He may not have loaded the update yet. Or he may have transfered them between two accounts, from an un-updated one to an updated one.
I'm sure alot of people have done this, and there will be another round of nerfs to get them...

Hi,
I don't think that is possible? How can an *un*updated character meet an updated one?

Easy the other person has not signed out since the update, but as soon as they do their game will update, as will any thing you buy from them and put in your account.

Wouldn't matter, accounts have to be on the same build in order to intereact.

lets think ...
20/20 off hand , hod sword with 20% pommel.
total +17 energy
20/20 staff with +5 energy,20% mod.
total +15 energy
2 energy mhh biggie.
and for that 2 energy you trade the possibility to end a dying enemy(and if you have played some pvp you know there is a lot occasion to do that)

Plus, wouldn't any new updates automatically replace it? I mean, if it's a new build of the game that they release next week, it would have the nerf change in there, correct?
So unless the guy keeps doing that dual account cycle or whatever, he'll get the nerf eventually.
Or maybe the updates just don't work that way?

HoD sword, non-gladiator's armor = 25 energy, enough to cast some of the more devastating secondary profession skills, WHILE using a shield, +16 armor, possibly -2 damage stance / enchanted.
Non- HoD sword with shield, non-gladiator's armor = 20 energy
Staff, non-gladiator's armor = 30- 35 energy, +5 armor tops, no shield bonuses, inability to use melee skills.
It IS a biggie. The sword is essentially a +5 energy always wand that can have 2 different interchangeable mods on it. If it wasn't a biggie, they wouldn't be selling for a small fortune. Not very many non-max, not-15>50 melee weapons command a 300k selling price.
The division in this game community is hilarious sometimes. PvP vs PvE, farmers vs anti-farmers, everybody feels that the way they play is the "right" way to play and to bloody hell with anybody who has a difference of opinion. And everybody is so quick to justify their "rightness" and condemn or belittle anyone who thinks differently or wants to play differently as a "whiner." Then when it's THEIR turn to get a skill or item nerfed that THEY liked and THEY get branded a "whiner" for bitching about it, their first defense is "I'm not a whiner! There was nothing wrong with it to start with- it didn't need to be changed!" Welcome to Guild Wars, a "community" of over 1 million narcissists.

That thread detailing the bug/exploit was in violation as well, if Anet were real hardnosed they could have given grief to Guildwars Guru website as well about it. But they weren't, they were lenient and nice enough to just fix the axe and let everyone continue playing. Let this thing die already.

They should fix their screw up
How can it die already if it's not resolved? If Anet truly were not being hypocritical, or if they cared about the imbalance they do create in the game with their nerfing, they would remove ALL such items from the game, period. Not just the SOA Axe. They would pull all HOD swords, all 20/20 rockmolders. Nerf them from total existence, so that one player doesnt have advantage over the other.

By nerfing items from the game, such as HOD swords and the 20/20 Rockmolders it did create an imbalance, because some of those items are still in circulation, giving the owners of those items an advantage over those that dont have them. If they wanted to keep the game in perfect balance, they should have been removed completely. Having 2 grips of fortitude on an axe is no worse, than say, Brohns Staff with 60 hp...and those are available to all. The HOD swords and the 20/20 rockmolders are not. Personally I used mine on a runner. They should have left the SOA axes that people had in circulation as well, and not went into inventories, that is just wrong, they didnt do that with the HOD or the rockmolder. Perhaps calling Anet hackers is a bit extreme, but when someone goes into your account without permission, what would you call it? The people in possession of the HOD swords etc, didnt have to go through that.

Are you serious?
Its THEIR game, they get to make all the changes they want, comparing them to hackers because they fixed a problem in THEIR OWN game, is pathetic.
Your grasping at straws here, man.

bad manners ftw, some of the games ive observed poeple started to spam crap to players they thought sucked.... guess thats one of the reasons they gave us "do not disturb".
oh and, would be great if we could "record" the games like in warcraft and warhammer 40k and watch replays cuz i just saw an amazing GvG between immortal legoin [IL] and War Machine [WM].
it lasted 10 minutes and was simply amazing.

Actually HoD is using a "built in" hilt or grip with +5 energy. It's a bug, you just can't mod it, so they let it go. However, there are at least a dozen other bugged items I know of that are either built in or moddable that I've been ex*cough* "reporting to anet".
I sold 11 SoA axes in the rush, made a mint. I'm about half way to another set of forge armor in ecto alone. Of course, when you have insider information, organizing a "pre-nerf gold rush" on an item drives the price sky high. I wonder who else could have possibly stocked up and cashed in???
I had about 34 SoA axes on one of my accounts without mods, just in case it ended up like the HoD sword, but those got nerfed, but no big deal. Win some, lose some. Since I didn't actually pay anything for them, and I didn't have the axe grips for them (paying 100k*2 for grips to sell on an axe for only 100k isn't very smart), I wouldn't say I've lost anything but an imaginary number. Roll of the dice as one of the previous posters said.
Feelings on the nerf to whites? Loving it. Means they all buy the next wave when it comes out. It's good business.
If you haven't noticed a LOT of guilds are boosting themselves with bugged items, such as the "crystal caster" sword, HoD, 20/20 Rocks, 3+ mod offhands, max shields with +1-10 ar vs a damage type (usually slashing or elem) and 2 additional mods, the early wands with 3 recharge/cast mods, and a couple of other items which should look unusual for the class which is using them, but I won't mention them here. After all, unveiling exploits is against the rules.
Now if you'll excuse me, I've got money to auction and I have to stock up on bits for the next release.

IMO they should have done a database search and deleted all the money and items that were exchanged over this item...as in, if you got 50 ectos for a bugged item, you should lose the ecto...serves everyone right across the board.

And for all the money that left my inventory in exchange for what I wanted because I know holding "hot property" is a bad idea?
Multiple accounts = no paper trails. They aren't going to nerf my friend because I gave him $, because that would mean they'd have to nerf every person down the line that "dirty money" got pushed to. After the first pass, it's clean. Just like the "duped" money from WoW, etc.
