DirectSong pre-release
I received an invitation email from DirectSong to try out the pre-release of the enhanced ingame music tonight.
The music is nicer, louder, and crisper; A much better quality audio sampling rate.
I can definately recommend the package to those who like the ingame music currently.

It's not working for me in GuildWars at all...
I have download the (a) version and ran it and did a permanet reauthontication on the DRM
I can listen to any of the tracks just fine in WMP (DRM update took)
GuildWars opening music / quality has not changed
I changed my ISP and my sign-in address for guild wars is diffrenet from the Direct Sound (I'm thinking that is the issue) - There is no way to change your email address at direct sound that I've have found....
When I updated the lincese, I had WMP Scripting turned off
There is no contact support email, phone for Direct Sound
Ticks me off a bit but do understand this is "pre-release" aka beta...
I have rebooted...
Edit - (Dang it... not playing guild wars tonight.. too furstate)

If you moved any of the folders around after you downloaded the tracks, it'll break the music integration.
If that's the case:
Remove the two files named ds_GuildWars.dll and GuildWars.ds.
Decide on a permanent home for the music files and then place the DirectSong folder (which includes all of the music within a subfolder) in that permanent location. Then rerun the directsong downloader program you got from the site. Configure the downloader properly to have it download to the directory that you moved the music to. It will run but will not actually download all of the music again (if it does start redownloading, then you did not properly point the directory and it has probably created a new DirectSong folder within your current DirectSong folder). Now, it'll just recreate the two files you removed earlier and have it link back up with your game installation.
P.S. There's a contact sentence within the email. '-_^

Did what you said, deleted the two files, found a permanet home for the files and re-ran the downloader which added back the two files and prompted to launch WMP (and I did) started playing track 01 on it's own. I had turned back on windows scripting. And it did find all the audio files and skipped downloading them
Still doesn't work.
I did notice the email at the bottom, was getting ticked and overlooked it. Sent off an email.
Question for those that work, does your DirectSong login name (email address) match the GuildWars login (email address).
(Edit) Thank you for trying to help me, that was a very good idea. Still a bit frustrated but calming down partly.

Sign up for DirectSound. It's $6 to get the Orginal Sound Track
If you get lukcy the download code will be GW101A
of it's just GW101... At least you got 5 great stand alone bonus tracks with the normal ones

Nope, the directsong login has absolutely nothing to do with your guildwars account. It's a separate company/entity. To download your license file through windows media player, you'll have to use the working login info that you use to login at directsong.com. Test your login info there first if you're unsure.
If it still doesn't work, have you tweaked your windowsxp running services in any way? I'm wondering if you've disabled the licensing service. My guess is you did not.
Otherwise there must be something running on your computer that's in some way blocking things. Perhaps a virus or internet security package such as norton or mcaffee internet security. (as a guess)

Finally got it to work, email tech support clued me in on something about installaion.
I had to delete all traces of it and during the installation I changed the default path of where to installed (I installed it in the Guild Wars dir). I think by changin where it installed fixed my issue.
Your 100%, the email adderss not matching is not an issue.
Again, thank you for helping me when I was very furstrated.
I posted / replied in the the Tech Forum, I didn't want to derail this threed more then I have

So they want us to pay for sound quality that we should have had in the first place ?

It's actually re-directs the game to play the wma files from the Orginal Sound Track (which is 128 KB bit WMA) and overrides in game one. And you get 5 bonus tracks.
I felt the existing game music was great, and this just made it even better.
I look at it this way, I loved the music so I bought the Collector's Edition of Guild Wars. When DirectSound came out after GW was out, and have the OST with 5 bonus tracks, I bought it too. I expect my download version to be the same or better then the in game one.

As if!
The music that comes with the game as default is good music and will play perfectly on most systems. Nothing more to say there. It's a game and it uses game music at the standard bit/byte quality games usually have, no? In fact, the quality feels better than average to me, not to mention the music composition.
DIRECTSONG, not Arena.net, is offering an addon package to Guildwars, and eventually other games. You seem to be grouping DirectSong with Arena.net and slapping the "they" label on them as a single company. Arena.net bought rights to use the music that Jeremy Soule composed and adapted the music into guildwars, as any game company would do. Case closed. And I think the ingame music is great.
Jeremy took part in creating DirectSong with the intent of enhancing game music as addon packs. They're starting with Guildwars and it's pretty obvious why.
The addon package enhances the musical aspects of the game.
In this case DirectSong is letting you license their enhanced music and having it seemlessly integrate into the game and become part of the game.
Otherwise, use winamp and disable the ingame music.
Your comment doesn't feel well thought out. It would have helped if you took the time to rationalize your comment and back it up with some clearly thought out reasoning.
Basically if I had answered your question in the exact same manner as you asked it, it would have been:
"Uh, no."
Not very helpful is it? And not very contructive. I guess you wouldn't like that very much either.

It would be childish to continue this in its current course. There’s nothing creditable to stand on as a foundation:
You're wrong.
No, I'm not.
Yes, you're wrong.
No, I'm not.
Your point isn't fully valid until you fully present it. It's only valid to YOU, and if that's how you want it to be, wouldn't it have been wiser to keep it to yourself?
I addressed and even debunked your point head on and backed up my own opinion. If you're not going to contribute to a discussion, and yet continue to throw in arguable statements with no intention of clearly backing those statements up, then it is 'trolling'. At least that’s the jargon people use today.
The line of statements you're presenting only lead to bickering. Either it'll continue, adding absolutely nothing to the topic, or you'll eventually, after lots of prodding and completely unnecessary rudeness, discuss your point.
If you feel it looks 'cooler' just dropping in comments like that, you have a lot to learn about communication. That line of thinking can backfire on you too. Someone could think your argument doesn’t have legs to stand on.

Wow, outstanding download. I'm very impressed with not only the enhanced quality of the files themselves, but it seems as it all of these tracks have been re-mixed and mastered professionally. As a professional recording artist and audio engineer myself, it's refreshing to hear such quality and attention to detail given to the musical score of a video game. Often I'm disappointed with the music in games, simply because it seems to take a backseat to the graphics when it comes to quality. This is somewhat understandable, since players are more picky about visuals than sound and there's only so much disk space/bandwidth to go around... high quality sound files are usually pretty large. Plus studio sessions for music are insanely expensive when using live talent and professional engineers, so the recording/mixing/mastering can often be rushed or not given enough time. This DirectSong idea is really innovative, and could help musical artists who do video game scores get the sound they originally intended or hoped for to their audience.
Understand, this isn't just a higher encoded version of the files we have ingame. The mixes of these tracks are far superior to that of the ingame ones, which means they probably either went to the original full resolution mixes themselves and did a new encoding, or went back into the studio and remixed/mastered them. Based on my own personal experience, I'd guess it was the latter. The ingame versions that come with the GW install CD sound like synth/sample instruments, while these new versions sound like they are performed by a live orchestra.... don't know if that's the case, but that's the level of quality difference we're talking about here.
I'm happy to support an innovative technology that helps the audience hear the music much closer to how the composer originally intended it to be. If enough people support this, it could open the door to more soundtracks being given the same attention. Many people don't realize that besides the composer there's a large community of musicians, engineers and staff who do the work in the recording studio to make these kind of things happen - supporting DirectSong supports them as well, not just Anet or DirectSong.
This soundtrack is superb, and well worth the $5.99 download. Congratulations to Jeremy Soule and everyone involved.

I guess this music package has been re-named to Special Edition Soundtrack V.2?
How this works with Sorrow's Furnace mini-pak and Battle Pak 1?
