People are wild cards; a PUG is so random that it could make the mission you've done thousands of times successfully ... impossible.

Anyone who has ever played the sole healer of the group will also recognize the difficulty of picking up drops immediately. "Hmm, I could go get this dye or I could let someone die." (Assuming you're aware of anything but health bars at that point.) Luckily most of the time I'm in guild groups and we call stuff out about each other's drops so there is no confusion.

Meanwhile, if this guy is simply a poor aggro manager, does that mean he doesn't deserve his sword?

How many of you who say "keep the sword" would just shrug your shoulders and walk away if the same thing happened to you? That's a tough area, it could have been any of you.

OR has the same thing happened to you, and you are taking your revenge on this poor guy? So petty.

He did help, if they imps didn't attack him, they would have attacked someone else who would then maybe have died. So, he did help.

I think that you should give it back, unless it was already there for him to pick-up and he was still alive. (which is not the case).

may be there is no slot left for rez with the build

since the build is for solo, not for team. I will give the sword back to him, and I believe what goes around will come around.

I played once as monk in FOW, the shard just dopped right at my feet, but I was too busy on healing others to pick it up, finally it became public, one dude tried to pick it up and died right at my front, I rezed him and he picked up my shard, but everyone told him that it was my shard, after the battle ended, so he gave it back to me.

Wow, I didn't expect this to go to 3 pages. I DID decide to give the sword back. I whispered the guy and told him to let me know when and where to meet in game. He met me at the Citadel and I gave it back to him. He even put me on his friends list after all this.

I'm definately glad I gave it back and didn't keep it. I even managed to pick up another one later that night. Thanks for all the input everyone.
