A funny thing happened at work the other day
A lot of people in our office play GW, and we talk alot about it. I was describing to one of my woman collegues what we do in PvE as "We go out, do quests and misssion, earn money to buy better armor and equipment" and I showed her some screen shots of some of the armor and weapons that I have and some that I want.
She summed up what I was doing as "playing barbie dolls".
It took me a little while to sink in, but in a way she is right.
What is the point of barbie dolls; buy clothes and accesories.
What is the point of GW; buy armor and weapons, and kick butt to do it.

That's a good analogy.
But I think of it more as playing with Action Figures. It's more manly that way.
In Guild Wars we want the best armor stats/looks. For Barbie the best armor is no armor .
Hahahhahahaha.

Barbie ain't never put on a suit of armor and mercilessly slaughtered hordes of Imps, drank their blood, and collected their hearts for trophies. 'Nuff said.

Right... and Unreal Tournament is like when you fight for clothing on sale...
Seriously, what about the PvP??? Categorizing GW as a "dress up" game is pretty disappointing.

You know what? Barbie is supposed to show girls that they can be anything they want. Well, where the heck is gladiator barbie? I think thats discrimination. Barbie can be a cold-blooded killer if she wants to.

The reason everything seems so odd from that point of view is because life is that way in general, heck you could say war is just like a bunch of little kids fighting over nothing .

Wondering what dye to use for my female monk's robes occasionally damages my masculinity like a swift kick in the groin.

You DO know, that GW was advertised as a PvP focused game, where the aim was to kill the other team? It quite obviously didn't turn out quite that way, although PvP could be like action figures or something. But with tactics, mind you.

You don't see Barbies trying to slaughter each other in 8v8 battles.
