed in the group and taught them no matter how many times we died. I've also been nice by running people for free, power leveling them too. I've also helped people out with the mission called Thirsty River (dunno why people hate it) but I monked for them.
So to conclude this letter I want to say I think I've been a good person this year.

Dear Fake GW Santa,

I have been real BAD this year, I have killed lots of monsters, and taken a lot of lives. I know I won't be getting any presents this year or money, but I expect to be getting a lot, and I mean a lot of coal. I will then sell this coal, and make money so I can buy better weapons and armor. With the better weapons and armor, I will be able to kill more. This is a vicious cycle Santa, and I can't stop. All I am expecting is coal, and I'm fine with that. I have been BAD on purpose to get all your COAL Santa.

Sincerely yours,

Sir T

A soft hum buzzed through the morning air. Fenix opened his eyes, scouring the surroundings and seeking the source of his soft sound. He had set up camp deep in the Shiverpeak region, riding out the blizzard that had hindered his nights travel. As he woke up, he felt his limbs ache and his canteens of water frozen. He was alone, the environment frozen in silence except for the casual rustling of leaves in the morning breeze.

After he had built a fire, he leaned against a tree and let the warmth encompass him, melting away the sheet of ice around his soul. It was Christmas morning, yet he felt nothing special. He was alone, cold, and tired. What was he supposed to feel? Was it supposed to be like this? He had spent these precious days with crowds of people every year before. Now, as if stripped from society, he felt Christmas without the atmosphere of the people he loved.

Meridian, his faithful cat, glided into Fenix’s makeshift camp, dragging two rabbits. They cooked the rabbits and ate them, longing for the rush of adrenalin that was Christmas, but it never came. Fenix studied the brace he had made for Meridian’s back right foot. Then he studied the two rabbit remains. His faithful companion had chased down two rabbits while he slept a lethargic sleep.

“You are one in a million, Meridian.”

And it was then that Fenix understood. Love had driven Meridian to hunt despite pain. And it was this love that made Christmas what it was. That warmth, that energy, was love. Christmas wasn’t about gifts, or decorations, or food, but of sharing love. For love can melt away the ice around a heart and warm a soul. Fenix stood up, grabbing his gear and smiling at his companion.

“Merry Christmas, Meridian. It’s about time we headed off.”

Dear GW Santa.

Well, you should already know me, since I am pretty much a legend across Tyria, I mean, I single-handedly saved Ascalon from a Charr Invasion, not to mention escorting my Prince and citizens across barren wastelands, freezing mountains and steaming jungle. But if you don't know me, the name is Bale Shadowscar. Oh yeah, and I also defeated the whole of the White Mantle Clan, undertook several perilous challenges in a burning desert, had a personal appointment with a dragon, and saved a couple of dwarven towns for the hell of it. And if that wasn't enough, the Vizier and his mate packed me off to a volcano ridden Island in the middle of the sea, miles from civilisation to go and fight a bunch of insanely powerful floating butterfly-people. I think after that I at least deserve some kind of reward! but did I get one? nope! Not even with a 'thank-you' the dragon goes and tells me I've got to go and save the whole world again from a load of regenerating blob things.
I hope you can at least, give me some credit for these feats of impossibility, since the dragon ain't and the dwarves don't even know who I am!

Yours,
Bale Shadowscar

(Please imagine a little girl writing this)

Dearest Santa,

I think that I have been a wery good girl this year. I always do what my mummy asks me to do, like brush my teeth an' say my prayers. Like last weekend, when she asked me to get the ice imps out of the loft, I did so even though I've only been at the Academy for a year. Mr McReedy says the best thing to do is to set fire to a broom an' try an' hit them with it - an' it worked! I'm glad I listened to him in class.

An' I have done so well at the Academy - I already know the 10 ways to kill a Charr with only a toothbrush, an' I have been complimented on my running skills. I sometimes run for free, 'cos I know there are many people who are not as well off as I am. Mummy says that there are many poor people in Ascalon City, so it's only fair to help them like the Good Sammaritan.....Good Sarmatian..........Good Samarib........ like Santa would. Sometimes when I am selling something, I will give it for free if someone doesn't have much money or at a very low price. And if someone gives me too much money (or I give them too little), I always try to correct it. Also I am happy to help people that aren't at the Academy yet by answering their questions. I also try to stop bullies taking their money by pretending something is weally cool when it is worse than auntie's cabbage surprise, or calling people wude names.

I have made lots of friends and got to know so many people. I'm in a guild an' we have lots of fun. I don't like healing, but because we are such good friends I often go into Tombs as a monk just to help everyone else. An' I always want to help others, even doing missions an' quests more than once.

Oh, an' I single-handedly saved the world from an evil necromancer and his big rock-men. There were some nice people that helped me, but I'm only 6 years old so it wos wery difficult for me. I kept telling them not to do what he said an' open the Door of Komalie - I know that you shouldn't trust strange men wiv dodgy beards. But they wouldn't listen to me. So it's a good thing I wos around to clean up after them.

So as I have been so good, I hope that Santa will give me a pony for Christmas or enough money to buy a pony (they are so expensive). I will also promise to get some of daddy's good whiskey and leave it out for you wiv some of mummy's chocolate chip cookies.

Luv,

Takeko xxx
