Ascalon main city district 1 is still pretty active as well. Lions Arch just seems to be the middle point and a good place to try to sell middle and high level content. Ascalon is good if you want to try to sell things a newbie can use low level content and resources for starting armor.

Lions Arch is the trading place, so lots of people go there anyway, and also Lions Arch is the capital of Kryta. Which I think is the biggest human country of Tyria.

LA is the port of Tyria where everyone goes to trade.
Not really sure why LA but thats the way it is.
Droks is a big town also since you get the highest level armor there.
When I sell weapons or mods I go to LA, when I sell crafting material I go to Droks.
When I want fast access to traders (rune/merchant etc) I jump to Amnoon since its easier to find things around.
Henge of Denravi is just a waste of space in my opinion.
As for the decoration, Ascalon got wintersday decoration which I found it as a nice touch from Anet since lots of people cannot get to LA.
During the Halloween update Ascalon was neglected and a lot of people felt left out.

LA is like the capital of a country, everything you need is there, and the most 'civilized' (in terms of a city structure). Though if many people started hanging around Henge (where the storage location is out in bufu), people would use that as a hot spot too.
When I need to get stuff from Storage, I'll go to Fisherman's Haven since you usually spawn right next the storage agent.
If I need a merchant, I'll go to LA just in case I need to sell some other things.
Though, personally, I prefer my Guild Hall, while I'm in between quests and missions.

I'm with Esprit, if i'm not trading or on a mission, my home is usually in port sledge, I like the cold, loneliness out there.

LA has always been the first place people start selling stuff. Some possible reasons why:
It's the first major city after a long long trek through frost gate, yaks bend, etc from Ascalon.
First place to offer everything. it's also the first place where you'll find the sigil trader.
ANet has always used LA for it's major events, including the Frog, Gaile, Holloween, Christmas, etc.
It was the major town near one of the first major farming areas - the drakes.

Droknar is the place to be for materials.
Ascalon if you want to find low req not max dmg items.
The War Camp if you are searching for a particular green.
I've never traded in Lion's Arch.

Argh! Stay away from Amnoon you horrible traders, that's mine! Lion's Arch and to a lesser extent Droknar (but also Ascalon City) have become totally, utterly unbelievably infested with trade spam. I can't stand being in those places unless looking to buy/sell something specific. Shame really.

Maybe its because of the lush foliage that attracts people to Lions Arch?

I usually go to droks, aslcalon or LA disc 1 for trading, depending on what im trying to sell or buy. For exaple i try to sell/buy crafting materials in droks beacuse the armor there requires quite a bit of materials. If im selli/buying any type of weapon i usually go to LA and Ascalon.
I agree that amnoon oasis and Henge should have been decorated too since they are an outpost..but it seems as if not many people are at either. At least they decorated more towns for wintersday than they did for halloween though

i guess it's becauese during the WPE and a little after, new characters were kicked in at LA, which was designed before Ascalon
(I miss the beta-Ascalon with the great fire).

Ahh, Amnoon. It's beautiful, it's more or less free of trade-spam, and it is ignored by the holiday updates. If I would label any city as home base, it would be Amnoon.
Weird... it's a city and the local chat is mostly "people" discussing the "game" and looking for "parties" rather than going on and on about WTS and WTB. Very very very nice in my opinion.
So yeah, trade spammers stay out of Amnoon please. It's quiet and I like it that way.

Well, like some mentioned, Lion's Arch was the first town to be ever played during the Beta Weekends. All the best sell and buy were in Lion's Arch, and naturally people just use it as trading town rest of the time. As time progress, there are always new arrival in Lion's arch keeping the population steady, while Droknar and Denravi needed at little more time for people to reach.
As of now, it really doesn't matter anymore. However, people seem to be following the tradition.
Besides, Lion's Arch's weather is very nice.

Of course if i wanna sell stuff i go to lions (weps), Droks or ascalon(matts), or ill go to war camp(greens).

I use LA for almost everything, I just find it a very pleasant place to be. All the traders are in one spot (well most of them) and storage is just a short jaunt away. The only bad thing is people spamming the normal chat with buying and selling, I absoloutly despise it.
