The title of this thread isn't 'Wintersday Worries'. It's 'Wintersday (31st December) - Thoughts/predictions/hopes!'. If people didn't think, ask or worry about things, we wouldn't have any discussion on forums. This thread is merely asking you to discuss what could happen/what kind of things you want to happen.

Please, try some understanding of sarcasm and good will jokes on the forums.

The question of Ascalon City has just been brought up. It looks terribly ugly normally. However, snowy Ascalon City isn't necessarily nice either. Besides, if you talk to some of the current NPCs there, they say things about the snow holding up the Charr and giving a chance to celebrate. Well, while the snow holds up the Charr, they should be rebuilding the city while they can, restoring buildings, roads, planting grass and generally making the city nice again. This would be a nice part of an update.
If Grenth wins, surely all the nice decorations in the cities would have to go, and it would be just be snow and gloom. The normal city of Lion's Arch, with its fountain, statue, and great walls looks quite nice.

Make way for spring - the snow melts, grass shoots, and pre searing ascalon returns...

I hope that we will get a few more days, because I'm still going to be partying back home through the 31st. Man, I picked the wrong time to take a vacation. Not only that, but I NEED one of those Candy Cane items!

At this point, if Anet hasn't made a Santa toque and a Pere Noel to hand them out, there's going to be a million crying and screaming folks on Wintersday (no offence meant to the person posting). If the NPC could hand out a few CC shards, I wouldn't mind either.

And no, we won't see any areas remain Xmassy: it's a holiday event, after all.

Event predictions:
- Fireworks. Other than that, I just want to be pleasantly surprised. The snowball arena, observer mode and present hunt already surpassed my expectations.

After-event predictions:
- With the candy canes that eliminate DP, we'll see a resurgence of soloing tanking Ubermonks, now not so afraid of DP that would make them unrezzable.

- People will still try to sell candy cane shards, but the price will drop to 200g, since there will be abolsutely nothing that can be done with them (you can't even sell them to the merchant). It takes people awhile to catch on.

- Icy Dragon Swords will stop dropping, making them an extremely rare game item and give them ridiculous value, even though cold damage isn't very useful outside of the Ring of Fire missions.

- Even though Santa hats will be customized, we'll still be treated to 24 hours of people trying to sell theirs.

They're not customized. Talk to someone in your guild who you trust about getting you one.

Not forever, but possibly a few weeks/months, according to some NPC's. I recall one NPC saying something about winter lasting longer if Grenth wins. Anet might do that to give a little 'permanent world' feel to the game.

I think we all will be able to see a battle between Grenth vs Dwayna.

If grenth wins, we should have another month of wintersday, if dwayna wins, ascalon should be transformed to it's pre-seered version for a month... maybe?

I dunno about being Transformed back to Pre-Sear but maybe some nice grass, Flower's,Bunnys, and Clean water would work. With some nice Vines hanging from the Tipped over building's

hahaha, sounds good Rinoa...

From what i can say old jolly wont be showing on Wintersday, cuz not everyone either supports/believes in him

We'll probably be seeing the Spirit of Wintersday NPC announcing its time for the Glorious fight of Dwayna vs. Grenth and we'll have to do a number of crazy emotes to support the god of our choice *if u haven't noticed the candy cane circle in LA to represent the area of the event as the mushrooms during halloween time-noone died outside of Thorns circle so noone will b able to support Dwayna or Grenth outside of the circle*

Maybe it'll depend on which team won most matches in the Snowball arena. Dwayna has a good advantag, perhaps it was on purpose so she won and we get the terrible ascalon back. Oh noes!

I hope they keep Ascalon City snowy! Looks better that way than the doom and gloom one :| Plus, the area where Simon the Scribe is located looks like a small outpost and I love just sitting there near the fire.

The mind wobbles. Ranger or not, Grenth would keep the snow...and I bet many people agree that snowy Ascalon looks much better than normal barren Ascalon. Plus, the holiday music is pretty good, seeing how we've been sitting there, listening to the sad violin themes for ages.

I hope it's Grenth v. Dwayna with some minions for each side (perhaps the collectors/supporters we've seen in the towns?) and we watch in Observer mode.

Gotta say, Groundhog Day would be more exciting if fights between deities decided the fate of the seasons (rather than wether or not some rodent leaves a hole in the ground.)
